What a pleasant surprise, to see that one of my favorite sushi spots is also well thought of locally. When I first met Master Sushiasan Osama, he was the only Osama I kenew of. All these many years later, I submit that he is still the very best Osama I know. Oh, and the sushi and service is still first rate.
Yum!. Excellent spot. The fish is extremely fresh, the special rolls are inventive (they even have a roll called the "Popeye" that combines bacon, spinach, and cream cheese. I'm not sure I actually *liked* this roll, but I did like their creativity) and presented gorgeously. The decor is this odd mix of Asian inflected art and graffiti and the restaurant is small and always crowded, yet a surprising feeling of coziness and calm prevails. The waitstaff are helpful, but leave you to enjoy your food. Tea is free and they have green tea mochi ice on the dessert menu!
Best of all, Geido is a good value.
Charming neighborhood place. I love using this as a halfway point for meeting friends in Brooklyn. Kind of centrally located between the Slope, Williamsburg, greater Flatbush (where I live), Prospect Hts. It's very close to the subway. The food is tasty, affordably priced, relaxed atmosphere. And there's something for whatever mood you're in, though I keep coming back to this dish which has vegetables, eggs, and rice all together: like Japanese comfort food. They've got a sushi bar, too.
Possibly the best Japanese in Brooklyn, at least for my money. The inviting place has colorful "graffiti" all over the walls, a product of customers with an inkling to share. And customers there are, often times too many.
Amazing sushi and ramen/udon spot. I can’t wait to come back, and will recommend it to others.
I highly recommend getting the vegetarian pancake with bonito flakes, it is suppose to come with pork belly, but I asked them not to include that since I was eating with a vegetarian. I had ramen in my friend had mushroom udon, and we were both very full. We also got hot sake, which I highly recommend, it’s always a great addition to any meal :)
The service was wonderful, the staff was very kind and attentive. Thank you!
This is definitely the best sushi in Brooklyn. Some of the best in all of NYC. (after living here 21 years) Everything I've tried is miles ahead of the competition. Someone ordered the Omakase next to me. I'm definitely coming back for that soon. 10/10
Waited about 15 minutes on a Saturday night. Got the chicken udon soup with mushrooms, chicken katsu curry and sushi. Udon soup broth flavor in particular was excellent! Everything else was great too.
A great sushi place for the family (with kids).
Food is good. The menu is relatively varied, but not too adventurous for the squeamish. For example, I recall eel but not octopus.
Prices are reasonable. The cost is on par with better grocery store sushi, but the quality is miles better.
But the best part is the staff. They are friendly and helpful (great). And they make this place family friendly. The full party policy is crisp, but fairly applied.
My favorite restaurant! The food is always fresh. The best sushi hands down. Some of my family's favorites are the gyōza, spicy tofu soup, chicken katsu curry and the super dragon roll.
Great restaurant in Brooklyn! The sushi was was good. I really like the okra ponzu it was served cold and lotus appetizer. Service was attentive and quick! The vibe was casual with graffiti on the wall
It was my first time coming here, the space has a history in this community, you can tell by the art on the walls and how everyone was super friendly. Many locals frequent this space. I waited a bit to be seated thank you Kaz! I had fun chatting up with the locals! The food was really good the shrimp shumai was my favorite. The salmon special was also great and so was the miso soup! I had the green tea ice cream for dessert. Will come back soon!
Everything about our GEIDŌ visit was amazing. The yaki udon was one of the best noodle dishes we've ever had — such great flavor throughout! — and our sushi/sashimi combo and specialty roll (dragon) were excellent as well. Service was fabulous and we even got some complimentary tea while we waited for our food (it wasn't even a long wait, just incredibly kind servers). Highly recommend!
Absolutely loved dining here! Food was delicious (especially loved the recommended appetizers), prices were super affordable, atmosphere is cozy, and the service was perfect. Our waiter was knowledgeable, friendly, and attentive. Highly recommend this family-run restaurant! Such a neighborhood gem :)
Great Japanese restaurant!!!!! Great service and food. I don’t have anything bad to say about this place. Fried items did not taste oily, they were just right! Nabeyaki udon is a pretty big dish, I recommend to share with others. Fried ice cream was probably the one of the best I ever had. Pour alcohol (sake?)on top and light it before you eat. Nice presentation. We enjoyed everything we had. Located near the train stations.
