I headed to this bakery on a very glooming dark, rainy Monday, I had just finished an appointment and wanted to treat myself to somewhere nice and read my book in peace.
I’m not as familiar with the bay ridge area, as I don’t head to south brooklyn as much not have that many cafes/bakeries in my list there.
I was searching for somewhere nice, and Omonia’a popped in my search list.
All i can say is that it was much more than i expected for. I walked into a very warm and cozy bakery-diner style, with a plethora of sweets, pastries, cookies, cakes, baklava, and more! I was stick for about 5 minutes unsure on what to order, even with the help of one of their waitresses, really they had so many delicious looking options that I was overwhelmed with them.
Finally after a lot of thinking and recommendations from the waitress ( very nice and pleasant person, really helped me with their options) I was able to settle on getting three different betefore cookies ( butter cookies) and a Portokalopita cake; which had the perfect texture and moisture, absolutely perfect!
I was fairly disappointed that they didn’t have any strong quality chai, as by the look of the place it was middle eastern, but they did serve chai which was good, but no without evaporated milk, i was served some warm milk instead which was still decent.
I sat in one of their cozy booths on the side, I had quite therapeutic and calm reading session at Omonia their Portokalopita was very juicy and delicious, the way they extracted the orange really brought out all the flavor in the Portokalopita
As for their betefour, it had the perfect about of crumble, not too sweet either which was perfect, i forgot exactly what was the filling but if i’m most mistaken it was cranberry which made the cookie even better!
Their chai as I said wasn’t amazing, but it was okay and had some strong flavor, no zaffron sadly but the portion of the chai was nice, a whole teapot for about 8 dollars!
Frankly speaking for the price i paid it was more than perfect, I spent about 17 for all of this.
Overall speaking I really loved my experience at Omonoia, would definitely recommend coming here to my friends!
Also, service here is really nice, the staff are very friendly and helping people. Very patient people who really want to serve their customers in the best way they can!
We love coming here after dinner for desserts and cocktails. They open till late and have variety of tasty food , delicious cakes and beautiful vibe. They have little yard in the back, we have a small dog and it was not a problem to go with her. Servers very professional and friendly.
I went in for breakfast this past weekend for the first time. I don't know why it took me so long to check this place out. It is such a sweet cafe with a great assortment of desserts and an even better menu selection, which includes cocktails. The service is really good, the staff is friendly and the establishment is very clean. The banana pancakes I ordered came out fluffy and full of banana flavor. And....I greatly appreciated getting a mojito before 10:am to go with my food. This place is definitely a great spot to get a guick meal, to hang out with friends or just sit and work on your computer while having coffee. I will most certainly come back in the near future.
They pork soulvaki was great. The portions are generous. The mini baklava cheesecake was unbelievable. This is a great place to go for pastries. Dessert and for late night munchies.
Great service, friendly staff. The Waiters were extremely courteous and it's a really nice place. Definitely would recommend to friends looking for a place to go for a out to eat.Convenient price and great fresh food. .. and many choices for the cake..
I absolutely love this place. Hands down it's my favorite spot. I don't care much for the food, there's only a couple of dishes I like and if you go at night or on the weekend, the service is slowwwww, but I love the ambiance. I'll hang out and sip my coffee for an hour just to relax. I love the yard space when the weather allows for it, and I do love the daytime, weekday staff. They know me and my kids, know our orders and are always super friendly. I also like that the few food and coffee type beverages they have here that I do enjoy are so wonderful and so different, I can't get them anywhere else that I know of (but this is NYC so I'm sure it's possible). If I want strapatsada (spelling?) I'm not getting that unless I find a Yaya to cook for me. And only the weekday morning staff can make the perfect Cafe or Iced Viennesse (I don't know their secret but they make something magical happen with the espresso and the hot chocolate). I love this place, day or night, great for celebrating, date night, hanging out, and even though it was renovated, it's a neighborhood staple and it's home to good memories. Always a good time. Oh and the coke (pronunciation not spelling) is really good unless your gluten intolerant like me, then you probably shouldn't eat it unless you like to suffer (like me 😁👍)💖
One can discern the care which goes into the food’s preparation, as the ingredients and presentation are top-notch. Desserts mouth-wateringly displayed in a vitrine by the entrance. Al fresco seating in season, mercifully not enclosed in ‘Rona-proofing as if Omonia were trapped in 2020. Waiters polite and knowledgeable.
If you love cheesecake that is a place to go. We often went to other places that specialize in cheesecake but you can be sure that you find some different types of cheese cake here.
I also had crepe and it was super delicious.
If you get a chance to be in the neighborhood try it!
Been coming here for the past 10 years and you can’t really go wrong with any option. They have everything you can think of - some might be better than others. A very chill spot to grab a bite, some desserts, and share some tea with friends and family. A go to spot for sure!
I love this place nice cafe with a nice ambience wonderful service the staff is attentive and make sure you are doing ok and have everything you need. Coffee here is really good and I love their oriental chicken salad with the sesame dressing very sweet and tasty. The crepes here are really good too I highly recommend if you are in the area to stop by!
Christina is amazing!!! Thank you so much for helping me with my cake… I called last min for an order she went all out for me to get it. Great communicating, wonderful service. If anyone ever need anything , you can definitely count on Christina!!! Food 10/10
I got takeout galaktoboureko and flan - great service and great food.
One thing (management needs to fix.) Your phone is awful. I can never hear the person in the restaurant on the phone. This isn't the employee's fault. The phone receiver is broken. You can barely hear the person, regardless of how loud they are, and it sounds like they are in a tunnel. For a regular land line phone, the old receiver for the phone just needs to be taken off and a new one put on. Other types of phones might just need replacement. Regardless, if you can't take phone calls, you are losing business.
After three calls that night, I came close to walking by and skipping the restaurant. That would have been sad. I walked in and was able to order, but had to wait for the stuff to be assembled while the restaurant was *really* busy. This would have been easier on the employees and me if your phone worked.
I called tonight (a week later) to get a pickup order, and I am about 8 blocks away. Again, the phone didn't work. I am not sitting down to eat and I'm not getting delivery I have to pay for when I can walk there and pick it up. I am also not paying higher prices going through a website like Grubhub, when I am picking the order up myself. If I can't talk to someone on the phone to put in a take out order, I won't be back.
Fix your phone! I can't be the only one who has mentioned this! How much business are you willing to lose over a broken phone receiver?

The delivery guy was very nice, even gave me some compliments! I had ordered through GrubHub. The Gourmet Burger and Tator tots were very good. The Viennese Cafe was good but tasted a little odd, I ordered a Mocha piece of cake, but gave me something different with coffee flavor in it. The cake was delicious though....
Stopped here for some dessert. Had a baklava cheesecake and chocolate mousse cake. Both were aammaazzingg. I noticed they serve food as well. Will come back to try their food. Place was clean. People working there seemed nice as well. Will definitely come back to try food and of course that baklava and mousse cake. Recommended!!
