After a long Sunday at the Boston Seafood Show, and only ready around 8;00pm, we wanted some Italian and headed to North Boston and Hanover Street where dozens of Italian restaurants are located. It's THE place in Beantwon for great Italian food!
The resto we wanted to visit had 25 people out on the street waiting for a table...and the wait was over an hour!
We casually walked down the street to an unassuming little place and walked in. It was full and the server told us it was a 45 minute wait. She suggested we go to a third resto down the street to have a drink while we waited...yikes!
We ordered glasses of red and enjoyed the crowds and the great smells coming from the kitchen of this rather large, half-empty place...
We returned to Pomodoro and the server gave us 2 glasses of the same exact great wine we were drinking elsewhere. As we sat down in this small, 30-seat resto, she brought over 2 tiny menus and a heaping plate of lightly fried Calamari done exquisitely...and we hadn't even ordered yet! Crazy‼
We ordered a bottle of wine and she brought over 2 Beautiful salads...we still hadn't ordered...
She returned to chat with us and suggested a couple of dinners and we munched on a deep dish of warm breads in olive oil with a dozen olives to boot! Wow!
Dinner arrived and what a treat! Salmon pesto and tomato--just delicious! Everything was superbe and as the resto emptied out, our server, Shavonne, chatted with us some more. We found out she was actually the owner and there were 3-4 guys in the kitchen and she had been there decades!
What a wonderful, delicious evening!
I have been coming to Pomodoro for about 19 years and it is still one of the best Italian restaurants I have been to! Last night I had the veal scallopine with green olive risotto! Amazing! We had to wait for our table a bit and the hostess/waitress brought a plate of fried calamari to us to share as we waited! The on the house dessert of tirisamu was wonderful as well....will keep coming back!

One of the best dining experiences I’ve ever had. Incredible food, incredible atmosphere, and the owner treated me like her family. Can’t recommend this place high enough.
Keep meaning to do this! Have been eating here for over 15 years. In all that time, I have never once been disappointed. Delicious food, fantastic service, great wine list, etc..
Do yourself a favour and head in for some outstanding Italian food in a warm, cozy and comfortable place. You won’t be regret it!
After checking in to the downtown Doubletree we took the recommendation to try a favorite of the Locals. His recommendation did not disappoint! The Cherrystone Clam dish was to die for! The tight quarters made it all the more special. Sorry kids, only drinks are beer, wine, and H2o!!
Absolutely the best food and service in my travels along the east side of America, crazy people were lining up for the place next door and we were amazed as our waiter was awesome and the prawn linguini was to die for the antipasto starter was also unbelievable 11/10
Took my girlfriend here for our one year anniversary & don't have one regret other than the fact that I don't go here more often. Amazing service & the owner is engaged & friendly as can be . The food is the best I have ever eaten & the menu has so many amazing options
This place is a hidden GEM! It’s like eating in someone’s home. Small, quaint and with amazing food. They were so nice and so reasonably priced! I can’t wait to come back
Took my partner to Pomodoro for a romantic dinner and she totally loved it.
The mostly candlelit setting, cosy atmosphere and fantastic service makes it a must-do in Boston.
I won’t finish without mentioning the food which was absolutely AMAZING and full of great flavours.
Be sure to book before though as the place is busy!

We celebrated our son’s birthday...he recommended and made reservation for 5 of us! It truly was a relaxing experience! Everything was served without fuss and delicious. The antipasto platter was a nice surprise with fried avocado and tuna stuffed cherry peppers. All of our main courses were just perfect; presentation and temperature! Will definitely go back! Thank you to the staff
Could not have had better service or more delicious food! This is a must visit restaurant if you’re in the North End and it’s sure to become your own little corner of heaven.
Food and appetizers were delicious. Antipasto was out of this world. I had seafood Fra Diablo, it was loaded with shrimp scallops calamari cherrystones and Mussels. Nice italian bread with an olive and rosemary dipping sauce . Would definitely go here again.
I am a huge Pomodoro fan. I just went there two nights in a row. It's a modern take on North End Italian. I lean vegetarian and there are great vegetarian and pecatarian options. Bright, real flavors predominateand there is a great sense of belonging in the place.

