First time I ate this kind of food, so I really do not know how to compare it. However I must say my taste buds were not disappointed.
Yum. The best place, in Anchorage, for this type of food. Actually, just one of our favorite casual restaurants. Everything we have tried is so yummy. With great food and prices, friendly staff, and a clean restaurant, what more do we need? I'm getting hungry just thinkin' about this place...to bad it's late (otherwise I know where I'd be headed). Tomorrow: lamb curry, momos, naan.....it's all soooo good.
Great lunch spot!. The rice bowls are amazing! Any combination of meat dishes and vegetarian taste great and complement each other perfectly. The chai tea is perfect for cold days too. Just be sure you listen for your name to be called. Enjoy your meal here!
Amazing ethnic food!. Oh. My. Goodness. Some friends from work took me here for lunch, and it was fabulous! Can't wait to go back. The service was friendly and the food was delicious! This was my first experience with this kind of food and I fell in love with it- absolutely amazing. Not only was it an explosion of flavors, but everything was extremely fresh as well. YUM. Update: my second trip here was not as good. Maybe it was an "off" night? I tried a paneer with spinach and it was pretty bland in comparison to other paneer dishes I have tried. My fiance got the goat curry, but he could not eat much of it because there were several bone shards in it :/
Awesome food, great prices, my new go to Indian
Consistantly delicious!. I love this place because the food is consistently excellent! The service is great too but can take a while during the busy periods but that is to be expected. It is rare to find a place in Anchorage with consistently great food at a great price with friendly service! Yak and Yeti is the trifecta of awesomeness in midtown!! Keep up the good work!
Yes, Tibetan food!. Delicious food and pleasant atmosphere. The place on Northern Lights is a sort of branch of their main restaurant on Spenard. The main restaurant has a larger menu, and most importantly, naan, which they don't have at the NL branch. Nevertheless, it is still good food, and a bit quicker for days when you don't have a lot of time. Delicious!
A Rare Gem. When it comes to good Indian food in Anchorage, your pickings are fairly slim. My fiance and I decided to give this place a try after hearing wonderful things about it from friends, and I do not regret it one bit!
We had the chicken tikki masala and the spicy goat curry - which I was delighted to find was available, as it evidently isn't always. Both dishes were excellent, and you receive a fairly large portion for the price. If I recall, the chicken was around $15 for the plate, and the goat was about $17, but they were real treats. Excellent spices, delicious sauces, and a nice heaping of rice along side. The Chai tea is easily the best I've ordered in town; I'd honestly go back just to drink it, if for nothing else!
My only complaint is that when it came to the goat curry, I received more bone-fragments than meat. What little meat given to me was delicious, but more often than not, when I went to take a bite(what looked like meat), I had to stop to remove the bone - or scrape what was edible off of it. Don't get me wrong, it was delicious, but for what I paid for I felt as though they could have given me more than a few tablespoon's worth of goat meat.
Also, they charge for the naan bread - which I've come to understand is pretty common up here, but it seems excessive to pay $1 each for a half piece of naan.
Still, it's a reccommend.
Lamb curry special. I ate here a while back and had the lamb curry special and i still think of it when I consider other currys! One of the better things i've eaten!
Great flavor that is sure to satisfy your taste buds.
