December 1, 2016 · by willoughbyandy · in Asian, Atlanta (Inside the Perimeter), Georgia, Roswell / Sandy Springs · Leave a comment. As I was heading to meet some folks in Vinings, I went back to the well of the original list, once again, and looked at the options.  I found that Sushi Huku was on the list and on the way.  While it has a Sandy Springs address, it is right there at Akers Mill and Powers Ferry (near 285), in the Publix shipping center.  I was offered a seat at the sushi bar and perused the menu.  They were doing a swift business for a Thursday night and I watched the sushi chefs making a couple of rolls while I made my choice.

This place is amazing. I had the sashimi dinner at the sushi bar and I was thinking about going back tomorrow night for the omakase. It is a great sushi joint.

Great sushi, had a large sample of it and would recommend the soft shell crab and spicy tuna roll. Service was sub par however.

My wife grew up in Japan. She was very skeptical when I told her we were going to an authentic Japanese restaurant. I trusted the reviews. She grinned ear to ear the whole time. She called her mom and twin sister to inform them this is her new favorite restaurant. She felt like she was home in Japan from decor to taste. Thank you Urbanspoon!

Great find! I travel a lot for business and love good sushi. Quiet atmosphere, but easy to have fun. Wait staff gave great recommendations. Will definitely be back next time I'm in town.

Good, but..... After reading all the reviews I thought I ate at a different restaurant...but apparently not. I was solo and sat at the sushi bar for a quick bite now that I moved to the 'hood. The place reminds me of a place I used to eat at alot outside of Berkeley, CA...so I was excited...they do have a great selection of sushi and rolls...I wanted hot soup over everything and a roll. Got the spicy tuna roll which was big and tasty, the traditional starter bowl of warm edamame...but my issue was with my soup. I tried to communicate that I wanted a meat free broth with noodles...miso would of been fine as it is water based...but the waitress really didn't seem to understand what I was asking...so I said "vegetarian" and she pointed at the Kake Udon and I said fine...I became frustrated because after the fact I listen to the sushi maker talk to the other one in accent free English...could he not of maybe helped a bit? Whatever...just a customer service thing for me...got my bowl of almost cooked noodles with two pieces of sliced fish cake...mm mm not...broth was salty and I got tired of chewing...so threw in the towel. Outside of the air conditioner that was dripping a foot from my arm...not the best experience but will definitly give them another chance to redeem!

Simply awesome. Probably the best sushi restaurant I've ever eaten at. The sushi and sashimi are always extremely fresh. Try the Toro (commonly called fatty tuna) it's like a little piece of heaven in your mouth. Pink lady roll and my old standby spicy tuna roll. I love nagiri and this place does it right. Sushi Huku is run by Japanese people and they honor the traditions of Japanese restaurants. You won't find better sushi in Atlanta.

Best Sushi. The sushi and sashimi is some of the freshest and best I have ever had, the service is excellent and the prices are high; but you get what you pay for!

BEST SUSHI EVER!. I'm from san francisco where japanese food is abundant but even compared to the west i have to say sushi huku was my BEST japanese food experience. the fish is so fresh and the uni just melts in your mouth. i was visiting atlanta and read reviews for this place. i was NOT disappointed. i walked in and asked the chef what he recommended and he carefully and very thoughtfully explained what was fresh and prepared it for me.
it was such an intimate experience... i felt THIS is how japanese is supposed to be.

waitresses in kimonos served and the place was packed. a lot of greetings in japanese and i tried their udon and tempura because i was super hungry and they were amazing! the broth was very authentic and not the powdery kind. oh and the best thing is, their fresh wasabi! almost all japanese places use powder cheap form but you can tell how much sushi huku values quality by giving even fresh wasabi.

i thoroughly enjoyed the meal, the service, and the chef's sharing. i will make sure sushi huku is a "must go" each time i'm in georgia., it was definitely, undoubtedly the best. arigato

Sushi Huku is one of my favorite sushi joints in Atlanta; it's often called "strip club sushi due to its proximity to a certain large adult entertainment establishment (I don't recall the name). They have high quality chefs and product and I would put them second behind Sushi House Hayakawa ( http://www.atlfoodsnob.com/?p=612 ) . The service is excellent and they always have good specials; while they are not as original as Hayakawa, they succeed in quality preparation and ingredients. My favorites include the grilled yellowtail cheek and the shrimp dumplings. Their bento boxes for lunch have an incredible amount of food and always offer tons of different options; at $13, they offer one of the best deals in Atlanta! Bento box with tempura, spicy tuna roll, salmon, rice and veggies - way too much food! The last time I went was for lunch and I had the nigiri/spicy tuna roll combo and was not disappointed! The salmon and tuna were great, but the star was the fluke with crushed salmon roe a

This is Jay Oh, the young and driven sushi chef/artisan at Sushi Huku . The last few months I've been on a personal mission to learn a lot about sushi, and Gene Lee has been kind enough to assist in my education by taking me to Jay-San's excellent restaurant. Prior to our first visit I read Gene's fantastic post on Huku and his relationship with his itamae and was intrigued. It sounded much like the experience I had at MF Buckhead in the omakase room , a surreal sushi experiences. Not just because the fish was amazing, but I enjoyed the personal interaction and education with Chef Kinjo.