I have been there 2 times and enjoyed both experiences. Staff is sweet and friendly. The food is very nice and they don't over due the amount. Wonderful. The place is owned by a mutual friend, but the review would still be the same. Its a place for relaxation.
Fabulous! The food was amazing and the owner was engaging and gracious. We loved the intimate setting and the unique selections on the menu.
Excellent host and superb food!! Definitely put this on your list and you’ll have a great dining experience...,
First time here at a recommendation of a friend. Siobhan could not have been more gracious & the food was outstanding. Just found our new fave place in the North End!
We got LUCKY to get 5 of us squeezed in with no reservation on a busy summer night! We are flight crew from the West Coast & travel to Boston. Now that i've been here, my search is over in little Italy! I'll wait all night if i need to...this is THE place! The bread with warm oil and olives was devine! Calamari and mussles were the best we'd ever had. All five entrees (all different) were "off the charts" great! ...of course the the dessert that just shows up was amazing tiramisu (no matter how full you are, eat it!)
Thank you, Pomodoro, for lovely, attentive service and an unforgettable meal. I'll be back with more flight crews on my next layover SOON!
A total must if you visit Boston. You can’t go wrong with anything.
The Calamari is incredible. Great ambiance in the North End. Beautiful food and gracious service.
This place is amazing!! Delicious food! Awesome service! A++
Amazing experience. Get there early. The fish soup was where it’s at!!
One of the BEST restaurants in the North End! This is a must go to whenever I visit Boston!
Fantastic spot with well crafted menu. Definitely get your money's worth.

Excellent food in a very cozy atmosphere with attentive wait staff. What more could you ask for?
Spectacular! The best Italian food with even better ambience. A Boston must!
What a wonderful little restaurant. I had the cod with a side of pasta and an arugula salad. My husband had pasta with red sauce. The owner waited on us and the meal started out with wonderful bread, small bowls of olive oil with olives included. We were served a complementary calamari to start and tiramisu to finish! It was an excellent meal and way more food than I could eat. I'd go back in a minute!!
Was a regular there 20 years ago. Glad to see it is still there!
A very cozy and sweet restaurant. I ordered the seafood soup which comes with simple seafood options but very tasteful. We love the white wine. The salad and dessert are generous and complimentary. On top of the good food, the staff is very friendly. The only down side is only cash is accepted.
Some of the best food in Boston. It was recommended to us by a local and it did not disappoint. Make sure to get reservations ahead of time though. They restaurant is very small and often they have to turn away walk-ins. They are also cash only. Even so, my wife and I will make sure to stop here every time we are in town. The complimentary tiramisu to end the meal is a great treat!
Excellent Italian restaurant. The atmosphere is wonderfuly cozy and service was very friendly. The menu is small but with a great choice of amazing Italian food with a Bostonian seafood touch. Space is very limited, so a reservation could be essential.
TL;DR If you are looking for a quaint Italian restaurant with amazing service, great quality food, and tiramisu, this is your go to place.
It can be difficult to find a great place to eat with the amount of restaurants in the North End, but please add this to your list.
You won't be able to find a sign with a name, making it feel like a hidden gem. As soon as you walk in, you are in the intimately sized dining room. We made reservations ahead of time to ensure seating for five. Since the location is on the smaller side, I would not recommend going with a large group unless you call ahead.
We were immediately served water with warm rolls and olives in olive oil. Then we were served calamari, which were crusted and fried perfectly. I ordered the Wild Mushroom Ragu and it was creamy, unctuous goodness. You can tell the pasta was freshly made as well. To end the meal, we had tiramisu and it was perfect. Thank you for the amazing meal, I will be back.
Such an amazing restaurant. So many to pick in the North end but this one take the cannoli! The best customer service. We had to wait so we got free wine and apps while we waited! Once the food came we were in heaven! Everything we ordered was delicious! Highly recommend this place. If you're looking for a great night in the North end you have to come here!
Amazing food, wine & service. Didn't love our seating which was a little uncomfortable. Place is tiny & no sign with the name so hard to find. Everything was excellent except for the comfort
The staff were helpful and they were very knowledgeable. Quick service once I got thru the line. The food was super tasty I got the deconstructed caprese salad... called something else, but that's what it basically was and squash ravioli, and it hit the spot.
I'm shocked to announce when I reheated it for a midnight snack it was just as good! I would definitely recommend this place to friends, family and strangers ;)
My new favorite Italian restaurant in Boston! It's a small but very comfortable restaurant. We received some plates as courtesy of the house that made the experience at the restaurant great! My party ordered mushrooms ragu, tiger shrimp linguini, seafood a la diavola, and a green salad; every plate made us very happy. It's more pricey than its neighbors restaurants but the plates are big and considering the courtesies of the house the value of money is great! A must in the North End!
