First time trying South China and it won’t be the last! Hubby and I ordered delivery and it came way faster than we expected. The food was so fresh and hot. The portions are huge and prices are very reasonable! We ordered Triple Delight, Kung Pao Chicken, Crispy Beef, General Tso’s Triple Delight, and a Pu Pu Platter. Everything was delicious, looking forward to ordering again!
For my daughter's family graduation dinner I was in need of an easy way to feed 10 people since we would be attending parties all afternoon. South China came through for us with a delicious assortment of vegetarian and nonvegetarian food. They even made a few dishes gluten free per our request. The food was absolutely delicious and the customer service amazing. The kind woman I talked to (I think the owner's Aunt) went out of her way to make sure we had enough food and all dietary restrictions were taken care of. When my husband and I stopped by to pick up the food she also gave me a box of chocolates to give to my daughter in honor of her graduation! I truly can't say enough good things about this restaurant's food and the lovely people that work there!!
I’ve been coming here for 30 years. The food here is the standard I hold all other Chinese food to. The owners have always known my family and always ask me about them. They last few times I was missing a few items. It seems as though the next generation of this family is taking over the business slowly just remember the love your family put into the community and you guys will do great!
Loved the food! Fast friendly service! Just a few blocks from my son’s apartment while we were visiting. They accommodated us with full east-in service even close to closing time. Plenty of leftovers. We would have preferred real plates and silverware.
I've had better Chinese food, but only at places that charge $30 a plate. I was so happy to finally find GOOD Chinese takeout. We got General Tso's Chicken and Sesame Beef.
The fried rice and lo mein were passable but the main dishes rocked!
Will definitely be back!
So good!
My review is based off of what I expect good American- style Chinese takeout to taste like...This place is good. Not excellent but not bad at all. Establishment: consistent of what a great Chinese takeout should look like. Hole in the wall, *slightly* shady looking, with a person working the cash register while simultaneously taking orders over the cordless phone.
Food: down to earth, not some weird fusion organic hipster takeout. I ordered a vegetable spring roll and shrimp and broccoli. Spring roll was excellent. No duck sauce needed. Tasted exactly the way a takeout spring roll should. The shrimp was nice and firm. Not fresh caught obviously, but tasted good and didn't have any weird fishy aftertaste to it. The broccoli was perfectly cooked tender. The brown sauce was good. Not the best ever, but not bad at all. It's missing a certain umami. Maybe needs a tad bit more msg, garlic, or sugar. The sauce should also be a little thicker. It was still good and I would definitely come back. Tip: skip the reviewers who are expecting this to taste like AUTHENTIC Chinese cuisine (insert question mark meme guy). Also, skip the reviewers whose only other Chinese takeout experience has been Panda Express.
I was born & raised in Alexandria and my Grandmother used to order from here when I was a child so whenever I pass by/through Alexandria, I will stop by, still as great as it was when I was a child!
