I really enjoyed spending my money at a Black Owned Restaurant. The food was delicious. The equipment on the inside along with the floors needs to be replaced. The staff was very friendly. My kids got the chicken tenders plate and was supper excited that it was better than most fast food places.
I can't breathe!!! I'm so full! The plates are worth every penny! This place puts the soul in soul food! The owner greeted us like we were old friend's. These are the places I love to find by accident while traveling. I can't wait to come back to Austin for a second plate and cornbread👍
Wanted soul food before we left Austin. Found this place and let's just say outstanding. Food was so good. Friendly and great service
All the food is wonderful. Seasoned but not salty. The fried food isn't greasy. You must try it for yourself.
I was hanging out Maggie Mae's in downtown Austin, and the doorman highly suggested this place. So sure enough I had to check it out. This little homey, cozy, soul food spot smelled amazing upon entering. I originally wanted alligator but unfortunately they were out of that, but I don't regret getting the meatloaf one bit! All of the food was very flavorful, and portions are generous for the price. They even took it up to notches when I found out they made Kool aid in house haha. Everything was above what was expected, and I definitely plan on coming back!
Excellent service and excellent food. Must come see this hidden gem.
So while visiting Austin Texas I decided to look for a soul food place omg when I tell you the food was beyond delicious the staff was friendly and professional I highly recommend this place if you're looking for soul food 😋.
Being a vegan, I didn't eat here myself. I did go inside with my wife. Never have I heard this woman smack and chew so loud. Who can lick their fingers loud? My wife! Because of that, I'm going to assume the food here is really, really great.
For me, it was the atmosphere. I grew up in the "country" parts of Georgia. We had places like these. The unity, camaraderie, fellowshipping, and just the joy of being around folks enjoying some good old soul food, brought back so many memories.
Love this place! Got one chicken fried chicken and one fried fish. We visited on a personal recommendation on a trip to Austin. So good!
I can't say enough about the cooking I just ate. This was my first time here and my experience was amazing. Very nice employees and the food is very delicious!!! Love this place. I highly recommend Roland's to everyone!!!
Overall, the food that my family had was really good. I can say that the greens, fried fish, rice and black-eyed peas, cornbread were amazing! The corn tasted like it was poured right out the can. The fried chicken wasn't perfectly seasoned to me but my mom liked it. The food was warm instead of hot. I would definitely go back if we visited Austin again.
Food was outstanding a d served for a great Mother’s Day experience for my lil sister.
I had the fried fish and chicken wings. The fish was delicious, and the cornmeal was crisp. All the food tasted great and was fresh. It was a very welcoming location. If you want good soul food I'd recommend this place. It is also a locally owned business with character.
9/17/19 Update: So I went back to Roland's and wanted to come back to this review just to mention this place is still amazing. Trust me you won't be let down. This was probably my fifth time there and I have yet to be let down.
