This is my second time here. Again I wasn't disappointed. From the customer service, to the haste, hotness, flavor of the foods .
Such a beautiful place from the Egyptian paintings on the wall that the owner had painted herself to the decor. It's definitely an experience.
Wow! We’ve been wanting to try this place for years as Big Rapids is the perfect place to stop on our way from Grand Rapids to Traverse City. We finally made it happen with timing and couldn’t be more in love with this place. Nawal not only made some of the best Mediterranean food we’ve ever had, she was so kind and welcoming to us! We had the Shawarma platter with lamb and chicken, the lamb shank, baklava, a peanut butter cupcake, and delicious wine and Turkish coffee! Everything was incredible. We begged her to start a restaurant in Traverse City! Definitely try this spot out! You won’t regret it.
Nawal's food is made with love, that's the only way I can describe how incredible everything is on her menu. The restaurant is charming, the waitstaff are attentive, but best is that every meal is fresh and comes from the kitchen of a world class chef. I'm amazed every time I eat there. My advice: order the special, whatever it is, and don't forget the baklava.
Really good restaurant, they had live music going on which was really good. Food was amazing. They had the biggest Long Island tea. The owner Nawal was so friendly and it was lovely to talk to her.
Such a hidden gem in Big Rapids! We always enjoy visiting. Today my husband had the Chicken Gnocchi Soup and he said it was the best soup he has ever had! I enjoyed the Lamb Gyro lunch combo. We all had the lemonade and took cupcakes to go.
Lamb chops are delicious. Staff is super friendly and kind. We went in on a Friday after noon and they had excellent live musicians. Everything was delicious even the salad and I'm not a fan of salad
I’m so glad we found this restaurant. The cook and owner were so pleasant. The food is outstanding. I believe they may need a waitstaff but they took over when waiter was no where to be found. Even if the waitstaff were a problem I would get my food to go because it is delicious. Beautiful atmosphere also. I only wish I were closer to this place, but it definitely my BR place to go!! There is no such thing as Mediterranean food in central, Northern Michigan or there wasn’t. Now we have the best place in the state 🥰
Exceptional. Truly fantastic! From the atmosphere, to the super friendly service and the amazing food, Nawal’s is my new favorite place for date night (or girls night out, or really any time you are hungry!). I ordered the champagne chicken (which was the special for the night) and it was absolutely amazing. Seriously, go visit. You will NOT regret your decision!
The Hibiscus tea was very refreshing, the hummus was nice and garlicky. Ordered the Chicken shawarma. It was very favorable. Seasoning was on point. Everything was fresh. What a great find in Big Rapids Michigan. The owner is respectful, nice and the employees interact well with customers. They are a not to be missed spot if you are in the area.
I had the chicken tawook and also a side of hummus. The tawook is the best I’ve ever had, and that’s comparing it to well known Detroit locations as well. The hummus was really good as well. Everything was also homemade and it showed. I also had the pleasure of meeting the owner and she is a super sweet woman with a great sense of humor. I will definitely be coming back and if you haven’t had the pleasure of eating here, you’re definitely missing out. Oh, the desserts looked amazing but I was sooo stuffed already—they’re also homemade. Seriously, this place is a food heaven.
The decor of the restaurant was amazing as well as the hospitality! We were greeted by Nawal, the owner, and she was so kind and attentive. Really shared her wisdom with us, which I loved!! We love that she shared her knowledge of her culture as well as the food! She said, "I would never serve you something that I wouldn't put into my body." That is a true restaurant owner. There is a sign on the door that says something along the lines of "come as a stranger, leave as a friend" and it couldn't be more true. The owner so friendly and on top of it all an amazing cook! I've never had better stuffed grapes leaves and lamb gyro as I did at Nawals! 10/10!

The decor is beautiful, I kept leaving my table just to walk around and look at the pictures.
The food was really good..I recommend the gyro and Shawarma as well as the Hibiscus Tea.
Our waiter Jay was friendly and informative.
And got a chance to meet Nawal the owner who is a very beautiful person.
We left there with a smile on our face and handmade souvenirs that were from Egypt.
I definitely recommend this restaurant.

After our meal Nawal came to our table an gave us a sample of the daily special a d it was a chicken dish and the flavor was immense.
Got the bread pudding to go as she said it is her signature dish.
100% highly recommend this restaurant and we will go back.
I had the chicken gyro and bread pudding 🤤🤤 the gyro was perfection, legit 10/10 highly recommend! The bread pudding was so amazing, it has a brandy caramel sauce that is incomparable to any other caramel *chefs kiss*
Simply stated, it's the best restaurant in town. The food is perfect. Nawal is an amazing woman, who puts all her love into the food she creates. She makes the world a better place to live.
I had a Salted Carmel cupcake, and it was, by far, the best tasting cupcake I've ever had. My in-laws brought them on a visit, and they were a day old. It was still moist, delicious, and decadent. I had cupcakes fresh from Sweet by Holly in Jacksonville, FL, and they don't even come close. I look forward to trying other flavors the next time I am in the area.
Thanksgiving meal review: this year was a bit different for us and we went to Nawals for our meal prep. Wow! The service was great, the turkey was so moist and the flavor was out of this world, honestly the best turkey I've ever had. The food all the way around was made from scratch and you could tell it was made with love and real ingredients. The gravy and green bean casserole had a homeade sauce blend that had amazing flavor, the sweet potatoes seemed to be made with maple syrup maybe, not as sugary as usual but a great flavor profile that everyone enjoyed. The carrots were lighlty seasoned and sliced making it essy for the kids and they were fork tender with just the right amount of crunch left. The amount of food we got was insane. It was likely enough food for 10-12 people and leftovers. The pie was a 12 in and so yummy also!
This little local gem is hidden, so if you're in the area by chance then you likely will not see it (tragically). I've been here four years and just visited last week because I forget it's there.

Nawals offers amazing food at an affordable price! The people are kind and knew most of the people in there by name. It feels like walking into your home and having an old family friend make you lunch. Easily some of the best Mediterranean food I have ever had, and certainly the best restaurant on the west side of michigan! Highly recommended!
