Great bar, friendly service, nice crowd
Town pump is a great spot to wet your whistle in downtown black mountain. Very much a local spot and if Shannon or Melissa are behind the bar, it doubles down on your guarantee of a good time.
We were in town and found this great little place. We were meet at the door by a great welcoming committee. Best group of different dogs that were so friendly.
Perfect dive bar! Locals, darts, and a bonus, a really good and free live band playing the blues.
The Pump will always be a good place to go. Good vibes, good prices, and usually some good music playing, often live. You may not always start here but you'll almost always end-up here.
Update: Been a minute since I was last here. No longer steps down to a fenced area out back. Now it's a deck so less stair stumbling when you're in-n-out the back door all night. Not much else has changed and that's a good thing imho.
Very nice bartender, Shannon. Did not know we would have live music so that was a bonus. Good local pub. Darts a nice option as well. Mixed age group.
Great Bar. Great prices on drinks. Clientele was good and the band playing was awesome.
My band "Endelouz" played here. The bar was nice and clean, bartender was great, and the crowd was awesome! We had a blast!
Passing through on the way home we had to make a last minute stop in black mountain. I ran in town pump tavern to pass some time why my husband attended a work meeting. My bartender Ariana was absolutely amazing!! The environment is very welcoming and the people talk to you like you have known them forever. We will definitely be back!!
Also they don’t take cards! There is an atm inside.
Great stop with a friendly crowd, amazing staff, and free darts! Just be aware, it's cash only but an ATM is on site. I hear they often have live music, but I missed out on that part.
The atmosphere was great: not too full not too empty. A surf band was ripping it at a comfortable volume and the back porch was chill. The only gripe was the beer tasted pretty off. Maybe just been a bad pour.
The workers are great. Robin is the sweetest face on earth.
A great vibe; hole in the wall done right. Good live music, attentive ownership. Only challenge is interior smokiness wafting in from the back patio.
Bar tender was friendly. They have darts, the newest Golden Tee machine and a stage for live music. Laid back local atmosphere.
I first stepped foot in this place around 1995 when I played music there with my buddy Lance. Over the years, I played show after show at The Town Pump with Second String Bluegrass Band. My picture still hangs on the wall (The Black Mountain Times article about the Town Pump) from 1998. Love this place. I hope it's going to be there forever.
Fairly inexpensive drinks. Decent ginger ale when a break is needed from adult beverages. Good live music on occasion. Dog friendly. Easy place to hang out in Black Mountain.
I've always loved this place! The restoration looks great and there's always friendly faces there. The darts always suck me in for hours. Plus there's a really pretty blonde that works the bar now!
My band, The Sulphur Springs String Dippers, played there last night and we had a blast! The folks at theTown Pump are great! Do yourself a favor and stop in while your in Black Mountain! A "real" tavern. Cheers!
This is a great bar! It is a real, authentic bar with real people and a good bartender. If you are a typical tourist, it may not be for you, but if you are a seasoned traveler who is tired of neon and microbreweries don't miss it.
