I am from the south so good southern comfort food is hard to find up here! The chicken and waffles are delicious! The waffle and the syrup is wonderful, but I do wish the chicken was more seasoned and crispier
The salad was absolutely delightful and the hash was pretty good and well seasoned, not enough brisket for my taste
The service was excellent, the Cocktails were unique and delicious. The tapas style menu was hard to choose from, however all 5 options were outstanding in flavor. We finished the night off with beignets, which were straight out of New Orleans.
Normally, I don’t enjoy tapas style but this was fun and good. I ordered the fried chicken boneless thighs with the white BBQ sauce. It was excellent. The street corn was pretty good but the special Swordfish came blackened and so over cooked I only ate one bite. I did eat all of the potato salad though. I was a little surprised to be charged full price for it. I should have sent it back but my server disappeared. All in all it was a good meal. I’d go there again, probably.
Style AND Substance!
My favorite spot all around, that I ate at in Boston last weekend. May you have to wait a minute for certain items? Sure. That was no issue for my family or me though, as Jonathan was an amazing waiter despite some familial tension that arose while we were there…he handled us like a true professional! All the dishes were so fresh and well seasoned! A favorite of mine was my sorbet beverage, and salad with arugula and goat cheese. The biscuits were divine. Very stylish in all ways, and I can not wait to go back!
Didn’t expect to find southern comfort food in Boston, and it was good. I got the catfish and chips. The texture was perfect as the fish was juicy but the batter was crisp. Came with two sauces and my favorite was the caper tartar sauce.
I came up here from NYC for the Mets v Red Socks game and this was a must stop. I loved the decor. It gave me an early American feel. The bar area had a neighborhood vibe to it. Seems like a good place to mingle. The staff was friendly and helpful. The Warm Honey Glazed Biscuits would be a must have!
We had a great brunch here this past Sunday. The place is right off newburry and super close to the back bay station and copley station. The atmosphere and decor were great and I liked how the place was set up. We had a nice table in the back room which was very comfortable.
The staff were very friendly and always around when you needed them. Ordering was fast and easy and food came out quick.
We tried their biscuits which were incredible. Served with a spreadable cheese and brown sugar sauce, they were so worth it. The buttery and sweet dish was biscuits on another level.
I had the french beignets and tried the biscuits and gravy, a rare option from what I’ve seen in the area. Both were extremely tasty and with a deep flavor. The biscuits used were tha same as their signature ones so you can imagine the flavor.
The whole brunch experience here was excellent and very worth it. Prices were great and food was very delicious. I will definitely be back!
Really enjoyed eating here. The food was delicious 🤤. We made a reservation the morning of and it was a good thing we did, but it was during open Newbury St., So it may make it quite busy. The only downside was you have multiple servers. They did pretty good with us, but I could see some frustration from surrounding tables. I got the house special and I recommend it!
The andouille sausage was too good we had to order more. Also the jalapeño grits were unbelievable! This place was so good we cancelled other reservations and went back! * the coffee, however cute the milk container is, was average at best.
I'd say Buttermilk & Bourbon is pretty good across the board, but not amazing. They recommend about four plates for two people, which is a lot of food. I'd recommend three plates (depending on what you get) if you also want dessert.
We got the biscuits (amazing, but the spreads it comes with are just okay);
Chicken sliders (amazing);
Fried chicken (good, but it needs to come with some picked something or other to help break up the flavor);
Brisket Mac and cheese (just okay, the person I was with liked it more (very, very little brisket, btw));
The ribs (great, but the sause they come with makes the Mac salad kind of sweet, which was off putting to me);
The bread pudding peach cobbler (amazing!)
My fiancé and I have been coming here since our very first anniversary. The food, people and atmosphere bring us back every year.
The drinks here are the best drinks in town, let me tell you. They’re delicious and strong enough that you don’t feel jipped. I got the special drink of the night (if I’m being honest I don’t know the name. I heard “peach” and had to order it). It was VERY good — but the BB hurricane… AMAZING (drink pictured with the fog coming out of it)
Every food item will NOT disappoint you. The ribs last night fell right off the bone. I was worried about it being messy but I did not even have to pick them up because they were so tender I could just use my fork.
You just always have to start with the biscuits. They come with cheese and cinnamon butter. Both are amazing.
The mac and cheese was a great mix of cheese and spice.
Lastly, the atmosphere will not disappoint. The staff is amazing and every room I has it’s own character!
Tips: definitely need a reservation. Dress warm in the winter, light in the summer. Gets very cold/hot in there. Pricey but worth it!
Love the fried chicken here, biscuits, and beignets. Other dishes, never as much. Stick to the basics here. Mussels were way too buttery for our taste. Chicken is always amazing, a must order
We loved everything we had and enjoyed the ambiance and New Orleans-styled look of the restaurant. Between the two of us, we had ample food + leftovers with three plates (brisket mac & cheese, fried boneless chicken thighs, honey glazed biscuits).
The only picky, one-star knock I had was my southern roots were really wanting some classic, bone-in chicken (legs/thighs/wings/breasts etc.), and all they had were bone-in wings (no other pieces available) and boneless thighs. I was really happy with the thighs, and they reminded me of countless dinners growing up where the fried chicken was the hero of the meal. The flour breading was seasoned and fried delightfully. I just wish I could have had the bone-in pieces this oldhead remembers so fondly from times past.
The fries chicken sliders and honey glazed biscuits are really good. They used dark meat for the dark chicken sliders which makes it much more tender. I love the thin layer of sweetness that glazes the biscuits. Delicious!
I highly recommend the mussels, chicken, and beignets! We (2 people) ordered quite a lot, but the bill was much lower than we expected.
Great menu. Our meal came quick and the staff was super accommodating. Will definitely return next time we pass through town. The wings and sliders were really good.
Great spot for a change of pace. The atmosphere is nice, it's loud with conversations but nicely set up. The fried chicken is brilliantly fried and flavorful. The sweet and spicy sauce is spicy to me, but could be good for you. The brisket mac is very cheesy, it has a nutty undertone that is delicious. We also got the beignets- PHENOMENAL! So flaky and sweet. It was a great finish to a savory meal!
The soft serve mimosa is a nice cold refreshing drink. The bartenders made sure to keep an eye on us and all their other patrons with some very attentive servic.
