Visited this place few days back on our trip to Boston. We were looking for halal places to eat & found this. The food was fresh & delicious. It was our first time trying the Uyghur cuisine & we loved it. Their service was amazing too.
It's quite a trip to return to an area where I lived for more than two decades, which I left several years before I reverted to Islam, and now to experience it as a Muslim.
I now have to make sure the places I eat are halal. That means not only that pork and alcohol don't enter the kitchen, but all the meat and poultry must be halal slaughtered.
It's an opportunity, not a limitation. Some restaurants that intrigued me for years when I lived here are now a very good idea. This Uighur-run storefront in East Cambridge is just one example. The cuisine partakes of Chinese, Central Asian, and Indian influences.
That bread is called "naan" like its Indian cousin, but it's thicker and more flavorful. A divine beef and onion stir-fry is far better than any stir-fry I've tasted in a couple of decades. Portion sizes are generous, too.
I can't believe I finally found one of the rarest fines I've ever met. It is literally the Muslim Chinese tribe and I was excited and happy to support my phone. Muslims besides the food was great too. My kids ate up those dumplings!
The food was absolutely delicious and the service was amazing! Highly recommend! My favorite dish was the beef noodle soup!
Went here on our trip to Boston and since then, I think about the food we had often. We had fried naan with beef and a plate of stir fried Sichuan chicken. First of all, great service by who I think are the owners or family members. Second, I appreciate the amount of veggies and how fresh they taste in all the food. They use a lot of celery and it goes so well and so refreshing with the meal.
I love both meals and am now attempting to recreate them at home. It's halal too. basically I can't stop thinking about it 🥹
Offers halal meats, affordable prices, a cozy environment, and a synchronized ordering system for diners at the same table. However, The food was a bit oily. I recomment cumin lamb plate.
Food was amazing. The Dumplings were my favorite the flavors were so unique and the Dumpling itself was very juicy. We had an odd experience with the staff they were nice but had very odd rules. All the tables were full and when asked if we could sit they said yes if a table opens up you can sit and order afterwards (we were on a time crunch) so we decided to get the food for take out. But then a table opened up while we were waiting for our food and we asked them if we could sit instead since the table ended up opening up. They said no because they have a reservation at 6:15 but it was 6:30 and I asked them if they don't show up could we sit? And they said no we have another reservation at 7:15? Then 2 other tables opened up and we asked if we could sit and they still said no? It was really weird we didn't like that. I'd get takeout again for the food but wouldn't bother trying to sit again
Amazing food! It was our first time trying Uyghur cuisine and we are fans! Dishes are little bit spicy just the way we like it. But they did accommodate for our kids as well. Our little ones really enjoyed the stuffed naan.
The food is great, could use a a side of sauce for the dumplings (don’t know if they forgot it or it doesn’t come with it) but it wasn’t really an issue. The portions are generous and quite filling.
I loved this place! It’s a only halal restaurant near my place, and the food is amazing! I loved the dry fired noodle the most, it has lot of flavours and medium spicy for me. The spicy chicken also tasty. The server told us we can modify the spicy level. Their service is also great and friendly. Will be back!
Absolutely fantastic!
I had previously heard that this spot was one of few Uyghur restaurants around; I'm so glad that we were finally able to eat here! (A few weeks ago we tried to come, but unfortunately the entire place had been booked for a large party.)
The restaurant is pretty small and cozy. There's only 5 tables, so not a ton of room and it can feel a bit cramped. Once seated, you scan the QR code on the table and send in your order online. This method was new to me, but it makes sense to allow the employees to focus on the food - which was served with surprising speed.
We ordered the dry fried noodles, bean jelly, and spicy chicken. The first was my favorite and a full plate; the others were served in small bowls, more like appetizers. As far as meatless entrées go, well, there are none - so I ordered the dry fried noodles without the beef. It was still quite delicious, with the perfect level of spiciness. The bean jelly was served as cubes (in contrast to noodles, as presented in the images on the online menu) and would be fine to share, but isn't very interesting to eat by yourself. The spicy chicken was also well received.
There is very limited service, unless you specifically request an employee to come to your table via the website where you order. You can even pour your own water (from bottles into small plastic cups). There's also no bathroom here. The low-service, no-frills approached resonated with me as a typical experience for an authentic ethnic restaurant, and most of the customers I saw were Uyghur or Chinese.
The only Uyghur place in Boston. Small interior with seating and casual service. You order on your phone after scanning the QR at the table.
All the food was hot and spicy and absolutely delicious! We got some chicken stir fry, spicy tofu, a samosa (these are different than the classic Indian samosas), and the hand-pulled noodles. Get some rice on the side if you aren’t getting a noodle-based dish.
Highly recommend going here if you’re in the area — you won’t be disappointed.
Little restaurant on Cambridge St, food is yummy and tastes homemade. Loved the homemade yogurt with honey and raisins. Also the lamb soup was really nice, like a Pho but different flavors, and the lamb was tender and delicious. Same with the scallion lamb! Also enjoyed the beef samosa and cucumber garlic salad, would definitely go back.
The staff is incredibly nice and hardworking! Right when you walk in you can just tell the food is going to be amazing. 10/10 recommend, will be returning with friends and family!
Everything about this place is simple and unpretentious. The food offers fine and balanced flavors and aroma, non-greasy feel, and home-cooked aesthetics. We started with samosas, tiger salad, cucumber with garlic salad, and naan. We had the Dry Fried Noodle, Lamb kebab, Stir Fried Chicken, and Spicy Tofu. We will definitely return to try the other items on their menu.
Amazing food! Cucumber w/ Garlic will hit all your taste buds.
Stir Fried chicken! Spicy so make sure you have the tolerance but delicious.
And Dry fried Noodle also so good!
Hidden gem.
Will be back when I return to Boston.
We ordered takeout - one of the best meals I’ve ever had in Boston. The chicken plate was perfect level of spice and incredibly well-rounded flavor. Spicy beef noodle was so good - the noodles were incredible. Even the plain steamed rice was great and was made even better when we poured the chicken spicy sauce into it. Can’t wait to order again
There are dining experiences, and then there are culinary journeys. Silk Road, a Uyghur restaurant I had the pleasure of visiting recently, falls unequivocally into the latter category. With its beautiful blend of flavors and excellent service, Silk Road is an undoubted gem in the local dining scene.
Firstly, the menu. I was intrigued by the assortment of dishes, particularly their stir-fried chicken, beef noodle soup, and dry stir fry noodles. Once the food arrived, each dish surpassed my expectations. The stir-fried chicken was a symphony of flavors, with every bite as tender as the last, while the beef noodle soup was a warm, savory respite - a perfect melody of hearty broth and well-cooked, tender beef. However, the standout dish for me was the dry stir fry noodles, which was a masterclass in balancing texture and taste, with each mouthful bursting with delicious, authentic Uyghur flavors.
In addition to the excellent food, Silk Road also shone in its service. The restaurant has embraced the digital age with open arms, as ordering was made convenient through a web app. I was impressed with the speed of service as well - our dishes were promptly delivered, piping hot and bursting with aromas, a testament to the efficiency of their team.
In the world of restaurants where good service and excellent food are the two critical pillars of success, Silk Road stands tall and proud. With its sumptuous fare, efficient service, and the seamless use of technology, Silk Road has carved its unique space, making it an unforgettable Uyghur dining experience. For anyone seeking a culinary journey along the ancient trade routes, Silk Road is the destination to set your compass towards.
