This restaurant was recommended to us and we weren't disappointed! The small dining area has a cosy ambience. The staff were extremely friendly and made recommendations about both the food and wine. The classic chicken with pan juices was delicious as was the vegetarian risotto with zucchini, sweet corn and lemon. We shared a rich pudding of lemon poppyseed cake and fruit compote which was perfect! We loved this small, informal restaurant perfectly located a short walk from our hotel. We hope to return one day - do go if you're in Boston it's a very special place!

Came in for brunch for the first time, food was fantastic, price is good, our waiter Jay was friendly and attentive . Nice atmosphere , we’ll have to come back for dinner sometime.
was looking for a small intimate and romantic place to take my beautiful girlfriend out to dinner and i found out about this place on tremont st. The service was great, food was delicious and the atmosphere was exactly what I was looking for. A little loud because the place gets packed on a Saturday night but not a big deal. I highly recommend Metropolis Cafe and I know we will be back soon!
Delicious food and very friendly and attentive staff. Best risotto we've ever tasted (chicken and mushroom one).
Great Brunch . Brad the Barman was great . His Bloody Marys’ are magnificent. The food is some of the best in the area . We were severely jet lagged and went away revived . Great job guys !!!
Tiny spot with very nice people, great service and delicious food
The mussels were out of this world good! Best I ever had.
Great service and amazing food!! Highly recommend!
Homeward bound to Maine from England, we were offered a cancelled table on a Friday night. We chose a beautiful light Autumn salad followed by veg risotto...they were divine; everything was spot on. Lovely staff, buzzy cosy atmosphere, reasonable prices...we'll be back.
Quaint yet interesting upscale, urban atmosphere, great food, fabulous service!
The food was delicious, really the best we've had and wait staff was very attentive. We LOVED it
Amazing! Beautiful decor, and the chicken is out of this world. The service is always excellent.
Always great food and service, love the ambiance also! Quaint and lovely.
Amazing dinner... Sriracha Brussel sprouts was everyone's fav! ... 5 dinners and all were scrumptious.
I just love this restaurant, the atmosphere is so comfortable and the Chef De Cuisine is fantastic ...I would definitely recommend this for a nice and enjoyable time in Boston....
Food is excellent and service is friendly but the use of digital QR menus as default detracts a star. I hate it when restaurants use QR codes: it detracts from the conversation when people use their phones and inevitably get sidetracked by another app.
The duck hash was good with plenty of duck but probably a tad saltier than we'd like. The Salmon eggs benedict was simple but good. One egg was slightly overcooked but I don't think it detracted from the experience.
Our server was very friendly and helpful. Drip coffee was expensive at $5 and although it included refills, they were too busy to ever refill it. Not that the coffee was great but we didn't come for the drip coffee so whatever. Food was good.
My husband and I ended up here by chance and we loved it. The food was delicious and for once, there were lots of veggies on the menu. The wine list was excellent (price range and selection) and the atmosphere friendly. It's a small neighbourhood café that offers a creative menu with an emphasis on fresh ingredients. Understated and I hope that it stays that way. Service was great. Will go back !
Great service all around, it meant a lot to find such an organized and attentive atmosphere here on a busy Saturday night! :) Cute small/intimate space with dim lighting, able to hold a conversation whether at the bar or a table. We ordered rigatoni, chicken and mushroom risotto, and a couple house cocktails, and it was all delicious and perfect.

This was hands down the best risotto I’ve ever had and I would highly recommend anyone come here for it. The Japanese style cheesecake was pretty unique and tasted great so if you’re looking for a dessert I would try this one! It’s also a great date spot because of the restaurant’s size and ambiance.
A cozy spot in South End with amazing food and service.
Recently came here on a snowy evening. Despite the weather, the restaurant was packed, and we were fortunate to snag one of the last booth seatings available. Similar to other eateries around the area, the place had a homey vibe that made us instantly feel at ease.
For the appetizers, we had the famous Brussels sprouts and the coconut curry mussels. Covered in a thin crispy batter, the Sriracha glazed Brussels sprouts struck a nice balance between sweet and spicy, and dipping in buttermilk ranch made them even better. The mussels were solid, and I enjoyed its fragrant aroma underpinned by a riotous medley of ingredients including green curry, crushed tomatoes, and pickled chilis.
