A gem of E 6th St. with great movies, good food + beer and the coolest of retro trailers you'll see anywhere.

Great experience. Balcony seats with your own server is the way to see a movie (pricey but well worth it). The movie was great (Baby Driver) and the service and food were both good. Probably something we'd include on every trip to Austin.

Everyone was very helpful and the place was so clean and welcoming. The movie (Phantom Thread) was beautiful in 70mm and the food and service were excellent. I will go there again for special presentations. ❤️

Master pancake was amazing. True comedic genius and got to see the original creators of the movie riffing genre while here. Doesn't get better than that. Awesome place, great service and a fun time!

I always love visiting the Ritz for those 'can't miss' movies. The staff is super helpful and upbeat, the food and drink is always good, and the accommodations are great. I love their policy of one warning then you are escorted out for people who are talking/texting. Perfect atmosphere for the movies you seriously want to see!

Had a wonderful experience while sitting in the balcony section yesterday! My waiter was very friendly and was always checking up on me while I was enjoying the movie. She also was helpful at answering questions along with several other employees. The balcony section was very clean and very enjoyable. The couches were so comfortable and persuaded me that there is no other way to watch a movie in Austin but from those seats. I love the free parking that comes along with balcony packages as well. Alamo is the best!

The best theater for cult cinema fans. Terror Tuesday and Weird Wednesday are cultural treasures that preserve a legacy of the motion picture arts often overlooked and tossed aside. The Alamo Drafthouse (and the Ritz in particular) is an Austin institution and one of the reasons I never want to leave.

love going to the Drafthouse! if people have to pay for parking, I would venture to say it's not on Draftohouse property. We attended in downtown Austin and paid for parking on the street, not the property. Love going to a place where no interruptions are tolerated, screaming kids don't disrupt the movie-going experience, and people who are rude by using their cell phones are kicked out. The waiters walking in front of you are not a disruption, because they are a level below where you're sitting. People coming into a theater are a disruption; movie time should be seated time.

It blows me away to walk into this tiny carpeted old lobby, up a little narrow staircase and then into this absolutely cavernous theater. You would never guess from the street that all that space up there. When do we ever get to casually be in rooms that big anymore? Costco? It’s so cool that after all these years the Ritz remains used for its original purpose. If you get an opportunity to see a 70 mm movie there that you are excited about- you should do it. Tickets for those are pricy but what an experience! Phantom Thread was gorrrgeous. I went yesterday for my third viewing of the excellent Mr. Rogers doc. This might seem like a movie you can wait to see on Netflix but I assure you, the magnitude of the message is perfectly apropo on a huge screen in the dark with strangers… Truly a film that needs to be the only thing you are focused on. Our excellent server, Spencer, provided a really nice touch walking around offering Kleenex before the show. If you’ve seen it you know what I mean. My seared tofu sandwich was more delicious than it needed to be and my vegan companion loved their buffalo cauliflower. Best syrup to CO2 ratio for sodas in town, btw! Parking is no fun downtown but if you go on a Sunday it’s a nonissue and* free. I’ll end by saying having a theater that will enforce a no talking/texting rule is absolutely priceless. I’m so proud that Alamo Drafthouse is from my hometown. Thank you guys, so so much, for everything you do for cinema in the ATX!

I love and miss this theatre especially for their opening nights and movie parties. That Taylor Swift one, though; SO FUN! And every time before opening night they staff on stage always goes the extra length to show their enthusiasm. The props at this location are always good. Austin has the best Alamo Drafthouses.

We love alamo! Food is always good, good shakes and excellent selection of beers, good service. I would give it 5 stars if they update their sound system, it's a bit old and you can hear it. Other than that it's always a great place to enjoy a movie with good food and service!

Alamo Drafthouse Ritz comfort and overall visual experience is the same compared to its other locations, plus the convenience of being located downtown, offering the convenience of popping a couple beers after a good movie at the many bars located nearby.

I love going here for the quote along. They usually have fun interactive swag to use during the film. It's a lot of fun. And the food is pretty good.

