If you've heard of it, go. Food is legit and generous. I'll need to try more of the sauces. The one I didn't mesh well with was their vinegar one, has an extra earthiness I wasn't looking for. I'm used to Carolina style offerings in that regard but the other one I had was great. Meat is tender and smoky and everything you want in a proper 'Q. Just be prepared to eat standing up as it isn't a restaurant as much as it is a food stand. Or if you live nearby take it home and enjoy it.
Visited here for the first time and it was so delicious. It is a small location with some outside tables to eat around and a convenience store next to it. We ordered our food online when we got there and they brought our food out pretty quickly. Let me just say that the food is fantastic and I can’t wait to return and try something else. It is right next to the river and some walking trails so easy access after a walk.
A delightful hole in the wall. Almost as if only those that have been there can find it. Super fast service I think 7 minutes from online order to meal in hand. The spicy pork is fantastic and the sandwich is a refreshing take in a classic pulled pork . The Mac and cheese is some of the best. The sweet potatoes are greater than the sum of parts. The ribs are unbelievably tender and dipped in the Korean BBQ sauce rival the best traditional. And the miso in the collared greens takes them to a new dimension.
The brisket and korean pork were pretty good but was a bit dry! The flavor was great, I liked all the sauces. The kimchi slaw, mac n cheese, and pickled radish were delicious. Nice standing area with heaters to eat outside
The fried chicken which is a Wednesday special was stellar. The bbq items were good. Brisket was okay, the Korean style spicy pork was the best BBQ item. The chicken was dry.
The barbecue was a nice blend of Korean and Southern style. Ordering and dining was a bit weird since it all had to be done outside on a phone and the tables were all high tables with no chairs. My guess is it caters heavily towards to go patrons. Otherwise, friendly service.
The pork rinds were super fresh, crispy, and delicious. Much better than you'd find store-bought and worth ordering.
I liked the sweet potato chips but some were soft. I would have preferred them all to be crispy, but taste wise was very delicious.
The kimchi slaw was nice and fresh, and had great flavor. Texture was nice and crunchy which was enjoyable.
I got the Korean BBQ pork sandwich. The bun was phenomenal, the meat was full of Smoky flavor and the meat was tender and full of flavor.
My girlfriend got the brisket which was also tasty but a bit dry. We tend to enjoy a bit more moist brisket.
Ooo-Wee! Having only moved to the area about a year ago(and so much to explore), my gf and I are only sad about one thing...we didn't come sooner! We ordered a brisket taco & a spicy pork taco, mac 'n cheese, Korean sweet potato and house fries. Bomb af! Everything was so good that we ordered more food to bring home! P.S. order lots of kimchi mayo on the side to go with everything! Special shoutout to Jackie!! She was nothing short of phenomenal! So personable, funny and a delightful addition we didn't expect on our visit! Could have easily stayed longer just to chat with her! She gave us insight on where else we need to visit to satisfy our gluttonous needs...thank you so much Jackie! Ya know, the whole thing couldn't have been pulled off without the support of all of their staff. Kudos to all the BOH staff, job very well done and thank you all as well! Man, we cannot wait to go back!! Bravo HMBBQ! This is how it's done...this is the way!
Quirky BBQ joint. You order online for takeout, or you can eat on the patio outdoors. There is no indoor seating. There are bar tables and a counter to stand in a covered area. All that being said,it is worth it! My brisket sandwich was delicious, as was the kimchi coleslaw. Also, in my party, a pulled pork and chicken sandwich was ordered. Everyone loved it. It's definitely worth a stop if you're in the area. I almost forgot to mention the poker rinds and Mac and cheese, both very tasty.
TLDR: I spent $80 in Ubers to grab this food onto the plane back home. I have no regrets.
Heirloom was recommended to me by a friend before the Michelin guide wrote anything. I just happened to go on the weekend they announced it so it was super busy. Somehow they still got my food out super fast and I whisked it away via plane to my home in Boston.
All of it tasted great. I regret not buying via the pound of specific meats but what did I know since this was my first time?
