We love Eli's! We have been coming here for years. I still remember how excited I was when they put the sign up and were getting ready to open. The service is wonderful and the food is 10 stars! The quality and taste is unmatched. I can't tell you a dish I recommend because I recommend them all! My friend Calli and I like to share the vegetarian plate. I love the chicken shawarma. My husbands favorite is the the chicken schnitzel sandwich. And all the salads and sides are so delicious. You get the point. Stop what you are doing right now and go to Eli's!!!
You walk in the door and already start salivating just from the smell of spices. Then the food comes and you take your first bite, and your mouth explodes with flavor. The food is incredible! The staff are very friendly and helpful. A definite must visit!!! My new favorite place in town! I can't believe I waited so long to try it!
I ate at your Pizitz location today!!! I had beef/lamb shawarma and cous cous.........Service was friendly and quick!
Omg!!!!! #1 I've never eaten middle eastern food before & #2 I've never had lamb before. Best food I've eaten in a long time. I will be back!!!
We ate there last night. The food was wonderful!!! Nora was our server, she was awesome, she answered our questions and was very timely with our food and refills. We will definitely go back. The lamb kabob is to die for!!
We usually are there in afternoon. Not many folks there that time of day. Staff is friendly, music not too loud. The pita bread is melt in your mouth! The shawarma is so good you hate to swallow . I’m so glad my hubby suggested we try it! Try it, you’ll not be disappointed!
Excellent food, I loved the lamb chops. They were cooked perfectly. Pink in the middle. The staff was friendly and helpful with suggestions as I have never eaten this type of food. The next time I am in Birmingham, I will definitely go there.
Our whole family loves Eli's, including my 7, 5, and 1 year old. The falafel and vegetarian platter are our favorites! The atmosphere is great too!
It is worth the hour and a half travel to eat here. My most favorite place!
Amazing fresh food and very friendly service. I love this place. Beef/lamb shawarma is the best I've ever had!
This was my first time to have Israeli food. The staff was very good at making suggestions and everything I tried was delicious.
The food is good. Our favorite item is the bread, they serve plenty of it and it's warm and delicious. Also make sure you order some hummus!
Went to this little gem today because of a recommendation from a friend at work, and was not disappointed. This family run restaurant serves food made with pride, and we really enjoyed what we ordered.
Eli's is one of our favorites for this type cuisine. Their falafel is fabulous! Our favorites here is their hummus (great texture, love the flavor!), falafels, salad plate is great- so much variety and slot of food! We've had several of the dishes- and they are good. Is just the veggie plate is our personal favorite :)
4.5 stars because Baba ghanoush doesn't have the roasted flavor like I like.
If we could get kenefah like the first time i ever tried it, would be perfect!! :)
I went there for lunch today and will definitely be back. The guy at the counter was nice and the food came out fast. Friendly folks and tasty food!
There's not a better shawarma plate in all of Greater Bham! The salad sampler & a shawarma plate (all of them are good) have plenty of food to feed two people. Great value without sacrificing quality of meat & veggies.
I eat here at least once if not twice a week. My goal is to try everything on the menu. I'm stuck on their chicken shwarma, beef and lamb shwarma and kefta plates.
Sometimes it is a bit warm dining in but atmosphere and staff are excellent.
Interesting wine selection as well. I will need to try their vino soon.
Just tried Eli's for the first time today. Great food and friendly staff. I will definitely be back.
Great food and great people!. The food is so fresh yet healthy and at a great price. The owner and staff are so nice. We love going here!
Great food and great environment. Have come back many times an will keep coming back.
This place is worth checking out. Great food and great staff! I have dined here a couple of times and everything I have ordered has been great. Please order the Turkish coffee after your meal!
This is a keeper! Chicken shwarma, hummus, salad on our First visit. Hot and delicious! The prices are reasonable, serving sizes are good, service is friendly and fast, and the decor is nice. Really enjoyed it!
Great food. Vegetarian plate is a good sampler plate. Falafels are so good. Chicken shawarma was great. Friendly and helpful staff and nice decor at good prices. This will be a new favorite for our family.
Great!!. Great food, Great environment, Great prices!
Eli's Jerusalem Grill is a warm friendly restaurant with wonderful and authentic Israeli food! We love it!
First time here, the food was great. Chicken Shawarma and Kefta Kabobs. the staff was awesome and very helpful. We will definitely return.
Great. Awesome fresh food done very well by nice people, great service.
Excellent food. Much needed new restaurant in this area. A big hit! Check it out...
Best new restaurant in this part of town. The food here is great. I hate to tell people about it, because it's getting busy! I really like everything I've eaten here...four times to date.
I really enjoyed this place. They had organic chicken grass fed beef, grass fed lamb. It was delicious. The pita bread was absolutely fantastic!
