By far my favorite breakfast/brunch spot in Boone! The fresh grapefruit mimosas, the entire menu, and the staff are all amazing! I highly recommend.
Heaven. The food. The atmosphere. The server Lindsey. And can we talk about the biscuits and gravy??!! We just sat there in a food coma, and loved it. Do not pass on this place y'all.
We had the veggie bugers and fruit on the patio. Delicious food, friendly waiter, reasonable prices. Beautiful day.
The food was amazing! Service was great as well. Really cute little place. I highly recommend it if you are in Boone.
It has grown to where when my Mother visits there are at least three conscript visits to Melanie's for breakfast out of favoritism. Easily the best breakfast on King St.

Loved the friendly vibe here! Food was truly excellent .
Our younger waitress/server was so sweet and always smiling...
Friendly and excellent service. We had yummy french toast, blueberry pancakes, uncured bacon, and the best dark coffee I've ever had at a restaurant.
This was the best breakfast we had on our weeks vacation. Quiche was exceptional. Service very sharp. Friendly nice place. And oh yeah: the fresh fruit side was actually fresh, tasty fruit
Great great food served up by a wonderful staff. Your stop in Boone is not complete until you've eaten here.
LVED Melanie’s. Awesome Burger’s (I got the black and blue) Sweet atmosphere and great service! I sat at a table just like my grandmother had! Yellow Formica top with chrome side and legs!

No visit to Boone is complete without stopping to eat here. I've been going for 7 years now. The staff is always friendly no matter how busy they are and the food is beyond fantastic! Everything is fresh and from locals which to me makes it even better!! Thank you for such an amazing establishment
The food here is excellent, great atmosphere and service. Everything was made with fresh from the garden ingredients. If I could find more vegetarian meals that tasted like the Vegetable Gratin with Roasted Tomato Sauce, I might become vegetarian. Yeah, it was that good!!!

This place was fantastic! All the food we got was amazing! They even had great service. The only downfall is they don't serve soft drinks.
Today the food for our group of 9 was amazing; our waiter was awesome, and for once with our large group of picky eaters, there were no complaints! Be prepared for a wait if you go with a larger group like we did, but be aware, it is totally worth waiting for, and there are lots of cute shops around to look in while you wait for a table-
Fun place to eat it's small and seems to stay busy. Breakfast and lunch both are good. Service can be hit and miss but overall polite and friendly too. Organic and local so lots of tasteful but heathy options.

While staying in Blowing Rock over the July 4th
weekend, we tried Melanie’s Food Fantasy for breakfast. This unique little
breakfast and lunch café was packed on a Sunday morning.
Dora here. Every time we’ve passed Melanie’s, there’s a
crowd outside! For a group of five, we waited forty five minutes. So go early
or be prepared for a long wait.
I chose the Multigrain Pancakes, buttermilk pancakes with white
and whole wheat flour, oat bran, buckwheat flour, and flax meal. Not being sure
of the size, I chose two, which ended up being a mistake because these pancakes
are huge! I should have ordered just one, and the next time, I will add chocolate
chips for a little sweetness.
Dora here. What do you mean a mistake? Your extra pancake
didn’t get wasted. I ran out of waffle on my (half sized) Fruit Waffle, but I
had plenty of fruit and yogurt leftover. Ernie’s extra pancake made a great
dipper. :)
We rate this restaurant 4 forks out of 5 for a family
friendly restaurant serving great food. For more restaurant reviews, please

