This place is amazing!! Perfect brisket and the kids loved the turkey. My husband said it was the best beef rib he’s ever had. Gumbo was definitely my favorite! We’ll definitely be regulars! Drinks were awesome. Restaurant is beautiful & great place to have an event in their “back room”! Bar is gorgeous & a place I could definitely stay awhile!
This was the best brisket I have ever had!! I have eaten brisket in Lockhart, Austin, SA, and Luling, but the brisket here was phenomenal!!! We even received a tour of the pits!! Thank you The Switch!!
Had late lunch, early dinner with my guy at the bar. Comfy bar stools that make one not want to leave the bar. The place is open light and bright. I started off with the Bloody Mary and it was so flavorful. It came with the traditional olive, but also a pickle led onion and pickled slice of jalapeño sausage! The sausage slice convinced my husband to get the spicy sausage along with his brisket. The brisket was so tender and had a nice peppery bark. He loved the molasses BBQ sauce that was on the table and how it went great with the meat. I got a gem of a deal with the po boy sandwich. Pork in some type of savory sauce with fried shrimp and all the fixings. I couldn't stop eating it even though I was full, as the flavors worked in a satisfying way. I had the potato salad which was creamy and flecked with dill. It was a nice cool option. Because we want to try more offering the smoked honey margaritas was divine and the banana split was out of this world! Smoked banana, smoked honey ice cream, toasted pecans and hot fudge, yes please!! The bar waitstaff were so nice and accommodating. I want to go back and try some more Cajun offering and brunch menu, while my husband wants more meat!
Absolutely LOVED everything about The Switch!! The food, drinks, atmosphere and friendly staff were on point! We tried various items off the Brunch menu, had some drinks from the bar and dessert....all amazing! I can’t wait to go back and try some of the Cajun dinner options!!
Our family went yesterday and the atmosphere and food was great!!! I had the po-boy and it was delicious!! I got a different taste with every bite! I'm a lover of brisket so the fact that there were bites of brisket, shrimp, with a little kick every now and then was SO good!! We'll definitely be going back!!

Took the family to The Switch & it did NOT disappoint! Not only is the decor & ambiance great, the servers are very friendly & the food is AMAZING! My favorite was the gumbo! Of course my daughters favorite was the old fashioned big red float with pop rocks on top! Great food & fun for the entire family!
We went to the new location in Dripping Springs and Absolutely loved it! We tried a little bit of everything and it was all amazing! The brisket was wonderful, the sausage was great and the ribs were tremendous! All the sides complimented everything perfectly! The full bar is a nice feature and my cocktail was very yummy! We will absolutely be back and we will be bringing friends!
Great staff, great food, friendly environment. Definitely recommend, and will be going back!
The brisket and beef ribs were on point as usual. The only thing I wished they had was more green options for sides. Was a little disappointed they didn't have the same side items as the other location.
I have been waiting for so long for The Switch to open and, as I expected, they did not disappoint!! Recommendations Food: The Switch Gumbo, Beef Ribs, Jalapeño Cheddar Sausage, Campfire Banana Split (just to name a few) / Recommendations Drinks: Barbecue Wife Bloody Mary and Barbecue Wife Margarita, The Tootsie, Pineapple Smash, ATX Ranch Water!! #killingit
This place is awesome! I had a crayfish and sausage poboy. Thanks Shane!
We ate on for the first time and it i now our new favorite. We had a party of nine and all order something different. It was all good. The staff serving took time to help with photos. Never saw an empty glass, in fact my son in law commented the server was a ninja because he never saw here refill his glass. Going back this week end.
This was the first place we visited on our Texas trip. The bbq was great! Our waitress was amazing, answered some questions we had about the area to the best of her ability (she wasn't local). Everyone enjoyed their meal and beverages.
November 2023:
I ordered the Smoked Bone-In Ham for Thanksgiving Day and since we was there to pick it up decided to order and enjoy a nice lunch. I had planned ordering turkey (for thanksgiving) but their Tuesday special was Fried Chicken with Mashed Potatoes. I could not resist and ordered it. The staff was super nice and friendly.
