Was very impressed my first time here! I instinctively got the double meat and I was surprised by the amount. I have a feeling the regular is probably equivalent to most shops “double”
Stopped here for lunch leaving Austin and there wasn’t really any customers there and when we went in they had some good music playing and the employees were interacting with the customers, having a good time while making their sandwiches. It was our turn to order and they were asking my girlfriend and I questions about our trip and giving us fun facts about the area and we enjoyed it very much! I hope we just happened to catch it at a slow time because this place is great and had some great workers I’ll definitely be back.
I got the American Classic and all the ingredients were fresh and delicious, as usual. I did find out that they actually have alfalfa sprouts! Right after the gentleman preparing my sandwich had it all rolled up and stuffed in a bag I was lamenting about how you can’t get fresh alfalfa sprouts anymore because I used to always get them added to my sandwich, and he reached over to one of his trays behind the counter and held up a handful! Too late this time but I am surely getting them added to my sandwich next time! Being one of the oldest, if not, the oldest in ThunderCloud Subs, still standing the atmosphere is great, because not much has changed in the past 35+ years that I have been eating here other than a nice refresh to the exterior. The only reason they get - 1 star is because of the bathroom. It’s a hideous one-holer that is a little too primitive for nostalgia. 😄
Love this place great for vegetarians and all that. I don’t know why but this location makes me feel like I’m at stay away camp. In the best way possible lmfao

Healthy, fresh, and fast. What more could you ask for? These subs were great, and they had such good wheat bread (and we all know how difficult it can be to make healthy taste great lol). The staff was very friendly, and we had quick service! Plus, it has a really cute aesthetic for the restaurant.
This place is nothing without the staff!! They're super professional and awesome! Probably the best location out of all of them. You guys rock Lonestar state style!!!

This Sandwich shop has its own style that shows the long history it shares with it's city and state. Their signature Austin club sandwich is quite good and fulfilling to the soul. Wish I could have tasted their patato salad, unfortunately they were out during my visit. A good place to get a affordable meal in Austin.
ThunderCloud Subs is a great place to grab a delicious and hearty sandwich. The bread is fresh and soft, and the ingredients are top quality. The staff is always friendly and willing to help with menu recommendations. Additionally, the prices are reasonable for the generous portions you receive. Overall, I highly recommend ThunderCloud Subs for a satisfying meal.

One of the first places I ate at when I moved to Austin in 1979 was the Thunder Cloud Subs on East Riverside. The food and service was excellent. Today? Nothings changed. Same excellent food. Same excellent service. One of only a few original Austin establishments left. Before we paved paradise and put up a condo tower. Thunderclouds is what made Austin a unique and wonderful city to live in some 40 years ago. Glad they are hanging in there.
I've lived in Austin for just over 40 years and never tried ThunderCloud before. Having started a new job where there's a ThunderCloud right across the street, I gave the menu a glance and decided to venture over for lunch.
Probably the best meatball sub I've had. Probably also the messiest meatball sub I've ever had. The quality and quantity put the national chains to shame along with the customization options.
The staff is friendly and efficient. Definitely adding to the lunch rotation now.
Everything was great. The service/sandwich maker was friendly and helpful. Great prices and tasted great! We got the Italian and Big Paul- both were fantastic
