Austin original. Great food. Great people. Been going here my whole life. Beef ribs are great! But if you go to Bert's, you gotta get a T-man. Great smoked Turkeys @ the holidays & perfect for catering. Chocolate eclair is an old school treat!
The t man is where it is at. Cut brisket cubes, sliced sausage, brand and bbq sauce all mixed together makes it ask worth the visit

I’ve been eating at one location or another of Bert’s BBQ since before I could drive, and as often as possible since. My personal favorite bbq in town, despite the many other great contenders out there. This is it. You’ve found it. Try the frito pie with a little sausage. Great family run place too, by the best people. Thanks to Jay and Kid & co. for keeping it going, and thanks to Gary & co. for years of great food as well!
Stopped on a whim at Burt’s to grab a half pound of brisket. Staff was really nice but man that was the best brisket I’ve ever had. It had great seasoning and the fat melted in my mouth. Going to make it a regular stop.
Had a pretty good sliced brisket sandwich here. Brisket was good the sauce was a little lighter than I like but I’d recommend this place to someone looking for barbecue.

I have ordered several times moist brisket and pork ribs and they were excellent.
For thanksgiving I ordered brisket and a turkey.
It was outstanding!.
Family was happy and praised the food.
The service has always been cordial, and very kind. It is an excellent quality, value experience.

We stopped here on a whim because we wanted BBQ and was not disappointed! I had both the brisket sandwich then later the turkey sandwich. The brisket was the better of the two. The flavor was goldilocks: not too spicy, not too bland. I gobbled it up. It was carefully assembled and then gave me fresh onions on the side. I loved the coleslaw and the beans. This is like and old fashioned BBQ that one would go out to some picnic grounds to have.
I don't know if it is the best in Austin but it is certainly better than majors who slather on way too much sauce.
Definitely 5 stars.
Nothing fancy here just a little hole in the wall Texas style BBQ joint serving spectacular top-notch BBQ. The decor and friendly service reminded me of simpler times. Brisket was moist and delicious.
Kid was the one who helped me and he was very thoughtful and kind. Food is great although the vibe of the interior is a little weird.
They catered the Texas Realtors Event. Great food and very nice people. They hussled to feed everyone quickly.
This is a great old Austin favorite place of our family. You can’t find better BBQ in Austin. Not even if you stand in a long line. Try the famous frito pie but get them to add a half a link of sausage! Really really good.
Bert's is awesome. Do you want to eat at a BBQ joint where you don't need reservations and can still eat premium BBQ. This place has been around for almost 50 years. This is the small, local, family owned place for me.
They even have an old jukebox in corner. Does it work, I don't know, but I like looking at it while I am eating some good BBQ. Deer mounts on the wall and friendly service. It's like the small town BBQ 4 hours away except it is in town.

Barbecue was great. Only disappointed that we are only learning of this hidden gem. They've been doing barbecue for 50 years and you can taste the experience. Social distancing and masking in place to dine in. We devoured the beef ribs, brisket and chicken. Our eyes were bigger than our stomachs and ended up with leftovers!
