As a vegan, this is the only ice cream I will eat! My fave flavor since childhood has always been orange chocolate chip..thank Dewey! They sell in my neighborhood in Oakland, on Park Blvd..I believe the owner is a resident??

Mr. Dewey's is the best ever...I even like it better than cow's milk ice cream. It's so creamy and smooth. The cashew base itself must have a delicate and subtle flavor because it doesn't mask the full flavor of the delicious chocolate, vanilla or coffee. It's amazing!

Best plant-based "ice cream" in the Bay! I'm a natural Chef and super selective about what makes food and desserts exceptional. Mr. Dewies is exceptional, the texture and consistency so smooth, the flavors so delicious and well balanced. Even the vegan hot fudge will make your mouth water. The buckwheat g/f waffle cone -one of a kind -light, super flavorful and not to sweet. Every flavor I've sampled -simply delightful. Make a special date to try it out if you haven't been yet -and bring your friends and family.

First: an excellent alternative to dairy, even though I'm an ice cream lover, I appreciate the deliciousness of this vegan version. Second: it's a dessert whose time has come. Scientific, medical evidence suggests that we ought to avoid dairy for numerous health reasons, in spite of it being so deeply ingrained in our culture. Nut-based ice creams are a welcome new treat. Still high in fat and sugar, unfortunately, but more desirable fat, i presume. Third: Mr.Dewey's flavors are off the charts: fantastic! My favorite: roasted cashew. (Kind of the obvious choice, huh?). But the fruit flavors are surprisingly authentic and satisfying too!

I discovered Mr. Dewie's completely by accident on a visit to Emeryville, and couldn't believe my eyes and ears when they told me everything was 100% vegan. I'm used to being limited to a pretty bland sorbet wherever I go, but for once I had options! The person working nicely offered to let me try every flavor I wanted, and I did! Each of them is absolutely incredible, and the fact I could have any toppings I wanted was just the cherry on top, literally! Thanks to Mr. Dewie's I had probably the most exciting food adventure I've ever had, and realized I love cashew milk. I finally have a milk alternative that actually tastes good! Thanks for giving this milk allergic girl ice cream again. Also please ship your ice cream, I live all the way in Georgia now and miss it dearly!!!

Mr Dewie's ice cream is delicious. We are not eating dairy and this a fabulous substitute or better than regular ice cream. We were so happy to stumble on the actual store and try the amazing flavors after eating at DaNang around the corner on San Pablo. The flavors are all delicious. They carry the ice cream at Farmer Joes in Oakland but not the same huge selection. Now this gives us all the more reason to drive to Albany to eat dinner and have dessert.

Mr. Dewie's cashew milk ice cream is absolutely the best vegan ice cream I've ever had ~ just as good, if not better than, dairy ice cream! I especially love the Orange chocolate chip flavor, as it reminds me fondly of the Swenson's Swiss orange chip ice cream I enjoyed as a child. Hoping this will be back in stores soon!

If you get phlegm in you throat or a bellyache when you eat ice cream (from regular dairy products)--consider going to Mr. Dewie's for their cashew ice cream. When I an close by Dewie's it is like their is a magnet pulling me to their ice cream shop. I cannot tell from the taste or texture that it is non-dairy. It is sooo delicious!!!

I am very impressed by the vegan ice cream. I find a lot of vegan ice cream tastes more like gelato (very watery gelato), but not this place! Using cashews is genius to keep the creamy, rich texture of ice cream. I ordered 1 scoop of coffee and 1 scoop of green tea, delicious! Both were so creamy, rich and satisfying. The flavors were really bold and the nuttiness of the cashew undertone was a great compliment to both flavors. Also, the customer service was great as I was greeted by a warm, friendly blonde woman who offered me free tasting samples. The interior was very clean, with gloves, masks and clean counters. I also see they are earth friendly and don’t use plastic spoons (wooden spoons and metal spoons). Very happy with my purchase!

After a 3 month stay in LA, I had finally returned to the Bay Area where there's only one place I can enjoy ice cream. I heard there was a new peach flavor so I decided to try it. Upon entering the shop, I heard some faint music that sounded very familiar. It was the soundtrack to Star Wars Empire Strikes Back. I'm writing this review because when you pair nostalgic tunes with a childhood favorite like ice cream, there's simply no other better combination. The music and the peach ice cream was a treat and made my day. Service was top marks too. Perhaps they should consider, projecting a film on one of the walls like foreign cinema. Cheers.

After watching a movie at the Landmark Cinema, I noticed "Dairy-free ice cream" written in all caps across the street. Walked in on a whim, without checking any reviews, loved the chocolate cookie crumble ice cream. 😋 Definitely coming back for more!

This ice cream is great! Texture is smooth depending the flavor I always have one with turmeric and probably is the most weird flavor but is delicious. Parking like every where is a nightmare but is well worth it.

a review from @amom2kidsandapark What does a mom and 2 kids need after a long hot day of park hopping? ICE CREAM! Introducing the account I’m now regretting I didn’t make … 🥁🥁🥁… amom2kidsandanicecreamparlor JK but damn that’d be “sweet” ((get it? 😉)) I asked for Albany recs & this one popped up a few times so we had to visit. I decided to park up the street a bit & we got a chance to walk Solano Ave (okay I saw an open spot & took it because you just never know). This street is so cool & has so many restaurants, shops, & businesses (medical offices , real estate etc). There are nice shade trees with benches underneath & colorful bike shaped bike racks. The kids loved seeing the different colors. 🌈 Okay onto the ice cream. 1) it’s so good 2) it’s vegan, organic, soy free, gluten free, & additive free. ((Plus I prayed over it so it had zero carbs & calories 😅) There were so many options & the kids were restless so I went w/the bon bon sampler, small little ice cream balls coated in chocolate shell 🤤 we got vanilla, mint chip, raspberry, & strawberry. They were all so good but I think my personal fav was the raspberry. The kids had fun eating them & trying their best to not have messy hands (impossible!). Other items on the menu include cones, cups, pints, cookie sandwiches & of course toppings. When we arrived we were the only ones there but quickly after it filled up with 4 people behind us waiting to order. The cashier/ice cream slinger was so kind & helpful. We sat outside on a bench to eat our delicious treat. There are 3 @mrdewies locations in the east bay, but this is the only spot that serves the bon bons. The price is high ($4.50 single scoop to $10 for a pint) but you’re getting quality product. You can also get their pints local grocery stores. Next time I go (cus there will def be a next time) I’m gonna try chocolate coconut 🤩

It's phenomenally good, if you're considering it do it. Come about 2x/month as a treat for my 4yr old son. Order the same thing every time, but interestingly (to me) the price varies from $5.75-9.50 depending on who is working (for a kids size scoop in a sugar cone + kids size scoop in a cup). Kids size scoop is about 2x the size I actually want and I always ask them to halve it (again, to varying degrees of success). Good problems to have ;-) Carmel almond crunch and tumeric (yes, tumeric) are the stars. They let you try before you buy so at a min recommend giving 'em both a try.
