Awesome chile rellenos, chicken falls off the bone. Mole is excellent too. One of the most authentic restaurants in the area. Great for carry out!
Perhaps the most intriguing are the Huaraches. No, not the Mexican sandals popular with the Bohemian set. Barry Popik explains that huaraches are “thick, oval-shaped corn tortillas, often topped with meat, cheese, beans, and cooked cactus leaves.” The name “huaraches” was either coined or popularized by a popular Mexico City restaurant named El Huarache Azteca.
Lupe's has a very much under-appreciated dish in Mexican cuisine - Caldo de Res! It is a beef and vegetable soup in a delicious broth. I have no idea why it is not as popular as Vietnamese Pho, but if you like soup, eating it here will definitely make you a fan! The Camarones a la Diabla is also very good!
Note: Lupe serves corn tortillas by default and you have to mention if you prefer flour. Both are homemade and delicious!
Went there for my first time for breakfast and it was excellent. I had a breakfast burrito of egg, bacon and cheese. Super good and filling. The corn tortillas were really, really, good - thick and chewy. Great prices! I would highly recommend.
This is a Small Mexican Restaurant but the food is sooooo GOOD! My favorite it the Mendudo but I’ve tried their other dishes and everything always tastes fresh and delicious. The corn chips are perfect and i won’t forget to mention the waitress who's always so helpful and kind. Cheers to the Chef at this place! I’ll be back often.
The meal was very good, had it to go, was not real fast. So ordered it and took the car thru Mr car wash and even did some vacuuming of it. And went back and still waited for another 5-10 minutes.
If you go into the restaurant for a meal, looks like they give you chips and salsa (green salsa) (they put it in our take out meal)
So you have something to take up the time as you wait for the meal.
We had a Gordita stuffed with meat, very good. One meal was enough for 2 people, unless you are a big eater!
All and all it was good, will have to try some of the other dishes they make.
This restaurant serves authentic Mexican food. We visited this restaurant often when they were located on Zuni & Tennessee. Always great flavor and service. It's no different here but be aware that if they get busy it will take them awhile to serve your food. We went on a Friday around 7 p.m. and we waited about 50 minutes for our food. We waited because the food is worth the wait. So just be aware and be patient if you happen to arrive at a busy time.
Lupe's Antojitos is a small Mexican food restaurant with friendly staff and great tasting food. The wait was a bit long that day and the restaurant seemed to to be operating at a 50% reduced capacity, which is one of the reasons customers were waiting to be seated the whole time we were there.
I ordered a combination plate that included a chile relleno, a red enchilada, a piece of carne asada, and rice and beans. It was delicious! My wife tried their menudo and it was quite tasty too. The prices were fair and given the current government restrictions on restaurants, it was operating as efficiently as it could. However, it could have easily used another server as only one was working that day.
I highly recommend this place if you truly enjoy Mexican food. Remember, this is Mexican and not New Mexican food, which can taste slightly different...
Great food! I had a Carne Asada Quesadilla and really enjoyed it. Restaurant is still social distancing so it has limited capacity, but it wasn't super busy on a Saturday night. Seems like an equal amount of people order take out compared to dining in.
