I’ve been intrigued by this spot for a while for its claim to meld Vietnamese and Mexican cuisines, and overall it’s a winning combination. The space is nice and chill and service was friendly. And while some dishes were better than others, I was impressed with the dishes and the synergies between the two cuisines. The result was flavor combinations that were new but made a lot of sense and just popped. Standouts included a tostada with fresh seafood that you topped with fish sauce and Birds Eye chile and a congee with corn and duck confit. If I had one issue, it would be our decision to go with the tasting menu. We were taken in by the fact that it was comprised of dishes not on the regular menu and we might get to sample more. But in retrospect, we hadn’t tried the regular menu so anything would’ve been new to us, and the dishes on the tasting menu are normal size so you don’t really get to try more. And compared to the regular menu it’s not a great value. The one nice thing though was the wine pairing, which they do offer in both 3 and 5 glass options. We went with the 3 and found the selections to be well matched and good value. So all in all, a conditional 5 stars but I do look forward to returning and trying the regular menu - especially the duck neck which sounds amazing.

Food is amazing. I dream about the Nam Dua (mushrooms, greens, noodles). The mackarel spicy green curry is a close second. And if you like duck, the duck neck is so succulent and innovative as a dish. Last dish below is the beef skewers The only downside is they were out of everything when we were there - the black bass, the orange wine we wanted a second glass of, the hemp kombucha and one other item. It was pretty awkward

A wonderful meal. Everything was so flavorful! We opted not to do the tasting menu and ordered numerous things off the main and it was all very good. Definitely try the lamb, as not only is the lamb itself good but all the toppings and sides they bring with it are delicious. We'd go back!

I ate at Falansai in March of 2022 in the garden room. We ordered the four course tasting menu which was the perfect size! The highlight of the meal was the fish with green curry; it was absolutely delicious, a perfect balance of heat and sweetness, and the fish and accompanying veggies cooked to perfection! The dessert was also delicious (with some wonderful ice cream). The staff was lovely as well. Next time, I would definitely consider ordering off the A La Carte menu...there were some very enticing dishes. I would highly recommend making the trip to try this delicious food; it is a great meal at an awesome price with fresh ingredients!

Very interesting and delicious food! We got the "6-ish" course prix fixe. I will suggest not ordering this if you're not a fan of fish. I know the dishes change but I assume this is a relatively common theme. Every dish was unique with an interesting array of flavors. It also came with a dessert which was fantastic. Would definitely recommend.

I thought I came to a friend’s living room when I arrived Falansai. The indoor space is elegant yet cozy. We walked through the kitchen and entered into this tropical backyard decorated with thatch, graffiti and lotus pond, which all integrate very well. The dishes were exquisite, innovative and full of flavors. The green curry is spicy, citrusy and creamy, which made the seasonal vegetables extraordinarily tasty. The pork shoulder was grilled and glazed perfectly. Overall the dishes were on a bit salty for me, but the sparkling water was complimentary:) The last but not the least, the service was phenomenal!

Easiest 5-star rating I’ve given in awhile. Falansai is an incredible modern vietnamese/south east asian restaurant that really pushes the boundaries of what one would consider vietnamese cuisine, in the best way possible. To get the full experience, go with a group and order the dac biet feast. Its an incredible deal (about $80pp for 5-6 courses) and comes as an absolute unit of a tasting menu. Highlights were a wonderfully balanced spicy coconut curry accompanying a perfectly fried black bass, and a grilled vietnamese pork chop that was pretty life-changing. The spring roll vermicelli salad was no chump either. Everything was brought up a notch or two by the excellent chili fish sauces and pickles that just kept coming. Solid selection of natural wines as well, and the only regret is that i didnt get to try the cocktails which looked good. Cool patio in the back for warm summer nights.

One of the better restaurants in NYC for a while. It's an interesting Vietnamese fusion with clean and distinct taste and great service. My favourites were tuna rice cracker and duck necks among the smaller dishes and for the larger ones the mackerel in curry and pork with rice and egg were divine. They also have a great selection of wines and the decor is super cool. Definitely one of the nicer Bushwick places at the moment

Great flavors, great ambiance, great service! I love the intense flavors of the food but the dishes may taste better when consumed with alcohol. I ordered from the a la carte menu. Green curry: oh so flavorful! Love the evocation of a lotus 🪷 pond in the representation. Included rice is cooked perfectly ( is this such a tall order for the majority of supposedly good restaurants?!) Refreshing pickles ordered separately. Lamb skewers were magnificent! Confit duck necks are intensely flavorful and the meat is truly tender fall-off-the-bone (As advertized!). Need more zesty acid or accompanying alcoholic drink to unlock full potential. Coconut pudding dessert with shaved hibiscus ice and jackfruit, great, refreshing but not too illuminating.

I came here on a Friday night to dine alone and I was taken care of so well. Staff was lovely and the 4 course meal was the perfect amount of food and left me surprised with the medley of flavors and textures. All in all I spent $100 on the 4 courses, two glasses of wine and tip. Worth every penny and I think I got a great deal. Can’t wait to come back. I LOVED the grilled scallops and persimmon mole. And the dessert was to die for: coconut chia pudding with jackfruit. The tostada with fish was 🥰

Run don’t walk to Falansai! The tasting menu was hit after hit after hit. The Vietnamese Mexican fusion of flavors, all the different side sauces and pickled veg… ah incredible. I could not stop gushing over the food. We loved our server and the wine pairings. The restaurant’s vibe is that perfect laid back brooklyn vibe with artistic flair and great lighting. My favorite culinary experience this year.

Great meal here. Put a small note with the reservation about my pescatarian partner who I was taking here for a birthday. Fantastic meal. They did a full tasting menu for us — hers pescatarian. And not once did the more restrictive diet mean she got a less exciting course. This place is special. And the service is outstanding while being casual/fun. Highly recommend. Best dining experience of 2022 thus far for us. Ninja Turtle Art and collectibles were bonus 😂😂

The atmosphere here is fantastic, so homey and yet not too eclectic in a cluttered sort of way. Mostly importantly the food is also very good. I would highly recommend the 'Super Bao' kimchi mega bao and 'Blazed and Glazed' pork.

We tried the fixed menu and it was incredible. So much flavor! The service was fast and cordial. Can’t wait to go back next time I’m in the city.

Fantastic dinner! Still thinking about the shrimp dumplings in pho broth. Easy to make a reservation and the restaurant is very close to the L stop. Would recommend for a date or a meet up with a few friends.

Holy smokes! What an incredible meal. Excellent service. Friendly staff. Delicious food. Vibes music. My boyfriend and I went here to celebrate his late fathers birthday. Ironically there were multiple menu items with “dad” in the name. That warmed my heart. Orange wine was delicious. The egg rolls were the best I’ve ever eaten. The curry bun was packed full of flavor and we left with a ginger sauce to take home. Will absolutely be back again soon.

Everything was excellent. We were surprised that the vegetarian versions of the dumplings and curry were among the best parts of the meal. Egg rolls and tuna were incredible as well. Great value too.
