Great atmosphere and great service, but today they were out of lemons, lemonade, sandwich buns, pretty much everything we were trying to order. Baked beans were good. Great ribs plate for the kids. Pulled pork was a little salty.
Phenomenal! Best brisket & baked beans I've ever had. They were out of the tamales & Mac-n-cheese, but we will sure be back to try them & everything else on the menu.
The Good: Ribs, Brisket, Chicken
The Bad: Service, Salty Pulled Pork
The Ugly: Out of Baked Beans
Overall: I will be back for the good items above. A little rough on service but not terrible as mentioned by other post.
Fantastic BBQ, I love the plates, you can pick your meats and how many sides! 5 visits- pulled pork, Mac n cheese and baked beans are the front runners!

Their atmosphere is humble and the prices are more than reasonable. I have never had a bad meal here. I am a huge fan of the Mason's Grill Cajun shrimp burger, but yesterday I had Pomanyoli's flamin bleu it is now my favorite cheeseburger in Baton Rouge! The brisket sidewalker is good too.
Some are complaining about how they run out of menu items sometimes but this tells me a few things:
Their ingredients are always fresh.
A lot of people are eating the food.
I must try different menu items.
Excellent. Decided tried this place out about a month ago, best BBQ we've ever had hands down! the ribs, chicken, and brisket all had an authentic char to their meat..the service was good....A huge improvement to the lackluster BBQ efforts around BR(most of them anyway..)
Outstanding. There are few words to describe the "deliciousness" of Pimanyoli's. Couple the great food with the family atmosphere and you've got a backyard BBQ without the pesky bugs.
And you HAVE to try the tamales.
Great food @ good price. I got the 3 oz. brisket with mac n' cheese and sweet potato fries. Everything was excellent but the mac n' cheese could use some spices. Also for dessert had the bread pudding. Yum!
I love this place!!!. I live in Houston Texas and while eating at a local BBQ place here someone told me if I really wanted good barbeque I should check out a place called Pimanyoli's next time I was in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. I did just that and have gone back with each visit back to the Red Stick. When I first walked into Pimanyoli's I could not help but notice the number of customers that were in the place. It was packed full. I stood at the bar talking to other customers while waiting for a table. I recall one guy telling me he eats there twice a day every day of the week. He even said if they started serving breakfast he would be waiting for them to open every day. I loved being there and didn't want to leave; the atmosphere was so friendly and welcoming. I was amazed at how the waiting customers used that time to meet new people, sharing their favorite dishes and stories of how they met and love the owners. Looking around I took in the décor; the artwork and the photos. Photos of members of their family I assumed. I was right; when I inquired I was told who the photos were of. This is truly a family place. Several tables opened up and we were lucky enough to get one. After hearing about this place a state away I couldn't wait to place my order. The waitress came over with menus, introduced herself, and told us what the specials were. I asked her what her favorite was and she named several things…everything is good, she said, you can't lose. I remember what I ordered on my first visit, it was the best brisket sandwich I'd ever had. My husband had the ribs, with Mac and cheese on the side (which I ate) and I completed the meal with blackberry cobbler and whipped cream (which I could tell was NOT Cool Whip). I declared it my favorite. I had to meet the people who owned this place so before leaving I asked if that was possible. Although they were clearly extremely busy, the owners took time out to visit my table and thank me for visting them. Since then my favorite has changed, to the pulled pork sandwich and then the BBLTA, always with the sweet potato fries. Just typing this makes me want to take another trip soon so I can get a new favorite dish. The waitress on my first visit was so right…you just can't lose no matter what you order. I've just read some of the reviews and have to address a couple. Mrspete2007 seems to have something against the owners because they really enjoyed the food. It sounds like a personal problem to me because I have never experienced what was described in that review. I find it humorous reading bad reviews that starts with how much they enjoy the food. Tip for L2May…when you go to a place as popular as Pimanyoli's right before closing time, chances are they may not have what you planned on getting. Also think about that wish of yours….if someone else took over this place do you think the food would be the same???? I think not. This place is wonderful…the people are friendly and the food is incredible. I wish someone would talk them into moving it to Houston!
Simply Good. Was happy to find them open on Memorial Day. Our waiter was great, he really knew the menu and explained the whole menu to us :). I ordered the BBLT which is brisket, applewood bacon (best around), monterey jack cheese, lettuce/tomato. It was the BEST sandwich I've had in a while. Great sides, I had the mac & chesse and fried potatoes. I will be making my way back!
Excellent BBQ!! Great atmosphere!!! 2 thumbs up all the way! The brisquit was amazing!
My favorite place for sandwiches, burgers, smoked meats, cobbler- and holy moly thAt mac n'cheese! Love the place, love the people. Service is great. Recommend it highly! Hardest part is deciding which thing to choose from the menu.