The plate consisted of two pieces of chicken, mashed potatoes, biscuit, side of raspberry sauce, and side of gravy. The chicken was soft on the inside with a superbly tasting crust on the outside. It had great flavor. The biscuit was just as good with a honey glaze on it and the potatoes were perfect.
Next time will get the turkey.
December 2022:
1 Meat with 2 Sides Plate
I returned to the Switch and ordered a 1 Meat with 2 sides plate. My selections were Turkey, Mac & Cheese, and Potato Salad. The place still maintained the Texas style BBQ atmosphere and great service. The turkey was so tasty and nice big slices. I have had this before and really enjoyed it. This place is a great hangout and have a beer too.

Oak Smoked Fried Chicken Wings
There are a lot of excellent BBQ places in and around Austin and this one is one of them. The Switch is close to my home so my wife and I regularly dine in or take out here. Depending on which day you arrive will affect on how you order where sometimes you are quickly seated at the table or walk up and order you meal. Sometimes we sit at the bar or in a booth.
I ordered the 1/2 dozen Oak Smoked Fried Chicken Wings and side of Potato Salad. They are one of the best chicken wings out there. They had a wonderful bbq flavored taste to them and enjoy eating them. The BBQ here has its own distinct flavor from other places. The bar has a nice selection of local craft brew and other choice of drinks. The atmosphere was great and the staff is very friendly. And as you leave you can walk by the smokers to see the engine of this place.
Smoked Turkey BLT
Another trip to my most visited BBQ place this year where I ordered the Smoked Turkey BLT. I tried a new item off the menu to change things up. I sat in a booth this time where first had to order my food. My order was delivered to my table.
The BLT looked pretty big from my vantage point where it was cut in half and stacked on one another with a side of fries. The Turkey was big slices along with tasty crispy bacon, lettuce, tomato, avocado mash, and mayo kept together with buttery Texas toast It was just a very good sandwich and filled me up for the day and beyond. Not sure if the turkey made me sleepy later in the day but next time skip breakfast before tackling this again.
So good. Highly recommend. We had the sampler (def get) along with a half pound brisket and half pound pork ribs (aka 2). All of it was very, very good. Server appeared young, but was quick to provide samples of the only two beers on draft I was interested in. Major props for being proactive. Nice looking full bar, nothing run down about this place at all. I'll be back.
First time experience was great. We didn't bring our dog because we weren't sure of their pet policy. They said they allow pets on the patio and even gave us some BBQ for our pup to take home. The Cubano sandwich and brisket enchiladas were yummy. We will definitely be back for the brisket next time.
I have gone back several times. Everything I've had has been delicious. Get the onion rings!
Had the brisket, Turkey, sausage and wings with corn casserole Brussels sprouts fries and Mac and cheese. All the sides were very good and the Turkey and sausage were also great. The brisket was pretty good, although a bit dry. Overall a good experience and looking forward to going back.
Phenomenal BBQ. At this point I’ve tried all the meats and most sides. These guys are creative and consistent. Every single thing I’ve tried has been top notch and my favorite thing to do is try different bbq joints. My wife loves it too and that’s saying something! We just finished up the Sunday brunch after church and it’s so unique and delicious. Really appreciate all the hard work that goes into this quality and fresh food in Dripping Springs.
If you examine the menu, this central Texas 'cue joint offers a number of Tex-Mex fusion dishes-- and that's what brought me here-- my 88th 'cue stop in the Lone Star state, and the 373rd on a BBQ journey now embracing 35 states. I could not resist the idea of dining on brisket enchiladas-- and what a good choice it turned out to be! A good sized plate with three enchiladas, beans and Spanish rice, with a refillable soft drink (Pepsi products),came to $22.13. A sampling of burnt ends completed the meal. Good smoke and a classic central Texas rub combined to give the enchiladas superb flavor. I strongly recommend the dish. The Spanish rice was just that, but the beans were also a welcome step up from the traditional refried concoction. As for the burnt ends ... meat candy! Moist, tender, blessed with great bark and a flavor profile tilted a bit to the peppery side-- this is BBQ heaven. I can't wait to get back and sample more of the Tex-Mex side of the menu.
