I had an absolutely fantastic experience this evening. The food was executed with a thoughtfulness and care that only true professionals can achieve. Regardless of who actually made my dish, I have no doubt it was done by someone who gives a shoot- which makes things taste all the better.
The service and welcome I received was beyond expectation. I showed up alone, and left with what feels like new friendships. It turns out if you show up to a restaurant with a smile and eagerness to truly engage you leave with an amazing experience. Just sayin.
This place is hidden gem! Such good japanese food and vibes. The service was also very good as well. You must order broth-y udon, coal charred cabbage, katsu sando, and chicken skin skewers! They were all phenomenal. It now is one of my favorite restaurants in Boston!
I probably would have given dinner a 3 if not for the amazing brussel sprouts. The cocktails were decent. Everything else was fine but I expected more for the price. Definitely regret not trying the pancake and the chicken.
Tasty tuna, Shishito pepper, BBQ chicken, and Bluefin Tuna. Also recommend Aperol passionfruit cocktail! Food was delicious, ambiance could use improvement: lighting & decor. Super friendly staff!
We had an excellent experience here. Ordered everything on the menu and shared between six of us. Was an amazing and authentic take on modern Japanese cuisine.
The noodles and the eggplants were good. Personally I liked the roasted peach dessert with ice cream!!
Such a unique spot. Really great food and cocktails.
Incredible dining experience. Cocktails are fantastic and I love that they have a highball menu. We definitely ordered too much food but we loved all of it and could make up our mind which was our favorite. Mine was probably the skin/chili/lime sticks or the corn tempura. The shishito peppers with crab butter was amazing too.
The restaurant is spacious and deep. I enjoyed the atmosphere and open kitchen in the center of the restaurant. The menu has enough variety where you can get many different plates since they are smaller and are intended to be shared. We really enjoyed the misfits, the pork sandwich, oyster stick, and chicken bao. The pickles had a little too much vinegar. The quality of food matched the value of the price and I enjoyed the lack of pretentiousness of the establishment. Will definitely go back.
Not sure what happened with the other reviewers' dinners, but this was easily one of the Top 3 dinners I've ever had. Went for a special occasion and got the All You Can Eat tasting menu. Simply put: everything was amazing. A few of those dishes were truly moving. Had to close my eyes just to savor them. The rest were all VERY good. The tasting menu was pricey ($80), but for the caliber, quantity (we tapped out before the meal was over), and quality of food (lobster, copious seafood, steak), we felt like we got a great deal. In another city (eh hem, SF), this meal easily would have cost $200 pp. It hit such a sweet spot for me: startlingly good food in an unassuming, cozy, atmosphere with friendly, down-to-earth service. Highly recommend.
I had a blast. Food was excellant and inventive. Decor was simple yet tasteful. Cocktails were amazing!!! Loved the steamed pork buns and the entree add-on broth was epic. Cant wait to go again!!
Had mothers day dinner here and it was great. I made a reservation through opentable for the 8 of us and we were promptly seated, and in our own private room which was comfortable. The service was amazingly good she was there when we needed and scarce when we didn't. She had a firm grasp of the menu and made some great recommendations through out our meal. This place definitely is not cheap but we got great food and really enjoyed the experience.
We got the 2 mocktails both were refreshing and complex not just soda with added sweetness. I think we tried the majority of the cocktail list and everything was amazingly well balanced no one had any complaints. For beer we had Sapporo which is a fine light Japanese beer.
The food comes out as it is made and it is family style and most of the plates are on the smaller side. However, everything we had was fresh. The pork buns were the groups favorite soft bun, tang from the mustard greens, creaminess from the sauce, and beautifully double fried crispy pork belly. The scallops sticks had amazingly fresh scallops with just enough seasoning to not overwhelm the delicate taste. The chicken filet stick was juicy, and the chicken skin was tasty but the texture was different than what we were expecting. The mackerel rice bowl was comfort food with flaky fish on top of soy covered beautifully cooked rice. The eggplant dish was charred but could have used more, while the baby artichokes with poppy dressing were crispy and well seasoned. The lamb dumpling clearly had good quality ground lamb but the numbing sauce on the bottom could have used more of a kick for us. The egg and chicken bowl was filling and with crispy panko crusted chicken. The red snapper dish had amazing pickled ramps and the fish was cooked perfectly.
If you are looking for a super sweet and decadent dessert this won't hit the spot, but if you want a Japanese style light cheesecake with tart strawberry jam and soft cheese on top they have it. A well balanced complex dessert that really highlighted how well balanced the over all meal was.
Delicious and unique food selection, great for sharing with a group.
