We thoroughly enjoyed our date night here.
·
The atmosphere was lively and fun—but we could still hold a conversation.
·
The exposed ceiling and brick walls—as well as the pub memorabilia everywhere give the place a "locals" vibe.
·
Our hostbartenderserver Candace was super friendly and helpful.
·
The meatloaf was delicious—homemade, thick, dense and enough for two!
·
The chili—with beans thank you—is nicely spiced. Medium heat. "Family level" I'd say.
It came in a good sized bowl with packets of saltine crackers on the side.
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Tortilla chips or cornbread were not offered.
Still, I would order the chili again.
Good location too— close to a few hotel chains and next door to ours.
★★★★½ of food fun!
This is such a great little spot just off the beaten path. Candice was such a welcoming and attentive server which made the experience here all the better. I like the setup, enjoyed the food, and would definitely come back to watch the game and snack on. The prices aren't terrible for the location. It's tucked away on a cute cobblestone street. Check it out!
On 10/27/23 at around 9PM after working late out of my Baltimore Law Office I decided to stop in randomly for dinner and a drink..
I am absolutely glad I did, the food was fast and service top notch..
My bartender "Devon" clearly knows about "Big boy rules" and never let my Stella run dry. Always having a smile and pleasant demeanor. Clearly, a one in a million professional and high caliber addition...
Cute place with that “old bar” feeling. We ordered an old fashioned and a moscow mule and were both tasty and strong just like I like. We both got the crab cake platter with fries, salad, and coleslaw. The crab cake was amazing!!!!! As were the fries! I highly recommend this dish. We sat at the bar; the bartender was very friendly.
We ordered the crab dip and the bbq brisket sandwich. The crab dip was some of the best dip I’ve ever had. Creamy and delicious!! The fries were good, and the coleslaw was okay. Brisket was very tender, and the buns were really good, too.
This place was fun. Ate outside with a large group because we had the dog. Staff was excellent. Food was fantastic. The crab cake was mostly crab, not a patty of crab flavored breading like most restaurants.
Very friendly service and a beachy vibe. We were disturbed by the incorrect city mileage mural on the wall. Natty Boh FTW.
I give the place 4 stars for atmosphere, service, prices, but my sandwich was a 3 at best. I will take the hit in that I did not pay close enough attention to menu to note it said "crab dip" and not crab meat on top of the Chesapeake Chicken Sandwich. The chicken breast itself was dry and I could not taste the crab at all; just the creamed cheese. The fries were hot and tasty so, that was quite redeeming.
I visited the Tavern again the next day because it was next to my hotel and this time got the Smothered Chicken sandwich and it was a Home Run! I would not recommend the $35 Crab Cake Platter that has a single 4-6oz crab cake, small salad, 1/4 cup of slaw and fries. Beer is COLD!
Water Street Tavern has indoor dining and follows the health protocols scrupulously. And it is a family business run with passion and a love for excellent food. Everything that I have tried from their well thought out menu was outstanding. And they even create new stuff from time to time that will amaze.
I am going to join the chorus of people who say the crab cake is amazing. But don't sleep on the meat loaf or the wings (Asian honey BBQ) or the pulled pork...You get the idea. But food is only one facet of this gem. The ambiance is great! Young people (or those young at heart) will love the downstairs bar and the welcoming tables outside. While old stodgy fossils like me enjoy the wood grained upstairs.
And the staff is uniformly outstanding! They have a great memory for names and do everything to make sure your time is as enjoyable as the food. And this is the best part, time will get away from you and you will wonder what will be your next meal? Crab cake? Or tooth some one pound steak? Make sure not to miss this gem!
They were understaffed and the indoor dining was closed, but those are the times. We ate outside in the summer heat but there was a good breeze. The crab cake was excellent and the bartender took care of us the best he could.
Stopped here twice while visiting Baltimore and would definitely go again. Staff was exceptional, friendly, and absolutely were the high point.
Both visits were late night after other activities, and the kitchen was open until 1130p which initially served a need. ☺️
Food was fine if not almost great, definitely better than expected.