First Visit - B. Eli's Jerusalem Grill had a great rating (90%), so we were anxious to check them out. Upon entering, we were warmly greeted by smiling faces and welcoming words - everyone was so very friendly! They really turned the atmosphere into something warm and welcoming - a lot different to the other spaces in the strip mall. We ordered the hummus with fresh pita, Chicken Shawarma with 1/2 rice and 1/2 couscous and Kefta Kabobs with 1/2 rice and 1/2 couscous. The hummus was tasty and the pita was fresh and delicious! I wish there were more chicken on the Chicken Shawarma, but it was good all the same. I really liked the Kefta Kabob - flavoring and all! We really liked the green hot sauce that was brought out - it went really well mixed in with the rice and on the tomato/cucumber salad. Overall, we really enjoyed our dinner. This would be a great lunch spot that I will keep in mind. Good job, guys!
"Zing" go my tastebuds. This organic recipe/ingredient restaurant is the real deal! No processed foods, all fresh. If you like incredible food, in general...go to Eli's...you will not regret the experience. Staff is helpful and kind. Menu has great descriptions so you get exactly what you want. Did I mention ORGANIC? Best fuel for my body especially for those who eat "clean". Portions are excellent. Go now!!!!!!
Jerusalem in Birmingham.. It's been a long while since we had a good Israeli restaurant in Birmingham. And the people at Eli's are doing it right! I went straight for the combination plate to get a taste of everything it it is awesome! It's on Highway 280 behind Wendy's where Jersey Mike ' s use to be. It will be a must for people who like Mediterranean food. The pita is the best I have ever eaten and nothing on the combo plate was less than excellent.
Best Hummus In Town. The Hummus is delightfully creamy and is served with warm, pillowy pita - which is made fresh in the kitchen. I've also had the Falafel - satisfying crunch on the outside and delicious chickpea and herbs on the inside. I also recommend the Red Beet Salad and the Lentil Soup. There are plenty of items on the menu with which your average Southerner will have had some familiarity, as well as plenty for the more adventurous appetite...everything from Beef Kabobs to Baba Ghanoush. There is a kid's menu with Chicken Schnitzel, Falafel and Kosher Hot Dogs.
The restaurant, itself has a cozy, family atmosphere and is convenient to the highway 280 business district. Eli, who can be found either taking orders or cooking behind the counter, also purchases his vegetables from Owls Hollow Farm, which is just north of Gadsden. Those familiar with Pepper Place have seen Owl's Hollow on Saturdays in the Summer. Only grass-fed beef and organic chicken is used in the dishes at Eli's. The cooking oil is non-GMO and the basmati rice and Israeli couscous is organic.
I highly recommend this place. The cost is very reasonable - most everything on the menu is between $6 and $10.
Love, love, love!!!. The service, as well as the food is amazing. The staff is top notch. They have a menu outside of the restaurant (which is typical), but they actually have servers come out and explain the menu to you. So warm & inviting! They invite you in, make suggestions, explain ingredients used and service you with such warmth. Again, the food is amazing and have enjoyed dining with them several times. Highly recommend doing business with them. They appreciated their customers, appreciate the business that they have earned and give a personal touch to each customer they meet!
Great job! I wish you much success!

Love, Love, Love!. Finally a traditional Middle Eastern Restaurant that we will now call home. The food was amazing. The service outstanding! Plus, all Meats & Veggies used, organic & hormone free! Plus they use local Alabama farmers (FDA Approved) for a majority of their meats & vegetables! Love the fact they support our local farmers! Very impressed and will be life long customers. Totally worth the drive from Sylacauga & will be happy to make the drive at least once a week (that's how good the food is & the quality, over the top!).
Posted on November 21, 2014 by deepsouthfoodie Mr Foodie and I were running some errands at the Summit (read: guiltily returning some online shopping purchases) and looking for a place to have lunch afterwards. Whenever we visit an area of town, even one we’ve been to a million times, we try to find a new and interesting place to eat. A few Google, Yelp, and Urbanspoon searches revealed a brand new Isreali place on 280 that had been open for less than a week and already seemed to have a dedicated following. Israeli food is something I grew up with as a kid in Pittsburgh. There used to be an Israeli restaurant in Birmingham but it closed a few years ago, leaving a big void in our food scene. My heart started to race… Could this be our next big foodie discovery? Eli’s Jerusalem Grill is located in a pretty run of the mill strip mall past Target on 280 (if you’re coming from the city). They already have a nice temporary sign up: When you walk in, there’s a wall to your right with photos of a market in Israel to get you in the mood. As we approached the counter, a nice gentleman with a big smile gave us the menu and prepared to take our order. Here is the menu; I love the graphic design! And he added “everything else you need to know is here,” pointing to himself. Turns out this was Eli, the owner. So as usual, we asked him what we should order. And then we noticed this in the background: This is schwarma , where meat is grilled for hours or days on a spit. They had chicken and lamb/beef; we went with the latter. Besides that, we told him we wanted to try a little bit of everything. He recommended the vegetarian plate with a side of falafe