Great sushi, vibe and service! Miso soup was one of the best I’ve ever had. 8 rolls of sushi came out within 10 min of ordering. Server was attentive in refilling water.

Very excellent. Similar quality (high price also) of downtown ATL sushi restaurants, but you get what you pay for. The sashimi has that wonderful sweetness that only comes from fresh and well handled product. Wide variety and availability of speciality and regular items. Huku bowl is a must. Rolls are also well done.

First time here. Amazing and fresh sushi. Tried three different rolls. The fried squid appetizer was delicious. It was cooked to perfection and was not chewy at all. Great attentive and happy staff. Will be back soon

Incredible meal. Chef's Plate was among the better selections of sushi I've been served under $60 in recent memory, and the "New Paige" roll was a delightful, wholly original surprise symphony of flavors. Sake brands were chosen well, Otokoyama was fresh and balanced, and you can't beat fresh Orion on draft- the KING of Japanese lagers. Service was good, ambiance was stylish and welcoming... I can't recommend this place enough if you want a nice, authentic Japanese meal of the utmost quality.

A hidden gem. Their sushi is fantastic and some of the best I've had in Atlanta. The New Page roll is a personal favorite! Everything is always very consistent and fresh. Would recommend to anyone. Love that the rolls are more traditional and not just covered in different sauces like you find at other sushi spots in the city.

So I must say my very first impression of this place was just-Wow. Food was great. The hot green tea was delicious and served in traditional-like cups. Service was great. One of the most fresh Sushi I've had in this area. There was a little mixup with my bill since my waitress was new. They were so apologetic and fixed it immediately. I was impressed overall and will be returning.

Since moving to Marietta, we’ve been looking for a quality sushi restaurant and with the pandemic, we do not go out as often. We came to Sushi Huku with my mother in law and 11 week old son and social distancing/ mask requirements were being enforced (thank you!) and the sushi was incredible. We love sashimi and the tuna and yellowtail were the standout pieces (so fresh!) the wait staff was also very attentive even though the restaurant was at capacity on a Saturday night! Highly recommend

I came here out of random to eat out for a friend's birthday, so I had no kind of expectations for the restaurant. When I noticed they only supply chopsticks for eating utensils I was so relieved I ordered food that didn't really need a spoon or fork. I'm horrible with chopsticks lol. The waiter was very cool and helpful when I was trying to figure out what to eat that I've never tried before. I went with fried octopus and was not disappointed! If I were to come back it would be for that dish alone. I would recommend eating here, just be aware that you will need to know how to use chopsticks.

I love this place!! Definitely my favorite sushi place. It’s so good and staff is always very friendly. The Lambada roll is amazing. I also like the Home Depot roll. Their menu has pictures of most of the special rolls, which is helpful. The atmosphere is very relaxing, great for dates.

The service was great and the food was good with a couple of stand-out dishes. We really enjoyed the crab croquette appetizers and I thought the Saba nigiri was very good. I was a little disappointed to see salmon on my nigiri assortment. I understand that many people like salmon, but in my opinion it’s too vanilla and it doesn’t belong on an omakase sushi assortment.

Stopped in and was seated right away. There were plenty of open tables. I had the tofu miso soup and it was quite tasty. I also had the koda roll, a square sushi with no seaweed. It was full of flavor. Service was solid. The floors were sticky.. Plenty of free parking. Great sushi experience.

Love this place. The sushi is delicious and the service is great. They bring you a hot towel at the beginning of the meal and it's fabulous. I've been a few times and never been disappointed. Highly recommend the Lambada roll, it was fantastic!

The service and food at the place are first rate. I’ve been going here since 2001, and have lived all over the US since then. This place is the best sushi I’ve ever had, it was even better than the best places I went when in lived in NYC. Can’t recommend this place enough, the prices are reasonable and the decor is lovely. On and added bonus for the ladies out there, this is not a joke, the Miso soup cured cured my girlfriends period pains. Again not kidding on that last point. You’re welcome, ladies.
