I came here for Baltimore restaurant week with my partner, and it was a wonderful experience. The servers and host were friendly and attentive, and the service was quick despite how busy they were.
For the first course, I went with the strawberry and spinach salad; it was easily the best part of the meal and I would recommend it to anyone. Second course was a set of lamb tacos paired with chilled black beans, also very good but the flavor was a little lacking compared to the salad. Finished with the berry tart; it was fine, but as I was eating it a server walked by with an ice cream sandwich paired with a bottle of milk; if I had another chance I definitely would have tried that!
The formerly derelict mansion has once again been beautifully restored. Linda & Steven Rivelis have spared no expense, updating & revitalizing even the smallest detail.
The Ambiance, the Experience and the Food are all outstanding. The Team at The Elephant go above & beyond to cater to your every need. Some things are handled before you may even know you need the attention. As in the complementary glass of Muga Rioja Rosado 2014 with my Mussels Frites; since we had already ordered a bottle of outstanding Malbec, the Rosé was a perfect little bonus that made the meal even that much more delightful.
The upstairs lounge & bar with the famous 32' Italian Marble bar top are another world entirely, devoting a separate visit just for this level is duly warranted.
Very upscale, not affordable for anyone on a budget but definitely worth it if you're feeling like splurging a little. Or, Restaurant Week is your best bet. The building is fantastic and elegant, the food was phenomenal, and they also filmed House of Cards in this location! Win-win all over!
A historical jem. The elephant is a beautiful bar-restaurant offering delicious food and drinks. They carry local beers from two streets down (buzz brews) delicious food and beautiful ambiance. This cozy bar will give you a glimpse of how elegant the elite lived in Baltimore
Great Service!! Excellent Food!! Kyle was fantastic as a server!! Jonathan awesome kind bartender!! Beautiful dining room!!
Came for restaurant week. Ordered the Chicken Liver Mousse, the Duck Confit, and the Chocolate Hazelnut Semifreddo. The mousse was creamy and paired well with the crisp bread. The confit was well seasoned. And the semifreddo was just the right amount of sweet. The restaurant was well lit and had excellent old music playing.
The elephant is a great place for upscale food and ambiance in Baltimore. They have creative dishes and drinks and the staff does a great job of making you feel welcomed and taken care of.
Ambiance is beautiful, food is wonderful, staff is very accommodating. My only complaint was portion size, the food was so good I wanted more.
Beautiful space and wonderful, friendly service. Convenient parking right behind the restaurant for $5 in the evenings. The truffle "mozzarella stick" and scallops appetizers were delicious, as was the sweet potato ravioli. The stuffed pork chop looked incredible but was a little dry. There was a large party while we were there so it was louder than we expected and a bit hard to have a conversation. All of the staff were top notch.
My roommates and I went to The Elephant for restaurant week. We arrived a little early to so we got some drinks at the bar first. The craft cocktails are very good but the sangria left something to be desired. They were a little backed up due to it being restaurant week so we didn't get seated until about 20 minutes after our reservation. The food was delicious all around, my personal favorite was the braised short ribs. Overall, the meal was great and the ambiance was nice, I would definitely recommend for a nice dinner in Mt Vernon.