The space is beautiful and very well done - would be great for a party / event.
The food was all spot on - we had the following
Cobb Salad - $14 overpriced for a salad but it was delicious. Large portion
Gumbo - $10 only item we wouldn’t re-order, not bad, just nothing spectacular
Frito Pie - $12.50 delicious, large portion
Boudin - $6.50 good and a full link
1/2# Brisket - $11 really good
1/2# Pork Ribs - $9 delicious
Beans, Potato Salad both good
Peach Cobbler - delicious
The initial seating is odd, you check in with the hostesses, get menus and an assigned table, then order at the counter, proceed to your assigned table and then it’s full service. It’s not bad, just odd.
We will absolutely be back - food is spot on - staff is very helpful and seem to really love where they work which speaks volumes.
Wonderful addition to Dripping and South Austin.
Everything was how I expected from the finger licking photos. The host from Louisiana had the finest customer friendly attitude I have seen in a while. The staff was eager to please. The food was hot and was edible with your eyes. I would really like to think Mr. ALEC for allowing me to witnesses MASTERY while slicing that brisket, and cutting those ribs to perfection. I can really tell this place maintains exceptional standards when it comes to food and atmosphere. I’d also like to think the owner and staff of JetSki city of Austin, Texas for recommending this fine dining establishment. Who knows maybe jet ski city of Austin, and The Switch BBQ can offer promotions for each other’s businesses great water activities along with fine dining and BBQ in Texas.
The Switch is a Bel Terra staple. While you can drive 25 minutes into Austin for dynamite BBQ, that's not what this place is about. They server consistently good BBQ (not great, but good), and have a great little bar scene. I'm a bit sad as Janea's not there as frequently now, as she is a critical component to how awesome the service and atmosphere are here. It's definitely priced like it's "great" BBQ, as are most things in the area. But really it's the drinks, atmosphere, Janea, and that Dirty Birdie with brisket. I wish the menu had more to choose from, and I wish they would add more wing sauce selections. But the real tragedy here is that they don't have the mashed cheesy tater tot things that other Switches have. What gives!? I would practically kill to have those on the menu here. All in all, the Switch will serve you well if you're regulated to the area.
I got the most fun bloody mary ever! The switch serve it on a cowboy boot glass. I usually don't drink bloody Marie's anywhere but today I took my chance and I don't have any complaint about it. This drink came on a cowboy glass boot and well garnished, it comes with 2 big green olives and 2 slices of sausages. The flavor of this drink is a little big smoky wich give uniqueness and originality. Food was great I hot the Benedict brunch and I had 2 choices which is great because I got to try brisket and sausages 😋. We also got the ash one if our server favorite and let me tell you he was right it was delicious. Food is beautiful presented on the plate and prices are great. I definitely recommend the Switch in Dripping Springs, TX.
Hush puppies!! A happy surprise was receiving complimentary hush puppies upon sitting down at our table for dinner. They are mighty tasty! They’ll even bring you more if you ask. We are fans of the original Stiles Switch on Lamar and we’re pleasantly surprised to dine at this hill country location. They do the normal counter style service during lunch but for dinner you place your order and then sit at an assigned table. We tried their beef rib and grits dish and smoked chicken piquant with their corn casserole. They have table service for drinks and you can order more items with them. The location is very spacious and has a well designed interior.
Tried the wings with white sauce and brisket enchiladas. Delicious. The wings are smoked with a pepper rub and fried. We had half plain and half with the white sauce. Brisket enchiladas are highly recommended. Service was wonderful. A couple of TV's with sports and a full bar. I'd definitely go back.
Went for brunch wanting to try something a bit different and food and service (Barry) are excellent. I had the migas and tried the brisket hash. Really well done. We were full but still ordered peach cobbler and banana pudding which were delicious. Save room and wear your fat pants.
I got the Truck Stop Brisket Enchiladas from the special dishes and it was a great. Service was fast and plenty of happy hour drinks to choose from. Place has a nice decor inside.
I wish BBQ wasn’t so expensive, but I understand why it is. Switch cooks some great BBQ. The Diablo Sandwhich is excellent with a “Docta Peppa” if you’re in a hurry. 😂
