Way better than you would think. I wouldn't exactly call Arnold spoiled for choice in food options, so they're very lucky they have a place like this.
Business was pretty slow when I was there. Was served quickly and the food was really good at a reasonable price. Get the enchiladas. Portion could have been a bit bigger but otherwise I was pleased.
My wife and I live in Murphys. El Vaquero is always a go-to for us, probably once or twice a month. The family is super friendly and they enjoy what they are doing. We have not had a bad meal yet. The food is very good, and fresh. We recommend it for all ages, all families. :)
Decent, average Mexican food with a good amount of space inside and a nice patio with several tables. The drink options are limited, seems like they must have a pretty militia liquor license. The chicken enchilada was average, ready quickly, and the staff was decently friendly once they got around to taking my order, which took a bit. There's plenty of parking in the general area with a few other shops. The prices are very reasonable and they have a full menu of all the basics. They bring out complimentary chips and salsa before you order.
The food was good, the fajitas were well seasoned and everything else we ordered was very good too, like enchiladas, tamales and chile relleno. They have homemade flan that we liked very much too, and horchata. Only the churros we did not like. they have a red filling with a very artificial and empowering tasteless. They take a bit long to prepare the food, but it's worth the wait. Eating outside in the patio was a good family experience.

El vaquero is an excellent location to eat. The service is excellent. The food is exquisite and delicious. The proportions are just right. I enjoyed eating here. I highly recommend it. Don't take my word for it, go check it out and try for yourself. Gracias to the El vaquero staff, keep up the amazing work y hasta la proxima. This is authentic Mexican cuisine.
I always try the Chicken Mole in every Hispanic place. Been mostly disappointed until today. El Vaquero's Chicken Mole finally tastes like what I know how yummy it could be with the perfect balance of spices & the bitterness of chocolate - so rich and scrumptious. Definitely worth my 136-mile drive.
Been going to this little Mexican restaurant for a decade and has always been excellent! Highly recommended!

The food there is very good, we didn't wait very long at all to get our meals as a group of 7, but it wasn't even busy when we arrived. The service is wonderful, staff there were helpful and funny! They matched my crew of jokesters very well. I had myself shrimp fajitas and a bottle coke. They give you the BIG bottle, from Mexico 👌🏼 an excellent experience here.
Homemade Flan! Was very very good from what I hear. My friends have been ranking their flan and for what they came to expect from trying it around the state, they were pleasantly surprised for their quality here.

Take out only so far....tonight's Pescado a la Plancha was delightful. Loved the fresh butterfly flavor and pops of spice. Jalapeno slices with the beans was a great side dish. Super yummy!
We've been coming Arnold regularly for 10 years but we hadn't been in here to eat here for some time. We were thrilled ! The food was EXCELLENT, starting with the salsa & chips. My wife had the Bob's specials and I had the shrimp enchilada. Both plates were really tasty and the portions were more than enough. We're so happy we stopped in again and we're looking forward to coming back soon.

Absolutely some of the best Mexican food. The chips were tasty! The chicken enchiladas and the tamales were delicious. I can't wait to go back!!
Really enjoyed the food - great flavor. Friendly staff. Prices higher than expected based on reviews we had read but that could be normal based on what is happening right with inflation. The food was still great.
Pros: the staff are very attentive to our needs. The food came as we ordered. We got seated as we walked in. I like the ambiance of the place. Price of the food is reasonable. They also have my drink which is a plus 😊
Cons: When we got there and got seated, the floor was dirty. There were food left over on the ground like meat and sauces and the table seemed not wiped down. So I am unsure if someone just left that table and we just took it. The food also came slightly longer than expected, we've got 3 kids to entertain and the place got a lot of good stuff to play ispy so we were able to distract them from their hunger 😀
