They are still open and the food is good.If you are a veggie person you cam get a small veggie dinner to go for 5 bucks an some change.

Some of the best Soul Food in Atlanta. A friend told me about Walter's after we visited the Beautiful. I've been going ever since. Walter's food is consistent. The fried chicken is the best, as is the mac & cheese. I've tried the turkey wings, barbecue chicken, and short ribs. They are all delicious. As far as sides: the cabbage, green beans, mashed potatoes, and mac & cheese are all great. I really do like Walters. The staff is friendlier than the folks at the Beautiful also. It is also a better value than the Beautiful.
My daughter's Kyla's Favorite Restaurant.. I have been going here for years and consider Walter an old friend. This is my daughter's Kyla's Favorite Restaurant in Town. I usually try to go early when it opens, I have found to be the best times. Consistent, is the word that would come to mind to describe Walter's. His restaurant is a cornerstone to understanding and enjoying a truly authentic American cuisine, Soul Food.

The place that changed my life!. I visited the small comfortable restaurant one day looking for some real soul food. Soon as I walked in I notice women serving food that looked as if they dedicate their life to their work. Then I saw a clean cut guy that helped serve, greet, and clean. I need the hospitality was here because I noticed it between the workers. As the line became shorter and I got closer to the food, it was looked like my grandma's cooking! I couldn't wait to sit down and eat what Walter him self served me! He said, " have a seat and enjoy as if he knew that it was my first time in his establishment. The taste was equal to the hospitality! I gave it a ten thumbs up!!! I made that my every sunday spot, until I moved to Florida! But I just haven't been able to find a soul food restaurant like it ever since! I just wanted to let Mr. Walter know that I thank him for my life changing experience and now every other soul food restaurant will be held up to your standards! Thanks once again!
A local area gem. I'll start by recommending that you get that early as parking can be a bit tricky. Once inside, the place may look a bit unassuming, but the meal was turly good. It was one of the few places that serves turnip greens, so that was definitely a highlight. They did leave out a component of my order but later brought it out. Overall, it was a good experience while visiting.

The food is good, they have a nice variety. So come early because some dinners run out quickly. The servers are very friendly & helpful, the restaurant is fairly small & can get crowded very quickly at times especially during lunch hour & Sundays. Keep up the good work!! First time in and I loved it they had a warm and loving feeling and the food is proof of just that.
There is a very slow wait and sometimes it's worth it but they take forever to fill your order. Plus the inside could use a face lift, that's why nobody eats in there. But the food is good. I gotta give them that one. This is my second time there and won't be the last, I just won't dine in until they care about their lobby.

I'm here in town visiting my brother from Arizona, when I tell you after trying the BBQ chicken, mac n cheese, collards, cornbread and sweet potato pie I did everything but lick the plate!! This food was everything!!

I had a 4 veggie plate. Lima beans and rice, collards, and mac and cheese with corn bread. It was delicious. The decor is very dated and the staff is pretty dry and sassy at the same time lol. One of the woman on the line was being stingy with the mac n cheese to. And the location is on Bleveland Ave. keep ya head on a swivel.

I had a wonderful experience at Walter's! I went at the end of the day, less than an hour before closing, so they were all out of dessert and sweet potatoes, but the woman working the cash register went back to check to see if there was any more in the back or if any more had been made. I ordered the ribs with Mac and cheese and greens. The whole meal was good! The mac and cheese was seasoned, cheesy and wasn't dry or super thick. It also had that baked cheese layer on the top that set it off the way mac should be set off!! Lol the greens were also good. They were flavorful and there was pepper sauce on the side for us pepper sauce users lol... now, on to the ribs. The ribs were good! They didn't fall off of the bone, but they weren't tough at all. I didn't really care for their sauce because it's more of a sweet sauce than a spicy or tangy sauce, but it was good for a sweet sauce. Sweet Barbecue sauce just isn't my preference. Completely no shade to them. The staff was also an absolute joy. I will definitely be back again
This is my “go to” soul food spot right now. I go here atleast once a week and the do not disappoint. The area is sketchy, but the best soul food places and in sketchy areas. I’m willing to take the risk every time! My favorite is the Salisbury Steak with rice. NOTE: I usually go to this place when they first open.

We're from Florida and was looking for some soul food. Their food and staff were amazing, they helped us decide. Awesome customer service! Do not leave with the banana pudding and lemon cake, soooooo delicious. We even went back a second time before leaving. Thank you ladies for all you do!