Had a weekend in Boone during the summer and was looking for a Sunday brunch place. This was it.
We got the stuffed French Toast and Extreme Appalachian Breakfast. We shared the food between 2. That pretty much covered all the bases. I would recommend both. We were hungry so it was all finished. The Stuffed French Toast was rather sugary and sweet but not too much over the top. My only criticism was the bread was tough.
Good and timely service topped off a great meal. I would revisit if ever back here.
Fresh food, great friendly service. My husband had the trucker special with soysauge. The soysauge tasted homemade. Coffee was fresh and strong. Loved my homemade biscuit, egg and Swiss. I added fresh spinach. Yum!
Might just be the best breakfast of my life!. Melanie's made me very excited when they informed me that they are serving breakfast all day until they close at 2pm - a rarity for a small, local, gourmet place in Blowing Rock or Boone. The breakfast/brunch menu is extensive and is sure to include anything your stomach might desire for your first meal. The sweet selections are out of this world - french toast, waffles, pancakes, they're all amazing and it's hard to choose just one (you might be in luck if you'd like to sample several - waffles come in halves). Eggs benedict, omelettes, and other savory option looked just as appealing. Make sure to get a side of breakfast potatoes - perfectly seasoned!
Simply wonderful.. We had such a lovely late breakfast while visiting Boone. The food was superb, our waitress attentive and caring. The wait was worth every minute.
Don't miss it.
Great service, food, and coffee. Perfect way to start the day. Dad was disappointed he couldn't get a diet coke (his daily dose of aspartame) Because they do not serve soft drinks. this thrilled me and earned my respect.
A Boone Must. This place hands down is the best breakfast joint in the area, always delicious and always fresh.

