Our second stop in this international food plaza came at Gold Town Sushi & Korean. We enjoyed a late lunch / early dinner and had most of the place to ourselves. Our server was friendly and attentive thou very casual and spending time with staff and customers almost like she was off the clock.
We started with the calamari appetizer. While I enjoyed it they use the thicker, tougher solid tentacle sections instead of the onion ring looking "body" section. The spicy stir-fried squid was tasty. Again the squid was a bit chewy but good flavors. The fried rice was very good and it was a large portion matching a slightly high price. The bento box was a nice assortment and large but the sushi was a bit underwhelming. I know sushi is in the name but but I'd go with the Korean BBQ and dishes and save the sushi for a Japanese place.
Great food and service. We will be back soon!
Gold town - I updated your menu image so it's readable. I love having a Korean restaurant in town and you guys have done a great job serving quality food! Thanks
Gold Town's vast menu includes bombs... bombs that will rip asunder your guts and make you cry for the heavens. But you'll gladly swallow every morsel packed with spicy tuna and Japanese spicy mayo, because they are magnificent and worth every bit of the pain to come.
Lived in Hawaii for 5 years, so got a pretty picky taste for fresh fish and sushi. Best Sushi in Bentonville. Very Fresh. Plus the bulgogi is outstanding! Great, friendly service. You can't go wrong with this place. Highly recommended
Tasty food, AWESOME service. We went during dinner which is not nearly as busy but still steady. The food was good, especially the bulgogi and egg rolls. I would definitely recommend the bulgogi for a first visit. The egg rolls were on the house and the owner/sushi chef was so nice. He helped us order and showed us how to eat the hot pot dish we ordered. The rest of the staff was awesome too, checking on us and just being very friendly.
I am hoping to try a few more dishes but I would definitely recommend going during dinner to get the amazing service experience.
So good!. Love this place! you must put your phone down and go now.
I loved this place!!! The service was great and the Korean BBQ was great. I do feel like they should give you the option of all you can eat Korean BBQ to make it more authentic. It was a bit on the pricey side and it wasn't all you can eat. Overall it was great food and excellent service.
Love going here but things in certain areas is over priced. Service is okay.
The best place to eat sushi everything looks delicious and tastes soo good. Awsome customer service. Will be back soon
Hands down, the best food we've had since we've moved here almost 2yrs ago. Sushi rolls; fantastic!
Authentic Korean!. I was traveling to NWA for work, and I drove past Gold Town at one point. Decided to go back and give it a try! I absolutely love Korean BBQ; I'm half Korean, and I've had it in Seoul, NYC, and LA.
Gold Town is the real deal. I can't tell you how many times I've been disappointed by a restaurant that claims to be Korean, only to serve Americanized versions of dishes. I also love that you can sit at tables and cook the meat yourself, the way Koreans do in BBQ restaurants elsewhere.
For newbies, I think bibimbap or bulgogi is a great way to start.
I try to come back every time I'm in town. My Mom called during my meal and I had her talk to the owners; they had a blast chatting and treat me like a long-lost daughter when I show up.
I've been here several times and I still love the food. The sushi is great- fresh and reasonably priced. Korean Menu is authentic. Try the bean curd soup.
Also, make time to try something from the Korean BBQ menu, it's a fun and unique meal. Wait staff needs improvement, and they also guilt you into buying more from the BBQ menu than you need. It's annoying. Bottom line: amazing food but staff needs improvement.
Feast. If you’ve ever wanted to have a multi plate, chop stick reaching, all out table wide Asian feast, this may be the place for you. our table had two versions of bulgogi, which apparently is a word that literally means ‘fire meat’, it was firey, but also hot, fresh, and satisfying. spicy chunks of animal flesh on a bed of veggies...it came with complimentary miso soup, rice, a free sushi roll, and about seven plates of various pickled veggies. we also got a california roll as well. the sushi was good, but it was clear it wasn’t the star of the evening, it was a supporting actor in an ensemble cast. after we had stuffed ourselves and were leaving pretty much every employee of the restaurant said good bye to us, it was as if we were leaving a new family we had just made. the lady up front said “see you next time.” and the resounding silent answer was, “yes, you will.
Love this place. We love Korean food and sushi so this place is the best of both worlds. Just looking at the menu it seems a bit pricey but don't let that scare you because it's totally worth it. You get a bunch of side dishes that they refill for you, unlike other Korean restaurants that charge you $$ for asking for a refill on sides. The folks here are very friendly too.