Stopped here to see the joker. It’s a little old time feeling inside and I would like to see it be a little cleaner and keep the same feel. That would be the reason for the reduced star. The volume on the movie was just a little too high. Overall though, I really liked this place. The popcorn was excellent and the prices for the food seemed fair. I really like that they use reusable dishes for their food. I would like to see the wait staff in the theater be a little more friendly. The guy waiting on us seemed like he was annoyed to be waiting on us, like he was doing us a favor to allow us to be in his presence. Overall it was a good experience, hopefully if the employee with the man bun reads this he’ll be reminded that it never hurts to be friendly and welcoming to people.

I love that there are waiters that take your order while watching the movie. You simply write the order on paper, place it standing up & a waiter comes by very quickly to grab the order & they put it in immediately. The menu has many delish snacks, and pizza. I'd highly recommend the Carnivore Pizza! There's adult drinks like margaritas, cocktails, and beer. The restrooms were very nice and clean, with toiletries for the ladies. It's a small theater with only 2 screens but I still had the best time!!!

I don't think it is possible to ever have a poor rating for any Alamo. I go often enough that if it was possible to receive poor service, I would have received it by now. This is not my usual Drafthouse, but this is the Alamo, and that means service is still exemplary, staff is awesome, food is hot, and the quote along was everything we expected. The Alamo should be in every city across the state. One been going through and posting reviews today thanks to a prompt from Google. I've posted on several pages today and they've not all been great. I have been to the Alamo probably close to fifty times over my four years here in Austin and it is always a great experience. I've never had to speak to the manager or complain to my server or leave a bad review. They are consistently fantastic. You do you Alamo. You guys are great!

Awesome experience! The dining service doesn't intervene with the movie due the unique floor plan of their theaters. The food was good, though their menu has a lot of messy dishes that could prove difficult to eat in the dark. I especially enjoyed the custom pre-movie entertainment; a way better movie intro than a barrage of trailers!

The Ritz is an older theater that reminds me of movies showcasing vaudevilike. I'm not sure how old it actually is, but it is a beautiful theater. As a person who is wider than most the seats are a bit small, but I can still get my ample posterior in. There are a lot of stairs to get to the theaters, but there is a tiny, slow elevator if stairs are your nemesis. The food is typical of any Alamo Drafts House - delicious and subject to specials based on the movies and events presented. Service is a bit hit or miss, but once you get everything it is delicious. I have a serious food allergy and at this Alamo I've never had any issue.

Get tickets early, reserved seats, great vibe, I haven't had bad food and I've tried pizza, sandwiches, apps, vegan, and beer. You can get in and out during the movie if you are willing to slip under the awesome tables. Arrive 30 minutes early to get awesome clips and fun. Look online for fun shows and some cool stuff like old movies and fun parties. Go here please, but don't steal my seat.

This is a fantastic place to watch a movie on a nice afternoon with friends. The atmosphere is really great and I really enjoy having food and drinks with my friends while watching movies. Really great spot and location with fantastic ambience that just cannot be beat. Always looking forward to the next movie here so that I can enjoy spending time with my friends. Very interesting concept and I would recommend this to everyone. Interesting thing about this theater is that they really focus on etiquette and insist that people act appropriately, which is a very refreshing experience given how often people speak during movies. Glad that this concept has reached Austin.

Had its pros and cons. The essence of filmmaking really presents itself here. Perhaps what I liked most. I have never been a fan of people crunching on nachos like they are feeding a wood chipper while I'm trying to watch a movie. I think the admission fee is a bit high for matinee. The place was clean and employees were very friendly. I would recommend

I was upset when they turned my favorite music venue, The Ritz, into a movie theater oh so many years ago. However, look how well it turned out! They've been serving great movie-themed food for years, and the service is always quick and perfect. The amazing videos they play before the movie starts are always a wonderful vintage montage of weird relics from the past. I only watch movies at the Alamo.

I've been wanting to come to the original Alamo for awhile and I wasn't disappointed at all. My first experience with Alamo was in Houston and the Austin location is just as good. Our waiter Alex was courteous, attentive, and timely in getting food and drinks to us and the movie was great. The theatre itself has lots of character as well.

My favorite movie theater of all time! Good selection of beers and alcoholic milkshakes. The food is also good, especially the queso, fries and pizza. The service is always very good and doesn't bother you while you are watching a movie. The Ritz also has Master Pancake, which is a comedy show based on a movie which you have to check out, they are hilarious.
