Absolutely the BEST Mexican food in the DMV. Platanos, mole, and the nicest staff out there.

The interior decoration is amazing, creating an exotic and lovely dining experience. The waiters were super helpful. We were a bit overwhelmed by the menu, and told him what we’re looking for. All the recommendations we got are amazing! Absolutely love the Mole Bueno - the special Mexican sauce is just yummy! Also love their salsa sauce that goes with the chips - we prob have way too much chips than we should. Caramelized bananas are a very nice touch to end the meal.

We absolutely love this spot! Excellent service, really tasty authentic Mexican food with nice ambiance in the entrance floor and more casual sitting on the rooftop area.

I feel a bit daft it was only the first time, I had eaten here. The rooftop had a great atmosphere but more importantly the pork shoulder tacos were freaking amazing. Hopefully in the winter it can stay warm enough up there. I will definitely be back

I’ve had a lot of Mexican food in my life and Tia Queta was just okay! The chips were undersalted and the salsa was rather watery. However the vegetarian enchiladas were quite delicious, although this was one of the few vegetarian options on the menu. Also the only available dining space was the rooftop terrace and the fans did not do enough to cut through the Maryland humidity.

Tia Queta has quickly become the restaurant that my whole family is suggesting when it is time to decide what we are eating for dinner. Not only does Tia Queta have undoubtedly the best Mexican food in Bethesda, but the rooftop bar is an unbeatable atmosphere, drinks are high quality and low priced, and service is always fast. I am writing this review as I believe this is a restaurant that everyone should walk into, and their consistency, great vibes, and excellent cuisine will bring you back!

Tia Queta is a great family-owned Mexican place that has stood the test of time! The covered roof is lovely for margaritas and food in the summer, and downstairs is always cozy during the colder months. The house margarita on the rocks is a fresh go-to, the nachos with chicken or steak (made on individual chips to ensure crisp perfect bites) and shrimp tacos, or pork shoulder or short rib tacos seasonally, make for a fantastic meal. While they do have some typical familiar Mexican dishes, they also have amazing mole, seafood, and a wide variety of pork and beef options beyond what you'd expect from DC Mexican food. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable, and happy to go the extra mile when needed. Love this place.

A little overpriced, but overall good experience. Service was great and food was impressive. I had tamales, which were good. I’ve had better Mexican food, but not served by white guys in Maryland.

Hands down the best Mexican food in the area. It’s family owned and operated. We visit once a week and the food is always so great! The quality is consistent and service is excellent. Tia Queta is amazing all year round but in the summer they have the terrace upstairs which is a great hangout spot - feels like you’re sitting in Mexico City. You also run into familiar faces here which adds to the family style appeal. I highly recommend visiting Tia Queta and enjoying the food and service yourself :)

Tia Queta is my favourite restaurant in Bethesda -- I take all of my visitors there and everyone loves it, as well. The personal service and welcoming ambience is only exceeded by the fantastic food. Try the superb mole, the great beers on tap and enjoy the rooftop seating when the weather is warmer. Andrew, John and team really go out of their way to make all of their guests welcome! Highly recommended.

Love this place! Great authentic food, lively atmosphere and an attentive staff. Best enchiladas verde I've ever had! All at a reasonable price. A true gem in Bethesda.

This is my favorite place in Bethesda. Personable staff, big portions, good prices, and amazing food! The rooftop is a little bit of an oasis among the ever increasing number of cookie cutter high rises and chain restaurants. It’s too good to keep it Bethesda’s best kept secret!

Customer service is stellar. Which is great because 99.9999 I dine alone. The gentleman is sooo nice. 2nd time I also met I believe one of owners daughter. Or maybe not. (Long blonde hair & young) She was so nice. Food the first time was great. Second time is was OK. Chicken enchiladas need more with flavor. Chicken seemed canned & mushyy. Like cilantro, small diced onions and cumin (little) However, the Verde sauce was very good.

Have been going to Tia Queta for 25 years! Great family-owned restaurant and they make you feel like family. Best Mexican food and Margaritas in the DC Metro area!! Can’t wait for warm weather when the upstairs open air roof is open!

Service at the bar was amazing! Rice was actually flavored and beans were phenomenal. I had the carne and it was cooked to my exact request. Margaritas were great too!

This is an amazing place for REAL Mexican food. Phenomenal seafood and sauces. We were initially drawn to this restaurant almost 20 years ago by their rooftop deck that reminded us of the restaurants right off the beach in Mexico- stayed for the food and amazing owners who treat everyone like family.

Tia Queta has been a reliable mainstay of my dining experiences in the DMV area for years now. I've been a repeat customer there because of the great service, excellent margaritas, and fantastic menu. I personally believe that there simply is no better mole to be had anywhere in DC, hands down. Period. End of discussion. Their Mole Bueno is a classic Mexican dish you can get to try it out, but I recommend getting the grilled chicken tacos and asking them to add the mole sauce. They're very accommodating in that respect, going the extra mile to make your meal exactly what you'd hope for. Another item that is an absolute must if you go are the Tacos Al Pastor and if you prefer to have the meat without the soft tortillas, just ask for the Carne Enchilada dish. The Tia Queta margs will keep you asking for more or you can try the Iceberg (a pour of frozen margarita floating in light Mexican beer, quite the summer treat!) I would say this restaurant is less Tex Mex and more authentic Mexican with an extensive menu that includes plenty of seafood dishes. It's without a doubt a hidden gem of Bethesda.