From the entrées, the standout was undoubtedly the truffled shroom risotto. Despite its unassuming presentation, it was packed with savory and umami-rich flavors. The salmon and the rigatoni were also really good, and I especially enjoyed the butternut squash purée on the salmon which gave it a sweet profile. With its messy presentation, burger was the only thing that seemed out of place, but it was still delicious albeit overpriced.
We finished off the meal with the blood orange creme brûlée, a good blend of sweet and citrusy flavors. Overall, it was a very satisfying experience, and I would highly recommend trying this place if you’re looking for a good fine dining experience in uncomplicated settings.
I love everything about this restaurant!
Xmas Eve dinner was spectacular. The space is friendly and intimate and the drinks and food and good service are worth 5 stars and more.
I came here for a restaurant week special with my wife, the typical cozy atmosphere was not in place...no fault of the restaurant, just the particular people there that night. The food was amazing, we had the stuffed Trout which was cooked to perfection and had some of the best flavor combinations I have had in a long time. I would highly recommend coming here, just maybe not on a Friday during restaurant week.
Metropolis achieves a Mediterranean-meets-Parisian cafe ambiance. The brunch menu has variety and we thought our food was delicious but nothing about it was was unique to Metropolis let along Mediterranean inspired. The restaurant is fairly small and we waited a while for service - although when we did get it our waiter was very good. We’ll be back since we live nearby and the food was good but I think this place could be even better than it is!
Always a favorite. A true local place that has great atmosphere, service and food. Nice diverse menu with something for everyone. Food is always solid and dependable. Brunch is also super price reasonable.
The wait staff were wonderful. We were able to be seated right away at the bar on a Friday night. The drinks were delicious (the rum punch & strawberry margarita). My brother and were splitting an entree which they actually plated onto two bowls for us which I've never seen a restaurant do. Would come here again. The chicken & mushroom risotto & the brussel sprouts were delicious. The veggie side was ok.
Great service and amazingly delicious food! Try the peach salad and the rigatoni 🍝
Came for brunch and was slightly disappointed with the food. The taste was good but not wow. I wished they can compliment the plate with some small side salad to make it more of a balanced meal. Their coffees are just ok. Perhaps we just had higher expectations of a 4.6 Resto. The server was superb though!
We don't live in Boston, but went back two years after our first visit while staying in the area again. Consistently great food and friendly service. Very small space so it can feel a bit tight.
Ordered hacked chicken+’shrooms risotto (chicken, local roasted mushrooms, perigord truffle butter), rock shrimp risotto (summer corn, palacio chorizo, fire roasted peppers, thyme & parmesan) and the rigatoni (crumbled fennel sausage, chili flakes, sweet marsala & parmigiano) for take out.
Hearty portions and comes with bread (slightly crunchy/chewy crust and soft tangy interior). The rock shrimp risotto was flavorful and summery. Chicken risotto was a bit salty. Rigatoni al dente and sauce had the slight fennel flavor.
Great food (wedge salad, peach & cucumber salad, salmon, shrimp risotto), great service (very nice and quick), great atmosphere (lively/busy on a Saturday night but not noisy). Not cheap but not overpriced.
Google said my kind of place. It is for sure. Hostess and bartender exceptional. Bread good with wine. Swordfish special tonight. Can't wait.
Ordered mussels, chicken with Parmesan truffle risotto and trout with spinach. Food was good! Cozy and quaint atmosphere and great service!
Nice brunch restaurant in south end. We got the omlette, mimosas and huevos rancheros and everything was great. Decent portion sizes. Would return
Affordable place in the south end, and presents a great alternative to some of its more expensive neighbors. I will say though that the seating and service was a bit under par. Time to provide food took a very long time (we had to flag staff twice for an ETA and placing orders), and our waitress was a bit abrasive when seating us. Space was a bit tight understandably, given COVID but they have made the most of it regardless. The chicken and mushroom risotto was terrific.