My 14 year old, half Korean son and I decided to make a date to visit this restaurant. He ate tuna rolls and Korean sea food pan cake. He loved it. He tasted everything that he never tasted before. Sushi was very good and all the side dishes were well marinated. We had Kalbi we cooked at the table which was fun and delicious! I will come back again.
Noticed a radical sign change. No longer known as Samurai. Is it the same owners?
A little bit pricey for barbeque again I'm from texas and I'm very picky about my barbeque
I LOVE THIS PLACE!. Very decently priced Korean Food, love the Kalbi, Bulgogi and Japche. I also love how there are many side dishes available. I always make sure to get my Korean food to go every week and if I ever dine in, I make sure to order the Korean BBQ - where I can cook the meat right on my table. I always love doing this, and in the past I can only get such food in NY and CA -- now I have it here in Northwest AR. Lastly the owners and staff are the best! If you love Korean food or would like to try it out, this is definitely the place!
Very good. My wife and I ate here last Friday night. Neither of us had eaten at a Korean place before but were up for the experience. The place is nicely decorated and we were met and seated quickly at a grill table. I ordered the bibimbap, and my wife the sliced rib-eye for the grill. As others have mentioned, they brought us a wide variety of small sampling type dishes, veggies, with both spicy and pickled,. Very nice. Then a bowl of miso soup each, and then dinner. The meat was very tender and tasty, we mixed in some of the veggies from the sampling bowls. The bibimbap was also very good, especially when I added the oils and sauce provided. Although the food is very different from what I've had before, I enjoyed it and will probably be back to try more on the menu. Very Tasty.
Chicken Yakisoba is fantastic!
Feels more Korean food oriented than sushi oriented. When you order, they bring out various kimchis (pickled vegetables). It definitely feels more like a Korean restaurant though they have a decent selection of sushi. The foods that I tried (went with a large group that picked off everyone's plates) were all very tasty.
Loved it. A Korean BBQ place opened and closed in Fayetteville before I managed to get to it. After trying Samurai, I regret not trying this cuisine earlier. But then, perhaps if it had been done as well as here, that place would still be open!
The service was friendly and prompt, the menu extensive, and everything was delicious. I recommend the Deji Bulgogi.
Although we did not try the BBQ-your-own-meat dishes, the smell from others doing so was wonderful, and I will definitely give that a try next time.
K-Town in Bentonville. This place brings me back to 35th Street, Manhattan, K-Town, Wilshire Blvd., Los Angeles and K-Town, Post Street, San Francisco. Usually Korean restaurants do one of three things, casseroles, bar-b-q or noodles (now some do Korean Burritos but that is a Moka Fuko thing). Samurai does it all and well. The décor is perfect authentic and they mix the noodle shop feel with the service of a high-end place (a lot of small dish starters, but not as many as a real high-end place). The prices are moderate and considering the attention to detail, a value. Personal service is always good when Johnny and Sunny are at the front or back of a restaurant. I did not have bar-b-q but there are around five tables for preparation while watching. The food I had was very good, not perfect but I imagine that there is a lack of sources for the product in the area. I can't wait until I get to return!
Sunny and Johnny are the best. Great food and friendly service just like when they owned Kobe. Now there in a better location.
Authentic gem. The owners previously had kobe restaurant and have brought korean bbq to bentonville! If you havent had it, you should...this is bigtime in cities like LA. Go in with an open mind as some of the side dishes may look a little foreign, but totally tasty and pretty normal. Have the owners teach you how to grill the meats at your own table and combine with the side dishes and sauces-yum!
Not cheap, but what is if the quality is there, especially when it comes to meat!
Good sushi isn't limited to Central Arkansas. The northwest part of the state has a surprisingly strong sushi-loving community, and there are several great places to get fresh fish and rice throughout the I-49 corridor. Of these, Gold Town Korean BBQ in Bentonville is my favorite. Tucked into the back corner of an unassuming strip mall at SE 14th and J Streets, it doesn't look like much. There's also the whole term Korean. Don't worry about it. You're going to like it. There are lots of options, including a fantastic bulgogi and bi bim bap, but if you're going for sushi, go for lunch. The Sushi Lunch special is $10..95, and it's five pieces of nigiri plus your choice of one of ten rolls -- California, Crab Stick, Tuna, White Tuna, Salmon, Red Snapper, Vegetable, Spicy Crab, Spicy Tuna and Philadelphia -- and it comes with miso. For a quick lunch, it's nicely priced and quick. Other possibilities include a Sashimi Lunch and a Roll Combo -- or you can go for the Sushi Special for
I haven't had good Korean BBQ in over 11 years since I lived in Philadelphia. There was a place in New Jersey that a group of us from the Software Engineering used to pack up and drive to.
