If you love a great dive bar, then you should consider Grackle as your east side Austin destination. A few of many reasons: -- An enormous whiskey selection -- Buffalo Trace and Tullamore Dew on the rail -- interesting variety of beers on tap -- best Bloody Mary in Austin -- a commitment to inclusiveness (see the sign out front that prohibits sexism, racism, homophobia, transphobia, xenophobia, or any general hatefulness when at the bar) -- patrons who are welcoming and interesting and diverse -- amazing curated jukebox (you won't hear most of this stuff at any other bar) -- darts, pool table, covered and uncovered patio seating -- the best weekend doorman since Roadhouse, except more philosophical and less prone to violence I have made several amazing friends at this place. It's one of those places that simply feels right. It's not for everyone, I guess -- but visit and see if you feel the same!

This is one of my favorite places in austin. I hesitate to speak to highly of it so I don't let the secret out. The staff here is by far one of the best I've encountered ever. The drink program is impeccable.

They have about 80 different bottles of whisky to try and a well rounded beer selection. Go there when you're in Austin!

Went to zilk brewing to grab a beer and it was closed for the time being so we saw this bar across the street with a big sign that said "beer" so we went over they were open and were instantly greeted by the bartender and the friendly locals. We are from Seattle and didn't know much about the local brews but were looking for them (it's why we're here in Texas to begin with but everything happened to be closed on Mondays and Tuesday's) he let me taste a couple and decided on a good sour. I loved the energy, the friendliness and the service was outstanding good job grackle! If I come back to your beautiful state I definitely hit this bar again!

Cool, dive spot to get a good cocktail. If whiskey is your jam, then this is a good spot to check out. Mint Julep's, Manhattan's, and Old Fashioned's on tap. Great service, along with a fantastic selection of hard to find whiskey options. Various Weller options as well as Blanton's, to name a few.

Originally went there for fries. There is no kitchen tho and the good truck seemed vastly over priced. What they lacked in food they made up for in an abundance in apirit knowledge and cocktail expertise.

Awesome dive bar with a crazy good whiskey selection. The place itself is really cool and relaxed. The interior has got a few tables, darts, and a pool table. There's outdoor seating with fans and all, and there's even a food truck out front. The bar tenders are awesome and make a killer whiskey sour. They also have a short (about 8) but surprisingly good selection of beer on tap. There's a very small parking lot, so you'll likely have to park out on the street, but it's more than most bars on east 6th offer. Definitely worth coming for the whiskey alone, but it's a good spot for a late night hang.

This is an awesome eclectic bar with a great draught beer selection and an all inclusive tolerance policy (no haters welcome!). They also have Arlo's food truck parked outside which is a delicious vegan food truck! All the yums.

Great dive bar. Awesome service, great whiskey choices, better prices than most places, and they have old fashioneds, mint juleps, and Manhattans on tap from Woodford, Wild Turkey, and Makers. They also have multiple bottles of various Weller on hand, which is rare.

This is one of my favorite bars in Austin. Relatively affordable, has pool tables and PAC Man. I’m disappointed that they “recently” redid the ceiling - it took away some of the character of the place!

It’s a decent standard dive bar on east side that’s not too crowded. The whiskey selection is pretty darn good. The beer selection ain’t bad either, but the Saturday I was there they were out of almost everything. The bartenders are cool though. Very chill place with an awesome food truck on site. They actually have some parking too, even if it is just a handful of spaces.

Not big on the people that were there. Being in my late 30s and from the country, I felt out of place and not comfortable. But the service was good, and the bar tender was nice and got what we wanted. I enjoyed my night with my woman and that's all that matters.

Nice place. Chill atmosphere. They have darts and cult classics playing in their TVs. Bartender is knowledgeable about whiskeys. I had a super smooth local whiskey, Balcones Single Malt. Luckily I found out it’s carried at my Seattle Total Wine! Definitely getting a bottle when I get home.