Delicious! Awesome options for veg-friendly eaters, and the stuffed French toast is luscious! Highly recommend!
We went for a late weekday breakfast around 10AM while visiting Boone. The service was excellent. The staff was friendly and accessible. The restaurant was warm and bright on a cloudy snowy day, and had a pleasant small town vibe. A few spaces of one hour parking was available behind the restaurant, and town meter parking was easily accessible nearby.
We had the biscuit w/ mushroom gravy & a side of bacon, and the daily special of cheddar scrambled eggs, silver dollar pancakes & grits. The mush gravy was rich and satisfying to someone who usually would order a sausage gravy.
Coffee was hot, good, and regularly refilled. The hot chocolate also received praise. Decent quality OJ was large and refilled. We applaud the focus on organic, hormone free, fresh & local, etc.
Our server offered a coffee refill to go as we paid the bill. What a great thought!
Pricing was not "cheap" but was very reasonable for food, service, and location. $20 for two with juice & coffee...
We will look forward to our next breakfast at Melanie's when we return to Boone.
This is actually the best food I have EVER EATEN. You won't regret it even if there is a long wait
Birthday Breakfast. I ate at Melanie's for the first time today for my birthday and it was fantastic! The service as fast and friendly. My coffee didn't get even get to the halfway point before it was filled. I had the French toast with fruit, whipped cream, and syrup! It was huge and fabulous.
Good food with a healthy option. The "sausage" gravy is actually vegan and is amazing! It is rich and tastes unhealthy and wonderful. The Benedict was well prepared and quite tasty. My only complaint is that my potato madness was oily. But overall I would recommend this fun place for brunch.
Busy Busy on Weekend Brunch. Had a nice breakfast brunch on a Sunday morning. VERY popular place so you can expect to wait if you hit mid-late morning. If the weather is nice there is more seating outside. I had stuffed pancakes but wish I had the Eggs Benedict I saw the guy next table get. Very laid-back like you would expect in a small college town. Think of Lost Dog Cafe in Folly Beach, SC and you have got the vibe and the food. Staff was super nice. Love hippy-chick waitresses.
Awesome breakfast. Its been a while since i had breakfast this good i had to write a review> i had the scrambled eggs over seasoned potatoes, it had a spicy kick to it and freshly brewed coffee. It was great and definately worth the wait.
Worth the wait. This place is always crowded and always has a line, but once you start eating, you realize why. I'm not usually one to go out for breakfast, but Melanie's is a nice treat. The food is fresh, and despite how cramped and hectic it is, the waitstaff is friendly. Don't just get breakfast though, try the butter-stuffed burgers. Way tasty.
Great food. The food is wonderful, fresh, imaginative. While they are not expressly gluten-free, some items can be safely ordered.
We were visiting Boone and found this little restaurant. Very impressive! The staff was very friendly, wonderful atmosphere and the food was great and reasonably priced. We will definitely be back again!
Would it be worth a two hour drive from Hendersonville to Boone just for a meal at Melanie's? Surprisingly, I'm not sure how I'd answer that question. We stood, enjoying (enduring) a light mist and pretty steady breeze during the game, but until about an
We have been at Melanie’s several times while visiting Boone! This visit we had about a 45 minute wait for brunch and realized after 30 mins that others coming after us were being seated outside when it had not been offered to us which was disappointing. Our server was attentive and the food was pretty good. Lots of vegan/vegetarian options. The house made veggie burger was one of the best I’ve had. The grilled cheese sandwich and soup was on the small size as far as portions go. The tempeh scramble was yummy! Biscuits were over baked so I would opt for another bread choice next time. Overall I would recommend and go back. Prices were on the higher side for the quality of some of the entrees but there is a large menu with lots of options.
Came here with a group of 5 on a Sunday morning and was pleasantly surprised to be seated right away.
The service was fast and friendly, the food was fresh and tasty. I looooved my avocado bacon Benedict.
As a side note, their pimento cheese is on the spicy side!
Today's restaurant is Melanie's
Located in Boone, NC.
The pictures shown in order are:
Pecan Waffle:
The pecan waffle at Melanie's is a popular choice, but I found it to be a bit dry. The homemade whipped cream was a pleasant surprise, as it helped to balance out the dryness of the waffle.
Fresh Fruit and Granola:
The fresh fruit and granola at Melanie's is a great way to start the day. The fruit is fresh and flavorful, and the granola is crunchy and satisfying. However, I found the honey to be a bit too sweet. I would have preferred a less sweet granola or a smaller amount of honey.
Bacon Avocado Burger:
The bacon avocado burger at Melanie's is a delicious and satisfying option. The burger is cooked to properly, the bacon is crispy, and the avocado is creamy. The southwest aïoli adds a nice touch of spice and complements very nice the melted cheese.
What do we think of Melanie's?
On a first impression, Melanie's seems to be the go-to breakfast spot in Boone. It's located on King Street, which is a great location for a lot of foot traffic.
The wait time isn't terrible most days. You can join the wait list and then go for a stroll around the little shops nearby. (Be aware of weekends or special events such as graduations.)
The service is quick and attentive. They do their best to accommodate gluten-free, vegan, and vegetarian options, which is always appreciated.
Their menu does offer a variety of food items. You can taste the quality and the freshness of the different dishes, as it seems that they use fresh ingredients. Be on the lookout for their special board, as it does change frequently.
One can happily eat here most days of the week and not get tired of the menu. The space inside is a bit tight, but if you get one of the individual round tables next to the window, you will enjoy the best of Melanie's.
The Homefries seem to be a popular pick as well. I've tried them multiple times, and although they seem to be spiced or seasoned, I never really get to taste much other than potatoes. It's like you expect something that just isn't there.

