UPDATED: I've been here a few more times since my previous review and I have to say that perhaps I was mistaken. I may have just caught them on a bad night because the food and service have been exceptional in my recent visits. They have a great breakfast menu and some good burgers, including this wonderfully messy concoction known as the "Booyah Burger," topped with bacon, an egg, and something called "warm sauce." If you have facial hair, such as I do, ask for extra napkins if you order this burger. You'll thank me.
PREVIOUS: I don't get it. I just don't get it. I don't get what is so great about this place that everyone rants and raves about it. When my wife and I first arrived, we waited for a place to sit. It was busy, so that was understandable, but when we finally sat down, our waitress didn't give us any menus. So we waited... and waited... and waited. After almost ten minutes, when we were about to walk out, another waitress noticed we didn't have menus and brought us some. I ordered the fried chicken, which others had recommended to me. After tasting it, I once again have to say I don't get it. It was only slightly juicy and the batter was bland; no salt or pepper could be tasted. It was served with a side of uninteresting fries and a slice of Kool-Aid dyed fruit that I was unable to identify. It seemed like the clientele were mainly senior citizens, so maybe they're nostalgic about it, though I'm not sure how long it's been open. There are better places in Austin and while I'm willing to give it another shot, it won't be anytime soon.
Clean, tasty food, friendly service. I did what I always do in an unfamiliar restaurant, I asked the waitress what she likes best on the menu. I had a bowl of chicken dumpling soup and a roast beef and sauerkraut sandwich with potato chips. It was all excellent, and very reasonably priced. I will come back, which is my highest praise.
Love the Northlander omelet!. Mmmmmmmmmm delicious!
Excellent food and service
My favorite breakfast restaurant in Austin, MN. I had the biscuits and gravy, the biscuits were fluffy and fresh with a ton of gravy on top. I added two eggs over easy with sausage links which looked to come from a local meat locker. The next day I had the chorizo omelette which actually had a spicy flavor, I did add Tabasco and salsa but I could taste the chorizo so kudos. The staff were friendly and made sure everything was good. The food was a good price for a good home style cooked meal.
Really great classic Diner American food. Great inner atmosphere. Great energetic workers.
We went to spend the day in Austin and of course made a trip to the Spam museum. After, we went to Kenny's based upon the great reviews. We all enjoyed our meals (burger and fries, steak, broasted chicken). Then I got the biggest and tastiest hunk of coconut cream pie ever. We'll be back for sure!
Very cute atmosphere! Old fashion diner with good ol' comfort food. The staff is friendly and attentive! We love the french toast and loaded hash browns!
Had the everything hash browns with sausage gravy and fritter french toast for lunch and it was awesome 👍. Our server was Elizabeth, who was too sweet for words and very plight and helpful. A great experience all around.
Great place to eat! We had the clickers - beer battered chicken strips. Delicious and plenty of food.
The food is great and you can tell by how busy it is! Kenny's is always hopping no matter what time of day it is. That doesnt mean you wont get excellent service though. Burgers, cheese curds and some of the best home hooked meals like what mom used to put out. This place has it all.
