Was visiting the D.C. area for my Birthday bought tickets to the Luther lives. The show was awesome.. we paid $50 plus dollars for the food. It was good food but served in a meal prep container. I wasn't expecting this considering the price. The expirence was nice but please upgrade the way dinner is served.
My boyfriend and I visited this establishment to see Dwele perform. All in all, we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. The food prices were a bit high in my opinion and it is all served in to go containers. The tables are rather close together. It took awhile for us to receive portions of our order. They continue to serve food and drinks throughout the show. For the amount of people the venue serviced, they could use additional restrooms.
I saw Tony Toni Tonè at this venue. The band was phenomenal! One of the very best live shows that I've had the privilege to see!!! The sound was good, but it was difficult to understand what was said when the singers would talk between songs. I enjoyed the intimacy of the venue in terms of the small crowd. It's best to get there at least an hour early. Parking is located in a garage under the venue, but you need time to get in, get seated, order drinks, and/or a meal. If you don't get food and drinks before the show starts, it will be difficult once it's crowded. I had wings and mashed potatoes with a passion fruit margarita. The wings were tasty, the drink was bitter, and the mash was meh. There was no salt or butter! In terms of the look of the venue... it truly needs updating! It still looks like a very old movie theater, and it was truly hot inside.
Up close and personal to stage and performers without paying a zillion $$$ nice grown folk spot , everyone with clothes on date night with your significant other. Chante Moore have some really powerful pipes
We saw Avery Sunshine!! The show was more than amazing. We had great seats. Everything was laid out well. There is a parking garage on the same block as the club and parking is free on the weekends. We showed up at 6p to order food and drinks. The drinks were good. Food was flavored well. They serve the food in take out containers. There is a $20 dollar minimum per person for food/drinks. Overall the atmosphere and experience was a good one. We look forward to seeing more shows here.
I was recently invited to a Sunday show and was very impressed with everything.
The venue is so nice but comfortable, food was excellent, service was also very good but most of all the acoustics are excellent. I will also add that we sat at a table and didn't feel squeezed in like I did at a place in Annapolis. Parking is important so I think most people can park inexpensively or on the street.
I am already looking at the calendar to go again and invite some friends. WINNER WINNER FOR A DATE, A FEW FRIENDS OR EVEN A GIFT.
I attended the Vivian Green concert 7/8/23 and man what a time we had. The venue was very structured and clean. The tables are close together but I didn’t feel uncomfortable. They had a comedian open up for the event. He was soooo funny. The show went seamlessly with beautiful tunes and great vibes all night.
Notes:
Parking tip: take a pic of your parking spot number. You’ll need that to pay at the kiosk or have to go back and get it, like I did.
Directions: Take the elevator for Wisconsin street. Walk out iron door and up the sidewalk (100 ft, maybe). The building is on your right once you make it to the street.
We saw Norman Brown at BB&J. The food and drinks saved the evening. Norman was over one hour late before he played. There was no sound check, so when Norman came out to play - it was terrible. They were tending to the system while he was playing. I agree with other posts that said, BB&J needed interior upgrades. This is true. The venue is dated. The tables surrounding the stage are too close together. We did have pleasant surprises, though. Our waitress was on it with our food orders and drinks! We thought we were too late to order dinner based on online statements about BB&J. They don't have great tequila options, though. If you like Casamigos and Patron, you'll be fine. However, if you are a true tequila drinker - these aren't it. They mixed a great Hendricks and tonic, and they have Hennessy VSOP. They also serve a seafood lasagna with red and white sauce. ORDER IT! IT WAS FANTASTIC! The shrimp are large, and there is fresh crabmeat. Also recommend the vegetable fried rice. I didn't mind our food coming in to-go containers. It made sense given the number of people being served and no space for actual plate settings at the small tables. Besides, we had leftovers to take home. It was convenient and allowed the wait staff to keep moving. There's parking around the corner next to the dealership. The walk is short and nice for couples or groups to casually walk to their vehicles. Overall, it was a nice evening. I would probably visit BB&J again for its intimate setting, food, and drinks. However, if another sound problem occurs - I probably wouldn't go back a third time. Sound check needs to happen BEFORE the artist comes out.
Four stars for a nice venue and a good variety of performers. Good acoustics. Food is ok. Not great, not horrible. Acceptably decent. Drinks are expensive, but I guess that goes with the situation. Staff was nice, friendly and attentive, especially considering the crowd. I was a bit turned off with the bill. A 20% gratuity was added, with a supposedly "custom" tip. The custom part was on top if the already claimed 20%. Regardless, the music was good, and we had fun. Will be back.
The food is much better than it used to be. The drinks are overpriced and aren’t that good. Trying to figure out why the bar charges different prices than when you are at your seat for the same drink. Plan to arrive early before the show starts if you are ordering dinner. Once the show starts and the auditorium is full, the service slows down drastically.
Food was OK. I had shrimp and grits and my friends said the wings were good. The show was really good
Parking can be tricky, especially coming from out of town and not being familiar with the area. Nice location- Bethesda. Love the intimacy of the space. No bad seats. Front tables may even guarantee a spot in the show. Was here for the DC black Broadway production of Grease - my nephew is a cast member. About 10 of us in our party. Didn't order food because we had planned to eat at a local restaurant afterwards. Glad because food seemed to be brought out in plastic containers. A bit disruptive to have wait staff constantly come out during the show asking if we wanted drinks/food. Wait time was too long - one drink came out close to end of show. Not sure if company sets price or venue, but $90@ticket is pricey for local theatre. Website originally said there was a $20 min food order included in ticket when we purchased. That mysteriously disappeared. Would patronize again to offer support to family and friends.
Took my best friend to the Hip Hop Alumni show for his birthday 🎂 🥳. We had a ball. The seating, service and drinks were good. The show was more than we expected. It was a great place to treat someone for their birthday.
This is a nice club to see performers and enjoy an evening out with friends and family. The tables on the main floor are close together so get there early so you don’t have to navigate through so many people. The food and drinks are pretty good and the prices are reasonable. There is stadium styled seating in the back with approximately 8 rows of chairs. You can order drinks and food from the bar area and bring it back to your seat if you sit in the back stadium seats. The sound quality and acoustics of the musical performances is good as well.
The venue was nice, however sitting in seats off the floor, at a cost of $75.00; I thought it was inappropriate that we couldn't be served. In order for us mature adults to have to climb stairs and then desend from the Gallery to purchase food and drinks, I was astounded. I drove from Delaware to DC in order to observe the show, I will reconsider in the future.
I have been to Bethesda Blues many many times for so many events : live concerts, comedy shows and more. I enjoy myself every time. I love the options of artists they showcase. The tickets are reasonably priced. Now post Covid they changed management or food vendor & their food prices has increased ALOT! I do think that is ridiculous. You could eat before you arrive, but you still have to purchase something like drinks or dessert. Overall I always have a great time and enjoy the performance.
