Decent place for seafood. Part of my lobster roll tour of Mt desert island. Clam chowder here was best I've had yet on the island, rich and clammy. The lobster roll was decent, got it during happy hour so the price was better than most at $13 and it had a good amount of sweet lobster in it so I gave it three claws. Looking forward to going back and trying more.
If you want a classic Lobster dinner with good local beer - nothing fancy - this is the place to go! If you sit outside you can also have a nice view of the harbor.
Everything About this was just fantastic for all 4 of us. The Atmosphere was Clean ,Our Server was so Efficient and Nice. The food was delicious. We would recommend it to anyone in the area. Im not a big lobster person, but i tried my S.O Lobster Bisque anyway, and it was so good, especially with the garlic toast they give you with the Mussels. ( Ask for a side order of garlic bread. If you order a soup, you won't regret it!) The Mussels here are my #1 choice if i ever get the chance to come back to ME. I've eaten them 3 days in a row in different locations and they are it!
For 4 of us we spent $240 before tip, We each had 1 bar drink, ordered 2 apps for the table, 2 cups/1 bowl of soup, and 4 Entrées
We had a great time here. The seating is great as you are on the pier, even if it's windy a bit.
The host was great even when we told her they forgot the dressing on the bloody mary.
I had a blueberry mojito, which was generous in alcohol.
For food, we took bacon wrapped scallops as an entry.
After that, my wife took the lobster bisque, and it was great. I tried the linguini with white clam sauce, which was great to try for someone who is not a fan of clams.
All in all, a great dinner!
I really enjoyed this meal! I had the New England Lobster bake with Lobster, Clams, mussels, corn and potatoes. Everything was fresh and tasty! We also enjoyed the fresh calamari and Bacon Wrapped Scallops with Maple. The blueberry pie and blueberry crumple were also great!
Had the Flounder with a side of grilled shrimp 🦐 and lobster 🦞 tail. It was amazing. The garlic butter was actually warm.

I'm surprised that this place doesn't have higher reviews, and some of the 1 star reviews seem unnecessarily harsh. The food was absolutely amazing and a highlight of our day. We got the clam chowder, lobster bisque, chicken tenders (buffalo style), meat sandwich (kind of like a Philly Cheese Steak), and the blueberry pie. Honestly, this place helped me realize my love for clam chowder and I was told by my father that the lobster bisque was some of the best he'd ever had. My fiancé loved the sandwich (I stole a few bites and was impressed) as the meat wasn't dry, though, I would've liked a little more cheese or maybe some mayo. The fries were also very good. The best part for my group was the blueberry pie (I'm not big into sweets) with the blueberry icecream. Pricing was pretty on-par with the area, I think. We had a poor experience with lobster at a different restaurant the previous stop (also Maine) so we avoided ordering similar food. I will say that my only complaint was the staff, as they weren't necessarily friendly nor unfriendly, just sort of bland. But I suppose you go out to eat for the food, not the staff. The location was perfect, too - right next to the seaport to get back on our ship. Overall, if we visit again we'll definitely go back!
Right on the water, staff were friendly but seemed to be not happy to be there. Food was good, we thought the lobster was a bit anemic. It was a really expensive lunch.
Staff was nice food was good. My husband had the lobster roll and fries. He liked it. I had the fish tacos. I ate one it was good but couldn’t eat the second. I prefer my fish fried with tarter sauce lol but the tacos weren’t bad just trying something new! Had the real ale, great beer.
The staff was friendly but seemed like they were short staffed. The view of the bay was very pleasant. The food was mostly very good. I did not like " the potatoes " as they were just boiled potatoes with parsley on them. I tried to add butter, and then that failed, hot sauce....it was absolute fail. I would have been pleased with fries. I forgot to take a pic of my seafood stuffed haddock and it was delicious. The steamers were very good!

It was my first time to visit at Bar Harbor and your restaurant was the highlight of my day trip. I had a sad experience at the restaurant across from you (SLP) and walked out, but that is not important anymore, as your restaurant was much more wonderful anyway and made up for the prior heartbreaking experience! I am so happy we moved here to eat! You have great staff, kind and attentive and non discriminating workers, wonderful food and fast service, patient and hard working people. The food is amazing and you all know how to take care of your customers . As a person myself who works in the hospitality field, it was so nice to be treated kindly and asked if we were happy and your staff guaranteed our satisfaction and I saw all other customers and other tables happy. None of you even knew what me and my boyfriend went through at the other place. You all had genuine good people who were attentive and sweet and I thank you all for making an almost sad day become the best day and my best experience at Bar Harbor. When we return, it is you who we will always come back to and I have told everyone of your great atmosphere and service! Like what the great Maya Angelou said: "People will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel." ❤️
Had a great experience here, great food, great atmosphere, right on the water and umbrellas to both sit in the shade or soak in the sun while you eat. Highly recommend their oysters and lobster roll.
When you can’t have shellfish there are other options. this steak sandwich was delicious. Tagged along with fries that were fresh and crispy 🤤. I want it now thinking about it. The view was Phenomenal and nice. Great weather.
Great place especially on the 4th if July! The staff is always ready to help you and assist with everything including special reservations for fireworks on the dock! Food and drinks are amazing. Special thanks to Chris "Biggie " , the manager , and Liz, our awesome server for making the night so special. Lobster, steak, mussels, oysters, crab, and of course blueberry beer, margaritas, and soda for all. Always a pleasure coming here!
Excellent lobster bisque!!! The service at the bar was quick and everyone was friendly!
We enjoyed the the openness of the back area!! The food was good. We had fish tacos and they were pretty good. The seasoning was mild. Not real sure what exactly was missing. I had asked for a side of the roasted red pepper and garlic remoulade that came with the crab cakes. I poured some of that on the fish tacos and that did the trick. The Bloody Mary and the sangria were yummy! The crab cakes were delicious and made up almost entirely of crab meat!
We enjoyed the meal very much. The FHG has a great menu, and we enjoyed the chowder, the fish tacos and the Maine mussels. The portions were generous and the food was tasty. Love the garlic butter nage the mussels were happily soaking in. As well, the people at the next table were greatly enjoying a very generous lobster roll and crab rolls. All in all, a very pleasant experience.
Amazing host, very good service and tasty food. View is very good also.
I don’t know why here are some bad reviews but I really like this place and recommend it for everyone!
Prices are very good as well.
