Small restaurant with limited inside seating upstairs and a large bar downstairs. My husband and daughter loved their burgers and had super crispy fish and chips, which I enjoyed. My other daughter had chicken tenders, which is your typical breaded and fried tenders platter with fries. We didn't stay for dessert because my daughter spotted a mouse under the table across from us, and then we all continued to see it visit the dining room as we finished our meal. We were told when it gets cold they get a few mice inside but I'd prefer eating establishments to have this kind of issue under control.
After going on a Atlantic Cruise i visited Back Bay. They have tables outside and inside. I chose outside. We ordered and the food did not take long at all. The waiter was friendly and extremely helpful. Thoroughly enjoyed.
Love coming here…grabbing some mussels and Ruby Reds…Back Bay 1858 Pale Ale is delicious!!! Love the view of the boats, and casinos across the bay. Sun comes down over the casinos makes for great photos! Outdoor seating and Dog Friendly!
The food 😋 was wonderful, wings melt in your mouth, my steak was cooked perfect, our drinks were mixed just right! Our server Rocked, she was helpful all night while we were there! Don't miss this gem you won't be disappointed!! Team work by everyone...Great job!
Super fun atmosphere and location. You may have a wait during peak times but there is an outdoor area where you can have some great drinks while you might. Loved their spicy watermelon drink. Serious heat!
What an incredible place. Go around sunset and sit upstairs like we did. Excellent food. The jerk chicken and shrimp was amazing !
I can only imagine how much fun this place is during the summer. With patio and back deck with crowds of people. This is obviously an older establishment, so don't expect a whole lot of room or new finishes. It has character people would say. The staff is friendly and hard working.
I do not receive any kind of compensation or discounts for my reviews. I am an average customer just like you. I am a person who values cleanliness and quality food in a safe environment. We work too hard for our money to spend it in establishments that do not value us as customers.
Back Bay is a good dive if you want great food in a friendly, inviting but interesting atmosphere. We tried the crab bisque and poutine, both delivered. Definitely worth stopping by n
Lovely little treasure. A little difficult to navigate getting there but well worth it! The food was decently priced and so delicious! Drinks were fun and simple but very tasty too. Next time we are in AC, we'll definitely be adding a stop here to try out some of the items we were eyeing up.
Nice and cozy low end place with great food, good beer, and service I enjoy more than service in many high end places.
It is definitely on my come back list.
Best food I had on my trip to Atlantic City! I had the mussels in white sauce and they were out of this world. My husband had seafood Alfredo and the seafood was well cooked and fresh. Great beer selection. Staff was very helpful in helping me make a selection. Staff great overall. Very laid back, local bar feel. Would recommend and definitely return next time I'm there!
This place was perfect! It was a beautiful day and Mom and I sat on the front porch and had a delicious meal. We both got the seafood platter with fried cod, shrimp, crab cake and a side. I got rice, Mom got fries. Rice was a lil hard, fries were on point! I also got the bob marley drink which was fantastic!! Im definitely feeling it! 🍹
Highly recommend. Staff was friendly, food was awesome, and they even served a great margarita! Being from Texas, I am usually disappointed when I order a margarita, but this one was spot on! You can definitely taste the tequila! We will be back!
Back Bay Ale House definitely is one of our favorite restaurants in Atlantic City. It just speaks summer vacation and delicious food and drinks. We usually start with their juju shrimp, mussels and margaritas for appetizers. The Maryland crab over steak, the Delmonico steak, the Guiness burger and the Cali Cobb are all highly recommened. Sept update
Whenever we do a day at the beach, we look forward to dinner at the Back Bay Ale House. The place just reminds me of the shore. We sat on the porch and the service, drinks and food were delicious! My margarita was perfect...not too sweet and not too sour. The cream of crab soup is so good. The mussels, were the best...tender and no sand. I had the Cali cobb salad and it was fresh and presented beautifully. The Guinness burger, by far, is one of the juiciest, flavorful burgers around. I need to take more trips to the shore, so we can visit the Back Bay Ale House again.
9/11/23. Yep, we were able to make our yearly trip to Back Bay. We sat on the porch and the appetizers of shrimp, fried string beans and mussels were so very good. My margarita was perfect and Back Bay makes them just right. My son had the steak Delmonico with crabmeat, I had the crab cake sandwich and my daughter had a salad with grilled chicken but everyone’s favorite was the fish and chips. Looking forward to our return trip for some more awesome food.
Very nice place by the water. Good portion size. We were a party of four. We have ordered the mixed sea food platters, lobster rolls and crab cake sandwich. Delicious food with affordable price in Atlantic city.
Decided to drop in after an afternoon dolphin watching cruise. We were promptly seated in the nice outdoor seating area. The menu is pretty expansive with so many interesting dishes on the menu, it was really hard to choose. We opted to start off with the clam chowder and for entrees we chose the seafood sampler and shrimp, crab and broccoli alfredo. The chowder was exactly what we needed after a 3 hour boat tour—hot, creamy, and delicious. The shrimp and fish were good in the seafood sample but the crab cake was way too fishy tasting for me. The alfredo was delicious. I ordered a frozen margarita which packed a good punch. We enjoyed the ambiance and service overall. Will definitely come back and sample other items off of the menu.
My wife, her cousin and boyfriend, and myself were looking for good food before the Chicage concert and we found this place. The food, the restraint, and the staff were absolutely awesome. I had the jerk shrimp and the crab covered steak, everyone else had the crab fettuccine Alfredo. Everything was fresh and delicious. A hidden gem with a great veiw. If you have not tried this place, next time you are in Atlantic City swing by and enjoy a great meal with great people.
Great food…
Very tasty and good prices
We actually ordered and picked up.
But we will definitely dine in next time
Drinks were a little pricey, food was good though. Atmosphere is okay. $8 for a draught beer is a little steep in my opinion. I'm younger so I don't care much for the 'fancy' food on the menu, I'd rather have cheap drinks and simple food. Nice if you're going there for actual dinner though. A table of 4 (with minimal alcohol) came out to $180 before tip. 1 appetizer, 2 drinks and 2 beers and an entree for each person. The liquor alone was probably 60-70 bucks. If you're in town and can actually find the place (it's a maze to even get there) and you want a decent dinner that's casual for friends/couples this place is probably good for you. If you just wanna drink go to the Irish pub. Service was good I will say that
