I gasped when I tasted the scallop and the smoked salmon. I don't like usually like salmon, and the one I had here was so delicious I took some home to enjoy later! The scallop was incredible; the best scallop and mashed potatoes I have ever tasted. The atmosphere was very calm which is just what I wanted. And I'm not a big fan of alcohol, so they made me a sprite with peach syrup mocktail! The first taste I had was a soup with butternut and I could not have asked for anything better. It was an experience I will never forget. I have to come back to try everything!
My girlfriends took me gear for my birthday. The restaurant has a great atmosphere, the service is top tier and the Chef Cindy Wolf offers delicious menu. The service was stellar and everyone on the team worked together to make sure each guest had a great dining experience. Our head waiter was fabulous and knew the menu very well. The portions are just right and the menu is not extensive but still offered a variety flavors. My favorite dish is the VERMONT GOAT CHEESE AGNOLOTTI! The flavors were perfect! I also loved the purple haze cheese that was served between dinner and dessert. I would absolutely suggest experiencing Charleston.
Absolutely an amazing dining experience. Jessica was very attentive and knew everything about the menu. We had a wonderful meal and enjoyed speaking with Chef Wolf in the dining room after we ate. Highly recommend trying this gem of a restaurant in Baltimore.
WOW!!! What an experience. The Foie Gras and Sweet Breads were unexplainably delicious. I also had the fettuccini and lobster curry soup which were also excellent. The entire experience was well worth the $850 price tag for the 4 of us. Cindy also came over and talked to us and suggested a few things. To end WOW!!!

Every city has its own unique fine dining experiences. The Charleston is the one you want to try when you are in Baltimore. It is a beautiful restaurant that elevates its diners upwards to another level. Their menu is prix fixe. You can choose between a three course meal and up. The rich lobster soup was divine and similar to many well prepared lobster bisques, but with the added touch of curry. A very smart and delicious idea. My wife's carrot & tomato soup was also a wonderful concoction. My pan roasted scallops was a good dish, but not my favorite. Bacon wrapped sea scallops are hard to execute in a way that seems elegant. My wife's arugula salad was very well seasoned and the dressing was especially simple, yet good. Next was my bison tenderloin which was prepared extremely well. It had iust the right amount of heat to balance the delicious flavor. My wife's shrimp and avocado was a bit simplistic and bland. I did not enjoy my chocolate cake. It ate a bit dry. The wine pairings with each dish were okay, but not earth shattering or exciting in any way. Don't get me wrong, the wines were great. The pairings were okay at best. The star of this restaurant was actually the olive bread. Between me eating at this restaurant and writing this review I have eaten at several amazing restaurants. A three star Michelin restaurant, a top chef restaurant, and so on. I cannot stop thinking about this bread. Kudos to whomever decided to have it as part of the bread selection and kudos to whomever baked it. Finally, the staff was superb. The chef and owner(s) should feel proud to have a front of house team like they have at the Charleston.
A lovely restaurant with relaxing vibe and excellent food.
Hubby made a last minute reservation for Saturday during our getaway at Baltimore Harbor and we had a great time even only sitting at the lounge.
The attentive service is top notch, our sever is very informative and gives great suggestions.
I was pleasantly surprised that they have quite a long list of choices on the menu to choose from for their 3, 4, 5 or 6 courses dinner.
We opted for the Four-courses and hubby chose that night’s special-Squab($25 extra) and it was out of the world! I enjoyed the Pan seared Hudson Valley Foie Gras very much. Wild Burgundy Snails with Creamy Polenta was tasty and appetizing. The White Truffle Fettuccini was really delicious. For dessert we tried Vanilla Creme Brulee & Dark Chocolate Cake, both were good and the chocolate cake wasn’t heavy which we like it very much.
An indulging experience and I highly recommended. They also have an extensive wine list and suggestion pairing on each dish.
My wife and I enjoyed a lovely dinner at Charleston for our anniversary and cannot wait to go again. Top to bottom, this is an outrageously good restaurant. Just make the reservation -- you won't regret it. The beautifully decorated dining room, comfortable seating, gorgeous tableware, and warm service would be reason enough to go, but the food really is about as good as it gets at this price point. Thoughtfully crafted courses flowed nicely from one to the next and there was clear technical mastery in their preparation. Although we don't drink, there were recommended wine pairings available for each course from an expansive wine menu that would please even the most discerning wine connoisseur.
We appreciated the kind considerations made by both our (excellent) server and management for our anniversary. Being younger and perhaps not fitting the superficial characteristics of the typical patron of higher-end cuisine, we never felt anything less than welcomed. Just a great experience all around.