Great Place to Eat. There are not many places in Baton Rouge that I want to try everything on the menu, but this is one of the top places. Everything I've ordered has been great! I love the Side-walker hamburger, BBLT, pulled pork, shrimp salad, Ribs. I especially like the family style small business family atmosphere. If you like down home good cooking that will fill your belly. This is the place! OMG! Let me not forget the desserts, they are to die for, my favorite are the cobblers! alamode of course!
My husband and I were looking for something new and decided to try this restaurant. We were both pleasantly surprised. The food was wonderful and the service was great! They were out of brisket when we went, but that was fine as it means that it is cooked and served fresh and that it's good! The crows was a little older, but it was a good change of pace. We felt like we were at our grandparents' house--good Southern food and a comfortable atmosphere.
The staff was friendly. The service was great. The food: hot tamales, pulled pork with cole slaw and the brisket sandwich were wonderful. Will be coming back.
Great Food; Friendly Service. I was so pleased with the food and the service! I am a LA girl who has moved away (and I am a foodie). It is a great menu with the traditional LA seafood and incredible BBQ. Try the smoked sweet potato...it's one dish I have not had in any other restaurant in LA or elsewhere. GO and Enjoy!!!!
Just got back from Pimanyoli's and I must give these folks some props. Simple but quite elegant place. Get there early for weekday lunch because it fills up quickly. The service was great and the BBQ was even better. Had the Brisket Cafe Salad....if you want to call it a salad. There was more brisket and bacon on that plate than anything! The brisket was tender and flavorful. Cannot wait to go back and try the pulled pork or the ribs!
B.B.L.T.A!!!!! Nuff Said!. The B.B.L.T.A is a Brisket, Bacon, Lettuce, Tomato and Smoked Apple sandwich served on Texas toast! Are you kidding me right now!!!! How funky and awesome is that!!!!! If you want some downright tasty BBQ and other eclectic Soul/Southern fusion delights, don't think about it just go! Right Now!!!! Stop reading this, get in your car and GOOOO!!!!
To die for Gumbo. I'm a very well traveled person and this place has the best gumbo I've ever ate
I'm not sure how you couldn't LOVE this place. It is some of the best BBQ I've ever had. Nothing fancy, just damn good food. You're not going there for fine dining service. It is a family run joint. So sit down, relax, drink a glass of tea while you wait. We are lucky to have such damn good BBQ in this city!
This is the best!! If you like barbeque, or if you don't Pimanyoli's is a most. Mote than once friends have told me it was the best they ever had, and I agree. I did read the review from a disatidfied customer. What he did not know wad that there was a line waiting to get in at opening time. People enjoyed the food so much that they were running out. Lesson learned, I'll go early. Treat yourself and go - I doubt that you will regret it.
Why Pimanyoli's. If you are a fan of smoked meats this is the place for you. The succulent ribs are my favorite.10 x's Better than TJ Ribs baby backs. The meats are seasoned with their own dry rub then slow smoked for hours. There is also a slow smoked brisket and pulled pork. Favorite side dishes homemade mac- n- cheese, and green beans. there are several items to choose from, however these are the things I really like and I cant help but order the same things every time. OMG the Bread Pudding is the best I've ever had, its not too sweet and the rum sauce is awesome. The atmosphere is warm and cozy, it almost feel like i'm at home with family that can really cook and this is the only place in town that I will order red kool-aid and sausage & mustard as an appetizer. If you haven't tried it yet, it's time that you should.
Good spin on BBQ. In a city full of chains, Pimanyoli's is a refreshing local joint. It is more of a smokehouse than a barbecue restaurant. The tamales were great. So were the brisket and chicken. Both were smoky and perfectly cooked. My wife raved about the pulled pork sandwich with coleslaw. For the sides, the beans and macaroni and cheese were standouts. The prices are slightly on the high side (we spent almost $50 with entrees, appetizer, drinks and tip), but the atmosphere is pleasant and the service is friendly.
This place is really great.make sure and try their baked beans they're delicious!
Must eat BBQ. This is just a great place for BBQ the way it should be enjoyed. As a starter I had the pork sausage link with mustard. Yes! That's right for those who love grilling sausage and dipping it in mustard. I'm not sure of any other place that offers this. You can't pass up getting them. They also have hot tamales though we didn't try them. I had the beef brisket dinner that came with five slices of brisket, Texas toast, mac n cheese and potato wedges. Extra BBQ sauce is on every table in a squirt bottle. The brisket is even better than your grandma makes it for being a resturant. A fork only make it fall to pieces it's so tender. Incredible flavoring. Mac n cheese was creamy and cheesy just the way I like it. They had many options I wanted to try but know I will be back to try them. The ladies working there were super nice and told us each what their favorite items were on the menu that they had eaten for lunch. Go try it. Great food great service great pricing

This is an outstanding restaurant which is truly underrated in the Baton Rouge restaurant scene. You're not going to find better baby back ribs anywhere around here. In fact I didn't have better when I spent 4 days in Memphis eating nothing but BBQ ribs.

In a strip mall along Airline Highway, across the street from the Klienpeter Dairy, sits an unimposing barbeque restaurant that exceeded all of my expectations… and I expected it to be great! Pimanyoli’s Sidewalk Cafe & Catering serves smoked meats, incre
