Fabulous place, food was excellent, service was excellent and prices reasonable. Very clean. I would recommend it highly if you are ever in the area....

This was probably the BEST Mexican food I have ever had! I had the chimichangas and it was awesome! Service was excellent and the atmosphere was great! And the price was unbeatable! Will definitely be going back!

Athens has a ton of Mexican Food restaurants but the best by far is Dos Palmas! The prices are great, the food phenominal & the service impecable. It is also the only place my kids scrape their plates clean. The salsas they serve taste so fresh & clean. The mild is truely mild - no heat(very kid friendly) but so good - it is so full of flavor you don't need the heat. Don't worry, you hot salsa lovers will find their hot salsa has a perfect balance of heat & flavor that will make you beg for more. And you must try the queso dip (can order with or without jalapinos - or get them on the side).

I'm from France and went to visit Athens over the summer. one of the first thing I wanted to do was to try all the Mexican restaurants they had bc in France all the Mexican restaurants suck. I went to agua Linda Cali N titos Sr. Sol La fiesta dos palmas taqueria el sol on the Border and by far my favorite Mexican restaurant will definitely be Dos Palmas Mexican restaurant. the service was great and food was amazing!!!!!! Our servers name was tony i think. best server we had. I'd recommend the burrito supreme or the chicken fajitas. Id be going there next year too.
We love this place!. Great food! Love the taco salad with chicken. The kids menu serves huge portions. We are never disappointed!

Good food, service is kinda spotty. Dos Palmas is a neighborhood restaurant for me, so I've been eating here on and off for almost two years. Each table gets two bowls of tasty and fresh salsa, one mild and one hot. The chips are always hot and fresh, as is everything here.
The food is great, I've never been disappointed, try the Tacos de Pescado for a different treat. The prices are right, lunch is a great deal, as are the happy hour specials.
The negative about Dos Palmas is their lack of consistency with servers. You just never know what you are going to get, they seem to have a crazy high turnover rate in waitstaff. It had been a while since I had eaten at Dos Palmas until tonight, I decided "Why not give them another chance".
We were "pointed" to a table by the hostess, I had to confirm when we got there that it was the right one. The server forgot the water requested with our drinks. After an inordinately long wait, our server (who had asked us several times if we wanted to order apps, cheese dip, etc.) finally asked us if we were going to eat or just drink beer.
Hmm... I asked if we could just eat what we had ordered already... she kind of looked sick and ran off. Yes... she forgot to put our our order in!
Stuff like this is why I stopped going in, too many mistakes by the waitstaff, who mostly act like they couldn't care less. Too many times of not getting everything I ordered, having to check the bill like a hawk to be sure it's correct, rude, drunk or just plain sorry waitstaff make Dos Palmas a place I avoid. I like the food and I like the atmosphere, but there are just too many other places that do it all correctly to reward Dos Palmas with my cash.
Food was amazing, staff was friendly and consistent. We as a family have some picky eaters and all of us were impressed with the food. Loved the queso dip and their shredded chicken nachos. Also, personally I don't drink, but as a photographer the reflection on the tables from the bar lights were cool to me.
I like to go when they first open so it's not that busy. I rarely have to wait very long for the server to take my drink and menu order. Chips are served with mild and hot sauce while waiting on the order. The meal is very good.
When paying with cash, they don't give exact change, unless specifically requested. They'll round to the closest dollar.
Such great tasting food and lots of it! We love everything we ate, starting with mild salsa, guacamole and chips, steak fajitas and chimichangas.
Dos Palmas is my favorite maragita spot. I've been coming here for years. They have the best Maragitas in TOWN hands DOWN!! All it takes for me is 1 1/2 Rita's to get me TOASTY! Happy Hour is everyday from 4-7pm $2 Rita's!!! Garrenteed to get u LIT. The food is great too. They have daily food specials that u just can't pass up. Great customer service too. Love this place.
