I enjoyed visiting a friend here and we were comfortable, our table was constantly bussed, the place was always being swept and clean.
The food was great, nice to have vegan options for my friend too, including great chocolate cake.
Atmosphere was comfortable and a good place to talk and enjoy company.
Dined in for breakfast on our way to the airport. Southwest Bennie was a bit heavy, but what can you expect when something is smothered in queso! The green chili really shined, but was not so overpowering that it was all you could taste. I really liked the eggs and the English muffin was great.
You order at the front counter and get a number for the table at fist come first served seating. The folks taking orders were friendly. The dining room itself is showing some wear and tear. I get the impression they churn through a lot of people most of which are likely college students. There was also a really off-putting smell near the restrooms.
For my review it was 5 for food and 3 for ambiance/establishment so I met in the middle at 4.
I love the Flying Star! This was my college hangout. I used to study here & have unlimited coffee. Now, I just meet up with friends & enjoy the pastries. My favorite dish is the Buddha Bowl. I get it with tofu!
I have to say, this is probably my favorite place to eat in Nob Hill. I usually pick up but every once in a while I like to eat in, have a couple mimosas and enjoy the view. The food is always delicious - seriously have no complaints. Staff is super friendly and helpful.
Sunday morning breakfast was great. Ordered the non-gluten pancakes and they were really tasty. Coffee could've been hotter but they have a refill station that allowed free top off. Service was good - no real checking in with you once your food is delivered.
Excellent! If you are from Albuquerque or visiting, make it a point to eat here. You will not be disappointed. Food is fresh and full of New Mexico flavor. Highly recommend!
A frequent Flying Star regular specifically for the Cauliflower Wings and Blueberry Pancakes. Had the blueberry pancakes two days in a row which was a great choice. Only complaint was the size of pancakes greatly differs based on whose in the kitchen. The pancakes in the photo were smaller than usual. Coffee is also really good, just brought out in glass cups when ordered hot, which means a longer wait time to drink waiting for it to cool.
I loved the green chili and tasty tofu tacos. We got the double chocolate cake and it is not soft. Buddha bowl was too sweet. The soup of the day tasted good but it has too many squash pieces in it.
Delicious food with varied menu. This eatery is so clean and very well run by the staff. Every single employee was more than helpful no matter what we needed. Will definately return on my next visit! Thank you to a first-class business. 👍😋
Very good! Came in with a friend for breakfast. We split the breakfast burrito with egg whites and a blueberry pancake. Both were fantastic! Coffee was got and fresh. Staff was also nice and friendly. Reasonably priced for everything we got. I'd say for sure worth a try if you're in the area wanting breakfast!
Visited this place on a Tuesday late morning when it was quiet and charmingly appointed. It immediately reminded me of the typical Bar Louie ascetic- nicely done.
We had the giant breakfast burrito that is enough to share and a grilled mac and cheese sandwich. The burrito has excellent flavor in the cheese, chili, and spicy beans enough to carry it as a vegetarian option (with signature fluffy egg). They did not skimp on the cheese and potatoes were crispy and substantial.
The grilled mac and cheese was ridiculous and delicious. You know you’ve made the right choice in entree when your server immediately brightens and gets excited by your selection. He was correct- an insanely cheesy, gooey, and delicious option.
Regular coffee was good and the cappuccino delightful.
Planning to go back to sample the bakery fare.

I can't believe I've never reviewed this place before. I've been coming here since this was Double Rainbow. This is the original, the first, and still one of the best coffee shops/bakeries /dining establishments in Albuquerque. It's well worth visiting. Stroll Central/ Nob Hill, see the variety of stores, watch the people, meet friends for a pastry and a laugh. This is a place that puts the good in life. And if they still have it on the menu try the bread pudding, it's amazing.
One of the best strawberry rhubarb pies I've ever had. And good coffee too!

Flying star is always a delicious experience. I enjoy their excellent service, cuisine, and they are a favorite of mine for take-out. The indoor decor is tasteful, and they have excellent spacing of their tables for a more private dining experience.
We went and had a piece of cake. We thought it would be a great place to come for coffee in the morning, but we didn’t make it back while in Albuquerque.
