Mmmmmm! Definitely one of the better pizza places in NYC. The menu is pretty diverse, and includes standard pizzas and more creative pizzas, as well. It's worth it to splurge for the buffalo mozzarella when offered, because that's some serious cheesy goodness!
Service was so-so - we ordered sangria that never turned up, and our waitress didn't come back to our table until she brought the pizzas, and by that time we didn't bother with it. Also, they brought my friend out the wrong pizza. They brought the correct one out fairly fast, but that was a little annoying. Still, the meal was so good that none of that put a damper on the experience.
(I went back again recently, and the service was still bunk! The waitresses were all hanging out with the host in the front of the restaurant staring out the window. I thought surely something crazy and fascinating was going on out on the streets, but no... just people walking down the sidewalk. I waited for 10 minutes for more water while my waitress stared out the window and talked to her friend. )
Good solid pizza. Every time I come in, I know it will be the exact same pizza as the last time, and that's a good thing! Margarita DOC. That's what you wanna try. When a place can knock that out of the park, you know it's good. Service can be a bit distant, but that's ok. I'm not really needing a lot when it comes to my pizza. Decent selection of wines too and not at crazy prices. Desserts can be hit or miss depending on what they're offering that day. Usually the special of the day is where it's at.
Living in Naples, Italy definitely sets the standard high for traditional wood burning oven pizzas. Fornino pays homage to the traditional style with three different generations of pizza on the menu. I always order the original "Margarita" pizza when I try a new location, I must say, Fornino did not disappoint. This restaurant gets 4stars in my book for excellent service, relatively short wait time, and great food. I definitely recommend.
Amazing pizza, add some of the olive oil and possibly pepper to make it better yet. In the competition for the best pizza in the city. Not cheap, but there's usually no wait for a table. Worth a trip to Williamsburg.
The food is good, but in neighborhood full of excellent pizza places, it's hard to stand out. That's why space and service together contribute to -1 star. Neither is terrible, but neither is great. Get the Al Rocher
This is the best pizza I've ever had so far in my life. "The are and science of pizza" indeed. Not only is the food amazing, but the service is friendly, and they have a delightful patio in the backyard that is beautifully decorated (easily romantic, if one desires to so think of it) and offers a view of the herbs they grow out back as well.
I've ordered an antipasti tasting platter there that was large and amazing. I've also had the wonderful chopped salad (mm fennel, ricotta, white balsamic vinaigrette, etc.), and the three pizzas I've tried so far:
-Gamberi e pesto: with rock shrimp, pesto, zucchini, cherry tomatoes, and parmesan. Delicious. And the slightly burnt edges on these thin crust pies is simply marvelous.
-Funghi Misti: Yes, yes, yes! Mushrooms and white truffle oil (and caciocavallo and mozzarella), what more could you want out of life?
-Perhaps the Spinach and Mozzarella, spinach, ricotta, pecorino, pinenuts...and more white truffle oil? Oh sweet god and jesus is this one good. The best so far really (but maybe they could add some mushrooms to this one. Then again, maybe the noises I'd make while eating it would become way too inappropriate).
I had the truffle pizza: three different types of cheese, black truffle shavings, and white truffle oil. Truly a deeply sensory and indulgent pizza experience. Value is worth the price.
Pizza so good it melts in your mouth. With so many choices and small pies that are perfect for 1 person everyone can choose their own and be happy. I go at least once a week. Yum.
If you want authentic Italian pizza and great service, Fornino's is the place to go! Not only does the food excite your taste buds, but the decor is sure to set the mood right if you want a quiet little date night with your cutie! Everything about Fornino's is a recipe for success!
I love their pizzas!! I never really tried anything else except for an amazing Caesar salad and a weird combo of watermelon and balsamic vinegar but it was actually really good!
Really good pizza. Great value too if you go for lunch (12pm - 4pm) $12 for a salad and pizza. Service was excellent - Patrick is a star!!
The pizza is fantastic. The only cons to this restaurant are its size and the fact that the pizza is a little TOO thin. However, these two things don't keep me from returning.
I absolutely adore this place. My favorite pie is the "Genovese" which features ricotta cheese, mozzarella cheese, parmigiano, pesto, and cherry tomatoes. I also recommend saving room for the salted caramel sundae.
While studying for my boards (I am a medical student) I ordered a pizza from Fornino every day for 60 days. I didn't leave the apartment. I gained 10 pounds. I passed the test. Take that as you will. It was worth it.
Great selection of pizzas, delicious appetizers and warm service. It is thin crust though, which personally I love.
