Kanji Ramen has delicious food! The service is always so friendly and quick! It’s my go-to ramen spot in Austin
Quiet, simple little restaurant. You order at the desk and then seat yourself. The menu only has two veggie options (veg ramen and spicy veg ramen).
We got the Spicy Miso Ramen and the Spicy Veg ramen - although neither were spicy, they both had tasty, simple, light broths.
The real surprise star was the crispy tofu - well made, crispy outside, soft inside and tasty.
The food came out within 5 minutes of the order.
Portion sizes are typical for ramen, one meal for a ravenous person, or a meal and a takeaway box :)
Resturaunt was nice and clean. Very simple to place your order. You grab your own menu, seat yourself, and go to the counter to place your order when you are ready. We ordered the "Signature Ramen" and it came in a pretty nice sized bowl, and the flavor was amazing!
The man who was working was very kind, and checked on us.
If we lived here in Austin, we would definitely come here all the time. We will definitely be back when we visit!
Ps we walked in to 2 other "Ramen" restaurants and walked right out before we found Kenji. Sooo glad we found this gem!

Went around 7-8pm and it wasn’t too busy! The service was amazing! The cashier was also the one who brought us our food and checked on us to make sure everything was okay and good. Food was DELICIOUS and fresh! Seaweed salad was so yummy. Will definitely come back. So glad we found this place!😭💗 I got the spicy kpop ramen. Finished it completely ❤️
We decided to try a different type of noodles for lunch and picked Kanji Ramen. The place requires customers to order and pay at the counter and then look for a table to sit (Just FYI). We ordered Chashu (Marinated braised pork belly) and Pork Gyoza (Pan-seared dumplings) as appetizers, and for the main dish, Kanji Ramen, which is their signature ramen in a creamy pork bone soup with soy sauce based seasoning. Every dish ordered had a very unique and rich flavor. Definitely a different experience in comparison to Chinese, Korean and Vietnamese noodles, but good in its own way.
We got the signature ramen, maki, and spicy Korean bowl. The broth, chashu, and portion sizes were pretty good. I wasn’t expecting that Shinn instant ramen would be used for the Korean bowl. It tasted good but it was a surprise to see that served at a restaurant especially for the price. Overall good flavors and nice service.
Love this place, the menu is simple yet rich with flavor. It's the best ramen I've had in Austin so far. Definitely a must try at least once.
Wonderful and quaint restaurant.
Great selection and prices and layout. Awesome food and service also.
Definitely will be going back.
Check hours before going and try not to get there past 8pm as the kitchen shuts down soon after.
Spicy miso ramen was good. Not used to a chunky (ground) chashu but it added some fat to the flavor. The fried garlic, nori, and wood ear mushrooms were a good compliment. Super friendly staff. Simple, straight forward place.
This restaurant is a hidden gem. It wasn’t very busy when we came in, but the food was great. The broth isn’t overpoweringly salty but is still super flavorful. All of the different toppings on the signature ramen went well together.
My first time going to Kanji was last week and I am hooked. The Spicy Mi-so Ramen is too magnificent for words, broth was so full of amazing flavors. The shrimp tempura, so fresh and crispy. This is my new favorite place to eat out!

Wonderful atmosphere and very friendly staff. Possibly the best ramen in Austin!!
This is hands down my favorite ramen place in Austin. The gentleman that runs the place makes delicious ramen with a nice depth to the broth. There are many options and his eggs are always perfectly jammy. It’s a local business that I hope stays in business for years!
The most amazing ramen I've ever had. The menu is small but the ramen is fresh and everything tastes abundant with flavor. I have been here 3 times and will keep coming back. I love good Asian cuisine. Quick takeout available. The pictures are of fried tofu, edamame, fried salad, and the #4.
Kanji Ramen, I hadn’t been before but it’s close by the house so had to give it a try. The ramen was pretty good and I loved the bun. The owner is really friendly and the food came out quickly. Ramen to go sounds like a weird thing and I was glad that Kanji has dine in.
Best noodles in town. My husband also liked the steaks a lot. Small cozy place. The owner is super friendly. Would come back again.
Very nice ambience that served very good Ramen. I love all their ramen because the broth is rich and creamy. Noodle texture is cooked well. The boss is humble, friendly and polite.
