The decour was very interesting and the beer/service was great. The next time I come out from Arizona this will be one of my first stops!!
Great food and a great staff. I will definitely be coming back!
I've lived a few blocks away for 14 years and I love this place.
Great cheese plate!!!! Cool ambiance and great service.
Great staff. Great food. Great beer. Need I say more ?
Schnitzel the best! I love it! Also the potatoes salad! Very yummy!
Sausage, eggs, trout and salad. What's not to love? And the band's and coffee are good too.
Great place to eat. Time-after-time great food and service.
Great beer selection great food just fabulous
Great service, good beers, and fine Austrian cuisine in a casual atmosphere at an affordable price. And really nice folks! I'll be back!
We were going to Little Purity Diner but it was packed at 1145am on a Thursday morning, so we walked a couple of more blocks and tried this place. I had a white bean and kale soup and a frittata. My daughter had the scrambled eggs with bratwurst. My wife had the wiener schnitzel sandwich. Portions were generous and tasty. There's a lot of natural light with great advertisements in German all around. The bar had some great beer selection but as we were on our way to a parent-teacher conference, I'll have to return another day. The service was attentive, which seemed right since there was only one other table occupied. All in all, pretty good experience!
Very nice place. Good Austrian style food, atmosphere and service. I however do not understand why they had old GDR "Brot" sign hanging in there, this being an Austrian and German comfort food these restaurant. I guess for some people old communist signs are comforting, lol.
Excellent drinks with great food and great service! Everything about Cafe Steinhof was is on point when my wife and I go there. We've been three times and never let down. A great place to eat or drink in Park Slope.
Nice Brooklyn chic interior with Austrian decor elements. Friendly staff. Laugenprezel was ok, but a bit too crunchy. Spatzle were great - though personally I prefer Swiss style to Austrian. Cod and corn chowder was delicious and perfect for a warm lunch after frigid walk in prospect park. Very nice warmed linzertorte for desert.
Pretty good Austrian place. Very nice environment and the food is tasty as well. They have outdoor seating.
Friendly and relaxed but well attended staffs with great food and drinks! Love the cozy / vibrant and low key environment.
Beautifully decorated yet still very chill. Very good German / Austrian food. Great find.
Fantastic German fare and beers in a nice location. The place has real charm. Very child friendly, welcomed us in with a baby in a stroller and 4 year old. Gets busy from about 7pm. We tried some dishes we'd never had before such as the bread dumplings with mushroom and red wine sauce which was absolutely delicious! There was plenty of choice for our group of all vegetarians. The sausages looked amazing as well as a the charcuterie & cheese board. All the food was lovely. Our waitress was very attentive, especially for New York.
Recently started going to this place more. The staff is very friendly, they have a good selection of beers and a nice menu. Aside from German and Austrian food (all the different sausages and Wiener Schnitzel), they actual have a Hungarian dish (Gulash). Tried a variety of the dishes and liked them all.
My 7 year old daughter always gets the chicken schnitzel and loves it.
They serve great glüwein, Belgium beers, and various soups & sausages. It's a casual laid back kind of pub style eatery with plenty of options. The wait staff is friendly and able to explain the dishes & desserts. Highly recommend if you're in the area and want some Austrian-German food, beers, or both!
A great spot. Have come in a few times at various times, always friendly service. Solid food! Happy hour deals are great, the dollar French fries special is immaculate. Late night bartenders are always very sweet and accommodating.
Cafe Steinhof is my favorite bar in Brooklyn! It has a great selection of German / Austrian beers on tap, a wide range of sausages, freshly made pretzels with home made mustard, and chicken schnitzel to die for.
Their happy hours run between 4-7pm weekdays and offer pretzels or fries for a dollar!
Excellent place to relax and enjoy a great time in its low key atmosphere, and I highly recommend it.
What can I say - this is all time favorite restaurant. We have been going there 13 years - since it opened. The owner hires friendly, fun, compassionate staff. The food reminds me of both my time growing in up in a Polish/Slovak neighborhood in Ohio, and also my time in Germany. Its priced great, and when I have a free afternoon I'm sitting at the bar with a newspaper and loving every minute of it.
Great German restaurant in Brooklyn's Park Slope. They graciously seated 6 of us when a reservation at a neighboring joint fell thru. 2 of us had the chicken paprika with spaetzle and it was excellent. Everyone enjoyed their meal and the service and decor were first rate. Would definitely eat here again.
Great Austrian food coupled with an eclectic and comfortable atmosphere. Service can sometimes be a bit slow but nothing too serious at all. Perfect place to stop in after work to grab a few very good draft beers. Take advantage of the nightly specials and movie nights.
I've had several dinner dishes including schnitzel and fried trout, both of which were good. However, it's the brunch which I truly love...try the french toast with jam or spicy sausage.
Tip: ask for a side of mustard, Steinhof has the BEST.
What's not to like about this place? The great selection of beer AND the hearty, delicious food just makes me want to live closer to it! I've had the spaetzle and it simply melts in your mouth. On a recent visit, I had the meatloaf, which was seasoned perfectly. Despite being more than full, we shared a raspberry linzer tart and two different chocolate ice creams. All I can say is wow, way more than I expected from this place!
Love this place and the bartender Felix is super awesome. They have awesome deals (happy hour beers are $5?). They also have a good dinner for about $10 during the week days. The spot is pretty dark but perfect overall.
Fantastic for a cold, rainy evening. They have great German/Austrian beer and food. If you like this kind of thing I highly recommend it. If you've never had this kind of food before, this is a good place to try for the first time.