My fav experience was dipping the brisket into the gochu bbq sauce. It created this amazing briney flavour that I have never experienced. The pork belly was also delicious. We also picked up a rack of ribs that tasted amazing with the dark bbq sauce. Order extra for a saucy time.
For sides and dessert, the mac and cheese was a perfect ratio. Not too dry but also not the super creamy type. The sweet potato fries were so much fun. The beans were also gorgeous and I could put those with any of the meats. What stood out was the pecan pie. We don’t have good pecan pie up here. The crust and consistency of this pie was beautiful. I miss it already. Would recommend they try a brown butter filling sometime.
Absolutely LOVE Heirloom BBQ! Been several times but this time I got the HM HOT Chicken Sandwich with a side of the fried tofu. AMAZING!!! The flavors were astounding and generous proportion of chicken. I forgot to take a pic because I was so hungry and it was so delicious. While you may have to wait a little while to pick up your order they are very orderly and friendly, and keep you super warm under their heaters on a cold night. Highly highly recommend, it’s worth the hype.
Every side and meat we had was delicious. They have a unique take on everything. Must try. Attached to a convenience store as well so you can grab a drink to wash it all done.
Food is great! But they need a place to sit. All was excellent but seating and service needs a tick..
This is an Asian bbq but do not let that dissuade you. I had the pulled pork sandwich, mac&cheese, and slaw. All excellent. This is not a sit down restaurant. You order on line and pick-up your food. They do have tables outside in a heated enclosed area but you have to stand. The food and staff are excellent.
What a hidden gem. Great brisket, sides and dips. Tomato kimchi was memorable. Definitely worth checking out
I had the brisket sandwich. It was in the top 3 brisket sandwiches I've ever had. Was greeted by who I think was the owner. Polite and down to earth. No place to sit and eat. There were a few tables you could stand at. If you're looking for some great BBQ you can grab and go, this is your place. Order was ready in 5 minutes or less.
Glad I finally got to try this highly rated spot. As others have mentioned it’s best to order online and pick up. No dine in service although you can stand and eat your food in the patio area.
Had the ribs, spicy Korean bbq plate and a 2 meat plate with Korean bbq and pulled pork. Sides were Mac and cheese, sweet potatoe katsu, and coleslaw. Everything tasted amazing except the pulled pork which was bland and the buns were meh. Loved the sauce that came with the sweet potatoe + the sweet heat dipping sauce and the Mac and cheese was really good!
The spicy Korean bbq wasn’t as spicy as I thought it would be (it’s just a hint of it)
It’s not fancy. There’a not even a place to sit and eat, but it is tasty! The kimchi coleslaw is great. The fried sweet potatoes kept their crunch even after an additional 45 min car ride. But most importantly, the ribs are smoky, juicy, and tender. They also have excellent brisket and smoked chicken. Their mention in the Michelin Guide is well deserved!
Also, ordering ahead is easy and efficient.
Yes to ALL things on this menu. You can’t go wrong. Today, we had the brisket and Korean pork. My husband would prefer the brisket to be a little more saltier but it was still very good and moist. The pork is chopped and smothered in a reddish spicy sauce. It wasn’t sweet, which I like. The kimchi mayo is amazing; creamy, mildly spicy, and sweet.
The Korean sweet potato chips are a must. They’re about 1/8 in thick in a sweet ginger syrup and sprinkled with roasted sesame seeds. So good!
The brisket chili is yummy!!!! About a medium-hot spice level. It comes with big chunks of brisket and topped with shredded cheese and cream.
Pork rinds were perfect! Crunchy but not hard and seasoned well. Too easy to eat.
We ordered from our phone with a QR code. They always had someone right outside their door to help with any questions. He told us that the owner-chefs are Jiyeon, a South Korean ex-pat and Cody (a Texas born, Tennessee raised, Atlanta trained Chef), together they created “Seoul" classic Southern Food. Fun fact: JiJi was a Korean Popstar in her past life 🤩
There have some hightop tables outside with umbrellas to shade and heaters to keep you warm on a cold day like today (45 degrees F). They’ll escort you inside if you need to use the Restrooms. (No seating inside)
We had many friends tell us to go here and it did not disappoint. Definitely will be back.