My absolute favorite breakfast ever -- Grits & Greens!!
[Grits.. Farm bacon.. Farm-fresh scrambled eggs.. Collards.. Pickled onion.. Feta.. Fresh fruit.. Toast w/preserves.. Coffee]
Very good! I loved the mix-matched tables and chairs, cloth napkins, and kitschy mugs. The food was great and I loved the variety of vegetarian options. I had the pimento cheese grits and my husband had the eggs Benedict. My only regret was not getting the ginger-lemon tea. It had fresh chunks of ginger and lemons. Everything was super fresh and staff was attentive.
I ordered a biscuit breakfast sandwich with added Canadian bacon, while my friend had coffee, and eggs Benedict with avocado and bacon. My biscuit was large with a good amount of egg on it. My friends egg Benedict was perfectly cooked, each egg was nicely runny and coated the avocado and bacon.
Visiting Boone and decided to try a local breakfast restaurant. Sunrise Grill was closer to us, but did not realize they were closed on Tuesday's. So we decided to check out Melanie's and glad we did!!
Seated immediately, love the colorful decor - tables, chairs and cloth napkins. Friendly staff, quick service, excellent food, hot fresh coffee, delicious fresh fruit, and homemade apple butter.
Recommend and will visit again!
The best thing about Melanie's is the location: Right in King St in downtown Boone, on the edge of the App State campus. It's a pretty setting, and I recommend dining outside when the weather permits. The food is tasty if a bit pricey, and the service is always good. It's a small restaurant that has high demand on weekends so be prepared to wait for breakfast or brunch.
Our group was really looking forward to eating here based on the reviews and pictures. It was Saturday at 1100 when we arrived with an hour wait time. There's plenty to do around Melanie's so that didn't bother us. When we were seated, we found the specials to look appetizing and menu very appealing. The group ordered the pecan pancake ( absolutely bomb), truckers breakfast which is a nice twist on the biscuits and gravy with eggs on top also ( really good homemade huge biscuits), the eggs benedict ( would have changed it up since the bread was not an English muffin but rather a hamburger bun?) So that was just ok..
The breakfast burrito was large and the fruit was great ( no melons!). Grits were course and very good w added cheddar
Would come back to try the quiche and get some more grits
Great food! Came by Saturday for lunch and had about a 1 hour wait. But there's a lot up and down the strip to entertain yourself, and it was totally worth the wait.
The bacon avocado Benedict was fantastic on Melanie's bread instead of an English muffin. Husband loved the Ruben. And mimosas were well made (more like how you make them at home!)
All staff was very nice! Will absolutely come back!
Food was fantastic, when we finally got it. We spent about 45 minutes waiting for a table, which is OK. It took us about an hour to receive our order. We had to go up and ask our server about the status of the order at least once. Once we did receive our order, it was great and still warm.
First time visiting Boone and we are starting off strong with this amazing restaurant! The wait time wasn’t too bad and the inside is so beautiful. The staff is soo friendly! Our server was the best! She was very attentive and was well versed on the menu. The food was amazing and definitely tasted homemade. We loved it here and will continue to make a stop here everytime we visit!
We were in Boone for the weekend and went to Melanie's twice. We had to come back a second time because it was so good. The food was delicious and the staff were friendly and attentive. The locally brewed coffee was also amazing! We got the Bacon Avocado Benedict and Paul's Tempeh Scramble (with eggs), Would highly recommend. This is what brought us back a second time.
Such great first time food experience. Food is delicious, staff was super friendly, with only a mild complaint about service length (we weren't in a hurry, so not a big deal). Definitely going back!
I had lunch with my family at Melanie’s today and it was fantastic! I loved the laid-back vibe (and the trendy indie-music playlist). The servers were all super friendly and efficient. I had the bacon avocado burger with house made pimento cheese… it was to die for! Others had the Patty Melt and the Reuben, and everyone left satisfied! Looking forward to coming back to try the many eclectic-sounding breakfast and brunch items. This is a hidden gem in Boone! 😁👍🏻
This was delicious! We were on a girl's trip and decided to have breakfast at Melanie's and we were all so happy with our choice. First, the hostess was wonderful! We called ahead and even though we weren't going to make it out for about an hour she started a wait-list for us. She then made sure to save an outdoor and indoor table for us to choose from. Our server was attentive and knowledgeable and the food! Oh my was it good. I ordered the fruit waffle and it was crispy yet soft. The stuffed french toast was awesome. Every one of us enjoyed it. We will def go here again next time we visit!
My husband and I were on a mini vacation getaway in Boone, and we came in for brunch on a Sunday. The service was great! Only thing is, we did have to wait about 40 minutes because they don’t take reservations, but we understand it’s a small restaurant with limited seating. But Everything was delicious! Everything from our hot chocolate to our French toast and waffle was amazing! Whenever we’re in Boone again we will definitely be back!
The food is good. The service is excellent and beautifully shaded for brunch outside.
