Sweetheart is the place you go for boba ridiculously late at night when the rest of the city is sleeping. Drunken frat stars, 24 hour studiers, and neighboring restaurant staff make up the majority of the popular drink stop's clientele, particularly in the crowded midnight and post-midnight hours. It is successful for good reason; in my opinion, Sweetheart serves the best boba in Berkeley. Most of you will stop reading there, either incensed by my naiveté or determined to give the place a shot. Allow me to explain my hotly debated view. Most of the other contenders for the title (Purple Kow, ShareTea, Bobo Drinks, Quickly) either feel unwelcoming and sterile or have major faults with their drinks. Quickly has weak tea and terrible boba. ShareTea relies on good tea and ignores the pearls altogether. Bobo and Purple are strong on both components, but are far more expensive. No place combines price, pearl, and tea the way Sweetheart does, and no other shop has as friendly a staff or as welcoming an ambiance. If you want snacks, though, head to one of the others. Aside from the fried chicken, none of Sweetheart's items are worth the money. It's a place to get a good quick drink and nothing else.

Husband and I from out of state and looking for something close to us late night, we just happened to ride down this street. I got some stuff from the store next door and the smells coming from this place were good so we checked it out. We thought the burgers fries and ketchup were some of the best we’ve had. The meals were simple and they were so good. We will definitely visit this place again. The ordering system was quick and easy although I derply couldn’t find where to insert my chip.haha. I read the other reviews in the morning before I made this and I think this is worth mentioning the man was friendly and polite to me, it was late around 2:30AM.

I go here regularly, their sweetheart black tea is good, their fried octopus is a little too salty sometimes but their instant rice is pretty good, I have mixed feelings about this place, the boba is good but the people there are extremely rude, I came in and sometimes they don’t even bother to talk to you, I misunderstood where my order was and the guy just looked at me and stared me down then after I kept asking where I can pickup my order he finally showed me, also they act like they’re caught off guard whenever I tell them my order number, I always make sure to say my number clearly but I have to constantly repeat myself, if you order ahead on snackpass it’s alright, but this isnt the place to enjoy your service or enjoy waiting in the line they usually have of people ordering.

My favorite boba place!! Many variations of the black tea and you can do regular milk or non-dairy creamer. But most importantly, by far the best, tastiest, chewiest boba balls!!
