I'm not a fan of fried chicken because of a bad experience in my childhood but this chicken is to die for. We had a family member come in from Minnesota and we decided that we would go to see the wonderful antique shops and have a relaxing supper afterwards. Love this place, all the food was delicious and the staff was amazing. Thank you for a delightful experience.
This place serves the only fried chicken I will eat. Not to mention they have best biscuits and coleslaw!! The staff is friendly as well! 10/10 will eat there again!
This is the best place to eat. The Cole slaw, cream corn and chicken is the best I have had in a long time. We will be back.

I had never been in the restaurant, till the other night but I have had it served at a catering.
Wife has been in US for about 8 months and we we're on our way home and decided to stop in and eat. Walked in and was greeted said they would get a table ready for 2. I was thinking 10 to 15 min wait and about 2mins later they called name.
It is a set menu so no deciding what to order.
The waitress explained everything and all the food. All the food was delicious. Well neither me or wife like cottage cheese. So we just set it to side and ate basically a little of everything else.
And boxed up our chicken, potatoes, gravy, biscuits that we hadn't ate.
How can I even begin to describe. Just go for yourself. Chicken dinner in a beautifully restored hotel. It’s he only exciting thing about driving through Kansas. Coleslaw and creamed corn are too sweet for me but the chicken is phenomenal. James beard awarded chicken come on that speaks for itself.
We had a reservation for 2. We were seated promptly upon arrival. Service was wonderful. I needed baked chicken, as was called in with the reservation. It was delicious. We felt very waited on and taken care of. The food was delicious!! �🖒
We spent late morning into early afternoon meeting our new puppies east of Abilene. We were starving and Looking for something other than fast food we found brookville open at 3pm on Sunday.
When we walked in the fried chicken smelled heavenly.
Their service is a simple family style fried chicken dinner which includes your choice of drink, relish plate, slaw, biscuits, corn, mashed potatoes and gravy, & fried chicken.
I got pictures to start off but, famished, I forgot to get pictures of the entrees. I loved the creamy sweet & sour slaw. Eveything was fresh, hot & well prepared. Definitely recommend this gem. We will return when we're in the c area again.
Loved it! My family and I went there for x mas dinner. It was beautifully decorated, all of the food was delicious, excellent service checked on us often but not to often and always with a smile. Lots to look at neat nice gifts to buy. Rooms upstairs were also very interesting and pleasant to look at. Only thing missing on that day was the x mas tree. Thank u for such a calm, relaxing , pleasant yet not boring time. 😎
My wife and I had a wonderful time with my Mum and Dad. I especially like that everything is served family style. This is a great Southern style hotel and restaurant. You owe it to yourself to stop on by.
So. Much. Food. This place serves the crispiest, most flavorful fried chicken you'll ever have. Sides galore and homemade ice cream for dessert.

Beautiful Victorian style interior design. The food and service, 1st class. Very good country style meal. You only choose your beverages and serve a "surprise" comolete meal 9f the day. They have a small gufts shop in the entrance with a nice selection of crafted items.
Ate here for the first time years ago and it hasn't changed which is great. You can have anything you want as long as it's the chicken dinner! We happened to be crossing thru Abilene between lunch and dinner so I grabbed carryout. Half fried chicken (4 pieces), mashed potatoes, gravy, slaw, cream corn and two biscuits for twelve bucks and some change - made for a terrific dinner once we arrived at our hotel.
We made a day trip from Kansas city to east at this restaurant. We enjoyed the Juicy, crispy chicken and the full table of sides. We didn't really care for all the sides though. We made reservations and got right in.
