The food is excellent. My friends and I had the bacon tots and I had Smithwicks. Excellent customer service. The bartenders were Irish that was cool. This is the oldest Irish bar in Boston. The area, though, yikes! Just lock your doors. Otherwise, great bar. I would return next time I'm in Massachusetts.

We happened upon this place after visiting the SoWa open market and had a lovely mother's day lunch. The service was really good, the waiter offered my mother a sampler of beer when she couldn't decide, which was really helpful and she loved the ones he suggested. We split the pizzaiolo steak sandwich which was absolutely delicious. Plenty of leftovers too!

The food is very good and staff are very amicable. We had Fish & Chips and Shrimp & Scallops Pasta. Everything was very delicious. The flavor of the fish was very good including the batter, which was very crispy and well seasoned. I had fish & chips all over the US but this one was one of the best. And shrimp & scallops pasta was little spicy and very tender and mouthwatering. We loved the place would visit once again if we go to Boston again.

We stopped in for lunch and so so good. I had bowl of excellent clam chowder, full of clams and seasoned perfectly. So big, I couldn't finish it. Hubby had the fish and chips (3 large pieces of fish) with fabulous French fries and coleslaw. The cider and beer were perfect. Whole meal was $42, we were so full and very satisfied. Recommend highly.

The guy running the bar when we came in was one of the kindest waiters ever. Great atmosphere, great food, and a great bar.

Fantastic Bar! Don't be fooled by the name, this is not a Cafe. The service is excellent, the drinks are plentiful and the food is top quality and reasonably priced. Run by the same family for 5 generates, if the walls in this place could talk. Definately a place to visit.

We ordered the seafood platter and loaded nachos for 3 people. The portions were really big and food was delicious as well. The place has a cool vibe and service was top-notch as well.

Authentic Irish pub in Boston, the Sheppard’s pie special was amazing and even on a slammed night my bartender was friendly and gave some recommendations for my visit

J.J. Foley's Cafe is rich in history and atmosphere. It's the best place in the area to go and get a drink and a bite to eat at any time of day. Upon walking in you immediately are transported to an old Irish Pub. The centerpiece of the Family owned restaurant is a gorgeous antique bar with friendly, witty, and knowledgeable bartenders to match (most of who are Foley's themselves). Drinks and food are very well priced.
