We stopped in on our way south while spending a night in Gold Beach. I spotted Oxenfre on our trip north earlier in the week and wanted to check it out.
The staff was very friendly and attentive. The owner was quite concerned that a local group was a bit loud and offered to move us. Very nice but we felt comfortable with a local flavor.
The woods was quite tastey well prepared and presented. One could not go hone hungry. Great beer and wine choices as well. We stayed after dinner to have more beer and wine while playing shuffleboard. Realky fun spot, great staff and atmosphere. We wish it were in our town.
My new favorite place to eat and drink in Brookings! Great service and even better food.

This place quickly became a favorite. From the sensational food to the incredible service at the bar. I’m super glad that I took the advice of friends and tried this place. Can’t wait to come back and introduce more friends to this gem.
This place is great Everytime we eat there. The food is delicious! Swine, shrimp and grits is absolutely amazing. The steak is also delicious. Good place to get out and enjoy the evening.
Really great menu to choose from and not your ordinary selections. Pretty fun place with excellent wait staff.

One of the best burgers I've eaten, crazy to eat a burger on the coast but well worth it. Great atmosphere, superb service and the adult beverages were delicious.
Fantastic food! Had the bacon infused bourbon old fashioned and the shrimp, andouille, bacon and grits. It was very good! I will return 100%
Absolutely incredible. We're from out of town and were visiting. This place had it all. The food was all mind blowing and not overly complicated. Highly recommend if you want a tasteful setting, brilliant food, and proper mixologist level drinks.

Great place. Clean and updated. Had chicken and waffles and they were the best. Wife also had the lettuce wraps and those were very good.
We went with a party of 12 to celebrate an anniversary. The wait staff was professional and welcoming, libations were good, serving was spot on and the food was very good and well presented. We will definitely return.

I loved this place.. love thier happy hour menu and drinks! There Margarita's are fresh squeezed and so yummy!!! Wish I was there now!.. the bartender was awesome ..I just wish I could remember her name. Food is fresh and tasty.. I think we went there 3 times on my short visit.
Such a great place. Found it randomly and had the best pub cheese I’ve ever had in my life.
This is a fun place to stop. I was searching for a good steak in Brookings to try out. This place offers a good flat iron steak for $28. They have a good selection of different foods to try including hamburgers, salads, friends, beers etc. I like that they try to support local farmers with buying food from them. It’s a fun environment. I wasn’t overly impressed with the steak, but I would try something else on the menu next time.
Cozy modern atmosphere with a variety of local inspired cocktails and drinks. Small triangle shaped patio almost boasts a view of the ocean. Menu had wholesome hearty food varietals for a price. Vegetarian option was delicious although a bit on the oily side.
When you walk in it will take your eyes a few minutes to adjust to to the dim lighting. Kind of felt like a speakeasy. Lots of fun touches in the decor like suitcases as bar shelves and old alcohol bottles as candle holders. Pool table, shuffleboard and a big table for card games. Live music on certain nights.
Bar none some of the best food we have ever had! Great flavor, diverse menu and friendly staff. Love that they are a farm to table restaurant, using a lot of local organic ingredients. We only stayed in Brookings for three days and went to eat there two days in a row. Also can't forget the wonderful fresh cocktails! We only live a couple hours away in Humboldt County California and we both have said we would drive up to Brookings just to eat dinner here and then go home it was that good!
This is some seriously gourmet food! The dishes are so extraordinary that I would love to come back all the time. Good thing I don't live in town or I would eat here every day! The prices are fair especially considering the quality of the food. I had this amazing hamburger and my friend had the fish tacos. Unbelievable so good!
Update 2021: Even with all of the pandemic chaos, Ox continues to be excellent! Consistent wonderful food choices! Great bar and friendly staff. So happy that they continue to be open in these trying times!

Great customer service, great food selection. Great drink selection. Price was par for quality. Only con was that it smelled like it used to be a smoking establishment when I walked in and I got a whiff of that every few minutes which wasn’t satisfying to me. I give them 4.5 stars.
We really need more unique restaurants like this one. Friendly staff, dealing with covid precautions, making incredible mixed drinks and serving up fantastic food that tantalizes the senses! Definitely on the expensive side, but the quality is well worth the price, and the price isn't over the top, especially considering the quality ingredients and preparation. I have a feeling that I will keep coming back to this place for as long as they are open.

Our second visit was on a holiday weekend. Much busier but Service and food were still amazing. The Happy hour menu is incredibly flavorful, fresh and inexpensive. The deconstructed BLT was amazing as were the sliders and street tacos. You must have the $2,50 margarita. Amazing and fresh. Love this place.
Just a gem on the coast! Staff were amazing. Food and beer were great. Tons of atmosphere. Just can't say enough good things about this place. Just go, you'll see.
Amazing! The staff is great, and the food is Ridiculous. Good luck choosing from that menu! But, rest assured that whatever you do end up costing plate-side (sticky wings, swine shrimp and grits 🍤 🥓, fresh Pacific cod tacos 🎏 🌮), it will be so full of flavor that you'll think it's not real. This place is a real find, and I will be back until I've tried everything on the menu.. twice.. at least.
We had the opportunity to eat here back in 2015 as we were passing through. The food selection, as you can see, is amazing and I’m sure that the quality and selection of food has only gotten better since then. I do not recall which local brew I had, but I do remember that was amazing! If you are passing through Brookings then I highly recommend putting this establishment on your short list for dining!
This is one of Brookings' gems. They offer unique food options full of flavor. Not your boring standard fair you can find in most anywhere. Their menu isn't large but they have a range from exciting salads to juicy meat entrees. Beyond that, they also work with local farmers and businesses to get the goods to create their dishes. I love seeing a community working together. That's when truly great things can be accomplished.
Happy Hour for the win!! Amazing deviled eggs, and the best fried pickles I ever had. Wish I didn't live on the other side of the country, because I would love to try more of what this wonderful place has to offer. Great Margarita and Bloody Mary as well!
