I am giving this a dive bar 4. We are outer towners and between all the over the top Covid restrictions, the college aged crowd and franchisey touristy places with overpriced drinks, we were just ready to chill and enjoy some local people. This spot had loads of games and a GREAT beer selection. There is an outdoor hangout in the back as well. The owner Jimmy was a quirky guy who never stopped cleaning or fiddling with the games and said very little but I could tell the locals are a fan of his. He never left us sitting dry when we needed a beer so that was a plus. We wanted to go back but there was just not enough time in our short trip but when we return to Austin, we plan on doing so. I would recommend this spot if you just want a break from the Dirty Six or Hoyty Toyty spots. We enjoyed the pool tables and good conversation with the local peeps we met here.

Welcome to a true old-Austin dive bar. Make sure to behave or the owner will ask you to leave. This is a neighborhood bar and not the place to get drunk.

If you want to find out what old school Austin is about this is this place. Really cool. Has a few retro games like air hockey & pin ball. Great vibe. Jimmy the owner is a little rough on the edges, but he's an old softie. Back porch for smoking & hanging . No frills vintage Austin.

I was really surprised how much I liked this place. From the outside, it looks pretty darn rough. I think that's why the folks inside are so cool - the night I was there for an open mic, it seemed most everyone knew each other. The stage and performance area is kind-of stunning with the amount of sound and light reinforcement gear they've crammed into the room. Basically, its a great place to drink and things sounded pretty good on stage the night I was there, too. This is what a bar really should be, in my mind. Think "classic Texas bar" and this place matches what you're expecting. Fun!

The g&s is your classic dive. Don't expect fancy service and keep your drinks simple and you'll have a blast. A fun surprise after my first visit the bartender, Benny (sp?), cut out beer bottles into glasses for us and gave them to us to take home free of charge. Thank you, sir! There are a plethora of retro games to play and a huge beer selection. Easy to pass up and it probably wants to stay that way....

The bartender is a little bristly, but if you can get past that, there's a bunch of pinball machines and other arcade games. Did I mention they have air hockey and pool tables?? Nice bottle selection and a handful of tap beers. Interesting dive bar.
