It’s our back to school tradition, having lunch at Oscars, then off
for back to school shopping! The ever changing menu is wonderful & exciting, the flavors blended together magnificently. The icebox cake scrumptious! We are never disappointed, food art at its finest.
Thank you for making Father's Day for our family so special. Our table was ready when we arrived, the food was delicious, the service was impeccable and the entertainment was enjoyable. What more could you ask for?
The crab cakes were the best that I have ever eaten!!!! If you ever visit Birmingham, you simply must eat here!!! Chris Cobb is a master chef!!
Had lunch today here and we loved it. Marvis (the manager) and his staff were wonderful!! Funny, helpful and very compassionate. My ex mother in law lost her husband about 6 months ago. She was feeling down and was telling Marvis about it. He knelt down, hugged her and talked to her for a few minutes. Made her day. He also hooked her up with some of their chicken soup!! Our group is having a bit of a rough week and his compassion and humor brought a smile and some happy tears to our eyes. If you're ever downtown during lunch, please go see them. You won't be disappointed.

Yesterday I ate lunch at the Birmingham Art Museum in the Oscars Cafe for the 1st time with my grandson. It certainly won't be my last! Besides knowing the food was going to be DELICIOUS and was so reasonably priced, the service was the best in town!! Marvis Brown was superb!! Shout out to him and our waiter (sorry can't recall his name). They went out of their way to make our lunch very pleasant and with a 19 month boy, that can be quite a challenge!!
Very good food but the service is superb! It is a little pricey for lunch but well worth it!!
love it. eat lunch there at least once or twice each month.
Really nice venue with live music. Added bonus, you get to browse the museum afterwards.
1. Eat everything
2. Skip nothing
3. Lemon Italian Creame cake!!!!
Tamika was our Server at lunch when we visited here with a group of our Senior Citizen Center peeps. We had a great meal!! I had the Remington Burger with a Side Salad with Champagne Salad Dressing which both were fabulous. My husband had the fish & chips which he liked a lot too!Tamika kept our iced tea and water glasses filled and quickly got our orders out, which we so appreciated. All the pretty scenery with art work and outside veranda was so noted.
Went for lunch one day while at work downtown. Had the lady pea and heirloom tomato salad which was quite good along with the peach cobbler and ice cream.

The fish tacos were some of the best I've ever eaten. The fruit and vegetables are generally all local and fresh. And if it's a nice day you really HAVE to sit outside. It's the perfect lunch setting. I've never tried the brunch, but it's on my "to-do" list. The only downside is that it's a little pricey, but for the quality of food I truly don't mind. I've paid more for less impressive fare.
Uniquely Delicious. Wonderful food, wonderful service. I ordered the smoked trout deviled eggs and the flavors were delicious. Desert was also a unique treat, cornbread strawberry shortcake. Marvis took wonderful care of me, and I would go back any time I found myself in Birmingham.
Oscars is great for a leisurely lunch, deck was especially nice. Salad was inventive and good.
If you are on jury duty the pace is a little slow.
Hidden gem in the heart of downtown. Great service, friendly staff, delicious food, and large portions. Great selection of salads and sandwiches. We had the burger, and Farmers Market salad with West Indies. The crab cakes on Wednesdays are back as well!
Love it. Oscar's at the Musuem is a consistent favorite of my family with a setting that is second to none in the city. Great menu has something for everyone. My favorite is brunch with a bloody Mary. Keep up the good work!
Just for starters, the atmosphere alone is by far one of the best in town. Surrounded by incredible works of art and then served a work of art on a unique plate. What more could you ask for? I was more and more impressed with each bite I took. I've now been back to Oscars at least once every few weeks. Consistent quality and delicious as usual. The wait staff is nothing short of fantastic considering how busy they always are. It's easy to see how hard they are working and yet remain very pleasant and have a great demeanor and sense of humor which only adds to the immaculate visits I've always had. I recommend this restaurant to any and all. Beyond just lunch, they have a TERRIFIC brunch on Sundays. Not to mention, every first Thursday of the month, they feature a themed tapas style menu and I'm constantly blown away at how tasty everything is. I can't explain how glad I am that Oscars is no longer under the Kathy G catering company and is now contracted with one of the best known and highly reputable companies - A Social Affair. Jim Cobb and his crew has turned this place over from a hardly so-so, to a hot spot destination. Make sure you save room for their desserts - magnificent! Then save time to walk it all off and view some of the rare masterpieces around the museum.
It'll keep you coming back, and that's for sure.
AMAZING!. I LOVE Oscar's! I had previously dined at the museum before when it was Kathy G and was HORRIBLY disappointed with the poor quality and lack of creativity of the food. Once I found out it was under a new contract I decided to try it out for lunch and was so very surprised. The Knuckle sandwich is to DIE for...you can't go wrong with a lobster sandwich, right? One of my dining mates had the Greek salad and another tried the special of the day which happened to be mahi mahi. Both were blown away by the food and we had to make sure to give our compliments to the chef. We have since been back for the Sunday brunch menu and were told it has nearly doubled in size with selection of food. I have no doubt it is the best brunch in town and a must try for anyone looking for a fabulous brunch in Birmingham. I will definitely be back to visit Oscar's frequently.
I have only been there for the Sunday brunches, and have been very impressed. The menu changes slightly every time, but the grits, scones, and especially desserts are so good. It is worth the $24 price, esp for unlimited food!
Delicious, healthy food in a great atmosphere. Oscar's may seem a bit pricey for lunch, but the portions are generous and the food is fantastic. It's obvious that everything is fresh. Their salads always include several different veggies, some of them from the nearby Jones Valley Urban farm.
Then, when you're finished, you can look around the museum - definitely worth checking out.