We have been lucky enough to dine at numerous Michelin-starred restaurants around the world, and Charleston is every bit as good, if not better, than many of those. It is seriously worth the trip, even if you're coming from DC or Philly (although Baltimore is wonderful in general and you should totally visit).
I give this restaurant 5Stars! It absolutely should be a Michelin star. Hands down amazing. From the decor, the service, the delicious food. Our waitress Jessica was absolutely wonderful. Must recommend.
Amazing service and food. We visited Charleston for dinner earlier this week and were just as satisfied with our meal and service as we were during our first visit last year. We had a reservation for 5:30 and arrived on the dot. We were greeted, had our coats hung, and were directed to the bar as the dining room wasn't quite ready for dinner service yet. We were only at the bar long enough to order a glass of wine before our table was ready. The service here is impeccable. Wine selection is great, both bottles and by the glass. The food is AMAZING. 4 courses is enough to leave you stuffed. Dessert is complimentary and not counted as one of your paid courses which was a pleasant surprise. They have such a vast selection of dishes that there is definitely something for everyone. We plan to visit Charleston every time we are in town - it is that good!
Best experience ever.
The food it was delicious, I will said almost perfect. (Octopus it was over cooked but well seasoned).
Nice place, and amazing service!
It's so worth it. Do your special occasions here. The staff is amazing yet approachable and unpretentious and kind. Watching the chef and her team is a masterclass in action. This experience truly made my birthday special and that's thanks to every staffer at this restaurant from the hostess - to the sommelier - to the waitress - to the lovely man who agreed to take our photo of this special night. The food was mind-blowing. You could close your eyes and pick random courses and you'll be thrilled regardless of what you choose.
Off the charts!!!!! I can't complain about anything. I've never had a dinner like this. Soup to nuts? No. Mini aromatic hot breads to cheese and port and dessert and coffee. I mean, there's something about the name of this place that doesn't quite capture the seriousness of its exceptional offerings. I'm glad, though. If the world knew, I'd never get in without sitting on a two year waiting list.
I've been following Charleston's & chef Wolf's instagrams since I moved to Baltimore in August and I always knew I had to try this place soon. I just love that they use local and seasonal produce with ingredients of quality & they love what they do. I consider myself a food lover and this is the dream place for food lovers. We had the most exquisite experience in our anniversary dinner tonight. Staff Was outstanding since We arrived. We started waiting for a couple of minutes by the bar and the bartender was super attentive and made great cocktails. We moved to our table and We got the 4 courses each of Us and it was incredible food. Very generous & very beautiful plating. Desserts are so good. They sent Us some sparkling wine to end our night as a courtesy for our anniversary. Thank You for the amazing experience. We definitely recommend this restaura
This restaurant is amazing! The level of care and attention to detail that the staff gives to its guests is very rare to come across. We celebrated our wedding anniversary at the restaurant tonight and I was so grateful as to how much information our waitress could provide us on wine selection, food options and the history of the restaurant. I am still blown away by the service. You are treated as if you are dining with the Queen :). We will continue to come back and recommend this establishment to others! Thank you for a lovely evening!
The restaurants ambiance is absolutely beautiful. My meetup group came here for dinner and everyone enjoyed their meal. Everything we ordered was well seasoned, fresh and tasted delicious. They had the best steak tartare I have ever had.
I did feel that our order taker was a little impatient. I felt rushed when trying to decide what I wanted to order. However, the other waiters gave such excellent service we let that slide.
I’ve been to many restaurants across the country that would be considered as upper echelon for foodies and I must say, other than Picasso in Las Vegas, this is the next best on my list and certainly the best in Maryland. I cannot wait to go back!
Visited The Charleston for the first time in December and I’m still thinking about what an incredible experience we had. While it was a bit awkward when we entered (no one was there to greet us and we had to inquire about checking in our coats), everything after those few moments more than add up for it. The food was INCREDIBLE. Not only was it visually beautiful, the flavors were outstanding. Every dish was better than the last. Would highly recommend the accompanying wine pairing - 3 courses were more than enough for me. I will most definitively be back.
My husband brought me here for our anniversary this past weekend and omg, hands down the best 4 course meal I’ve ever had. We selected the 3-course meal which also came with a complimentary desert course. The menu had a wide variety of dishes which I really appreciate because I’m a not a big meat eater whereas my husband is. We picked 6 completely different dishes so we could try each other’s food and it was all so delicious! The presentation was beautiful. We also did the wine pairing ($60/person extra for the 3 course) and it went so well with the food! It was the most expensive dining experience we’ve ever done (like over $400 for both!!) but we figured we will never get to celebrate our first year of marriage again (unless we remarried hahaha). But seriously, the food was out of this world! I still think about some of the dishes… The restaurant was also quite nice and has an upscale feel but also homey if that makes sense. The staffs were also very nice and professional. Highly recommend!
