We started out at La Tapateria and fate found us at Pops Garage. Now my wife is a real authentic Mexican conosur and was surprised how much she liked the grilled corn and smothered plantains. I like the bar options with the Mexican food on the side. Think we will leave the kids home next time and sit near the bar so we can get into the feel of the place. The main dining room loses that pops garage energy a bit. Highly recommend if you are looking for a pleasant surprise on an old authentic Mexican tag line. Deffinitely do the grilled corn.

What a great Mexican spot right on the boardwalk! Had the quesadilla and added shrimp; it was so much food! The salsa was yummy and the vibe was cute. The staff was super friendly. I was here on a rainy Saturday in February, I can imagine it gets pretty packed during the summer.

Went with a friend on a busy Sunday afternoon... my 1st time there. Our server was fantastic.. fast & friendly, and recommended a few things. 1st we had the chips with guac... OMG!! BEST I've ever had! So addictive!! Then we had tacos.. I had the shrimp which were just as delicious!! I was so tempted to buy more to take home! This will be my 1st stop next time I'm there! I read some weird reviews here about the food. I don't like spicy food. My tacos & the guacamole were not spicy at all... nor did they sit in liquid. They were perfect! *Side note: Someone said the tacos were small.. well if you researched a little about authentic mexican food, you'd see that this is how they are made in Mexico. (We Americans oversize everything) A few reviewers said to go to Loterias.. (or Literios. Not sure of the spelling) but THEIR tacos are like $7 each! So I guess if you have lots of money to burn, knock yourself out! 😉👍

Nice place to be on the boardwalk. Good menu selections. Service is a little slow and can be improved. I ordered soft shrimp tacos, but the tacos are so soft that it breaks. Chips and salsa is fresh and tasty. Chips are fried fresh and it’s warm to the touch. Only been here once so my review are solely on that experience.

Christine was an amazing service person. We had empanadas (2 for $20) that were SO delicious, and one chorizo chimichanga ($16 + $2) that blew me away. Every bite of food was impressive. Pictured: chimichanga

Absolutely Delicious Food !!! Please try it out service is awesome the way these people run it is just great!! I kept hearing Vicente Fernandez in the background they should share that with the music playing in the dinning area just like a mix but over all is excellent.

Very good food, we went at a busy time so they were not as fast as we had liked but they were very attentive to us and worth your business in my opinion.

Pop's Garage is a casual place. They have THE best nachos with a delicious cilantro crema and guacaverde. The veggie quesadillas were delicious as well. Many vegetarian options. It IS my favorite spot in Asbury for sure.

I finally found a place that takes care of my island vibes and love of authentic Mexican food. Love this place. Hole in the wall with an amazing view. The staff is professional & very helpful. The food is AMAZING! I know that the people in the kitchen are cooking with love. We had the shrimp fajitas with rice & beans. The margaritas were on point. I wish I lived closer but anytime that I’m near the Jersey shore, this is my go to place. I can also bring my dog so we eat & then walk my baby on the boardwalk. By the way- I wish they offered pan dulce. Love this place.

Went for a weekend lunch pretty early in the day. They were trying not to open the back area of the restaurant because they only had 1 server on duty. But when she saw that my daughter with autism was overwhelmed by the crowd in the front she gave us a table in the back without even having to ask. The food was great and it was fresh. The soda tasted a little off so maybe they need to clean the lines. But I can't wait to go back without the kids and check out those margaritas!
