🍮🧁🍪Best Boston Cream Pie I've Ever Had🍮🧁🍪
Trying a good Boston Cream Pie should be on any itinerary of "things to do while visiting Boston." And, fortunately, there's Mike's Pastry, conveniently located not far from the Freedom Trail walk. This place can get very busy, but service is FAST, so you won't end up waiting in line quite as long as those lines might make you think.
The sheer amount of confectionaries offered here is nothing short of astounding. Every flavor of cannoli imaginable, cakes, pies, cookies, and other classic Italian desserts. But the Boston Cream Pie is so good that, not only did the non-dessert-eating member of my family ask for more, but we also ended up going back for seconds.
Portion sizes are generous and the flavor is fantastic. You've got to taste it to believe it. I've included some pictures to capture just a few of the desserts available. Happy munching!
The pistachio cannoli was great! The lobster tail less so. Neither were too sweet, which I liked. The marzipan is absolutely fantastic…and hard to get. It has an interesting and unique crystalline texture. I’ll be back there when their doors open next time. Reminder that they only take cash…and lots of it.
This is another place that has some great pastries and is located near Modern Pastry. Since I just had a cannoli from the other place, I wanted to try something different. I opted for their Boston Creme Pie. The slice was pretty big, and its a filling snack. It was good, but slightly a little sweet for me. This place also takes cash only.
We seen people walking with “Mikes Pastry” boxes everywhere we had our trip to Boston. We had no idea of this pastry store so had to try. There is a good line up in the evening so go early and they only take cash so be prepared. The line moves fast the most popular is the cannoli which they have in many flavours be prepared to be overwhelmed as it’s not an easy choice as they are all great.
This is definitely a must stop if you're in the Boston area, even if you're not a cannoli fan they have a variety of other deserts and treats. All the employees were very helpful and friendly. We tried 4 flavors of cannolis, a chocolate whoopie pie, a peanut butter chocolate brownie, and a traditional black/white cookie. Everything was delicious. Most importantly they only take cash, so make sure and come prepared.
Freaking amazing!
Hands down the best Cannolis I have had in my life.
So so many options and they all sound so good that it was really hard to pick what to go for.
Oreo - AMAZING! No words. This was beautiful! Filling was extremely good and complete with crushed Oreo.
Hazelnut - delicious! I'm not usually a fan of hazelnut but this one was really nice. Creamy and nutty in the right amount.
Vanilla Cream - it was simple, but tasty.
Turtle - very unique! Creative filling inside as well. Another one I would have again.
DEFINITELY need to go here again!
So I don’t really even like Cannolis… but I loved these! Super yummy crust and flavorful filling. We enjoyed the hazelnut and chocolate chip.
As others have said, they only take cash. Nice as a little stop during our Freedom Trail tour
This shop is so popular. Even with a line, the line moves fast. It is impressive how quickly the people work. There is so much dessert in this pastry shop. The most popular are their cannoli. I got the regular spice, expresso, and limoncello. Everything there is about $6 and cash only. The cannoli here is quite amazing, and I don't like Cannoli much. The filling is not crazy sweet, and the pastry part is flaky and slight crunch. For the pricer, the portion is massive, even their cake. The spice one tastes like pumpkin pie. I love it.
I really like the cannolis at Mike's. They're delicious. On my last visit, the woman "helping" me asked if I wanted anything else after she put my first of two items in the box. I repeated the second item I wanted and she got very frustrated with me. It was noisy in there, and I wasn't trying to be sarcastic; I didn't know that she had heard me the first time. It was just unnecessary, and I walked out happy I got some pastries, but a little unthrilled.
Great pastries and a decent price. Totally worth the wait for this staple of the Boston area. Lin goes fairly quick at this location and a large variety of treats to pick from. Boston crème was delicious and strawberry cheesecake
