The korean short rib was one of the best entrees I've had in recent memory. It was extremely flavorful and tender. The olive oil cake for dessert was also lovely - a bit too lemony on its own, but perfect when combined with the apples and whipped cream.
Yummy. Met the owner, and our waitress was pretty good. Food was Delicious! Eat and buy local!
I reached out to Linda, the owner, about a reservation during happy hour for 10 people. I wanted to host a get-together for some colleagues coming to town, but we weren't a big enough group to warrant renting a room or a restaurant buy-out. Naturally, I never heard back from many of the restaurants I reached out to. However, Linda emailed me back almost immediately (despite having an out of office up, so she must've been on vacation or away!) and set us up for 10 people during happy hour. We communicated a few times before the date and she accommodated a request to sit outside.
We all had SO MUCH FUN! The food was excellent (we ordered all of the starters on the menu so I can speak to this lol), the service was fabulous, and the bill was so reasonable. Also, my non-Baltimore colleagues appreciated the short walking distance from the convention center and the true "Baltimore" vibe, as opposed to the other events that were held in spaces with less character.
If you have a medium sized group or need somewhere fun to plan a get together, SoBo cafe is the way to go. I cannot wait to come back! Thank you so much to Linda, Myra, and the others on the team for taking such great care of us.
I have lived so close to this place for so long and kicking myself for not dropping by for dinner sooner. We had an amazing meal here. Started with the house salad which was so good there are no photos. We inhaled it. I don’t know what they do to those apples in it but I could have eaten a bowl of them. For entrees we got the smoked pork chop and the Korean short ribs. Both were delicious and worthy of ordering again, but the short ribs stole the show. It was the gravy. It’s one of the best bites of food I’ve had in months. We can’t wait to go back and try something new!
My boyfriend and I had a really nice date night the other night. I would recommend making a reservation if you want to make sure to have a table. Service was great, the food was so delicious and the timing that they brought everything out was perfect. It seemed like a lot of the patrons were regulars which was really nice. The thing that prompted this review is we got our entrees to go, and they wrapped the pastry of my pot pie separately so it wouldn’t get soggy. It was just a really nice extra touch that I really appreciated.
My husband and I had a great experience. The food was delicious! The brie BLT was really good and they have a great happy hour menu. The service (Spencer) was very nice and the server was very on top of everything!
Everything was great about my recent experience here except the quantity of food. The cost was $25 for vegetarian ravioli. That's $5 per ravioli. They should easily be able to give a bit more.
Ok! My gf and I have been coming to sobo for months! It’s absolutely amazing! We’ve only come on weekdays to be fair but there’s never a wait and we always get seated. It’s wayyyyyyyy better than the price! I highly recommend the curried mussels as an appetizer and the steak or chicken pot pie as mains. That said the burgers are to die for!!! Perfectly cooked and the best meat! I want to eat it all raw and drink all the broth. It’s an insane deal for the money! The only thing I haven’t absolutely loved is the corn flatbread and it was just good, not great (my gf thought it was fantastic, so taste?). Go there! Pay for parking and enjoy! Order the specials! It’s the best kept secret in federal hill!!!!!
Man, this place is good. I really didn't know what to expect.. I've walked by it numerous times and just assumed it was an average, not noteworthy Cafe. I was wrong! This is a Greek owned place that seems to have some of the best food in the neighborhood! I had the Gyro this time, but plan on coming back soon to try the Chicken Marsala, as well as the sliced steak. I don't expect I'll be disappointed. This place also has outdoor seating for more ideal weather times. Definitely give this place a try!
The perfect lunch experience. Much slower on weekday lunch periods. But good food drink and decor!
Second Edit: I have been here several times. Each time great! Sobo market imo is better catered to a younger crowd but sobo cafe is fantastic!
The food was excellent. Well balanced, the smoked salmon omelette was pretty outstanding. I dug the decor and ambiance. I also got a bubbly ginger fizz and it was delicious. If you’re a fan of ginger and pear, it’s a drink for you.
Kitchy atmosphere, nice friendly staff, ok prices, weird art on the walls for sale at $300 and up. Rather small inside so you may hit a wait if they are busy. Good food however so worth the price tag.
Just attended my husband's holiday party here. The staff were very friendly, the drinks were delicious and strong, and the food was great
All I can say is WOW! Came here with a group of 12, we were welcomed like we were family. Then enjoyed an absolutely fantastic brunch. Service was excellent and the food even better. SoBo is now on our "best places to dine" list 💕
The appetizers are excellent. Try the spinach pie!
I ordered the special of the night which was a Greek dish with shrimp and orzo. It was okay. Pretty plain. I'd go back and try something on the menu that is there all the time.
I enjoyed the crab cake. I spent the entire experience trying to decipher the recipe. I think the waitress could have been a bit more attentive but for a Saturday night I suppose I could understand. I definitely can't wait to try some other items on the menu. I will be back.
